PLEASE HELP not getting any protien in... All i want is something icy
920amy replied to Srios's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Syntrax nectar has tons of fruity flavors, and in my opinion, they are a lot yummier than IsoPure. IsoPure to me, tastes like kool-aide with a strong after taste of skim milk...Yuck! Good luck! Also, if you are craving ice, you may be iron deficient. Get your blood checked. -
I made it! *Happy Dance* I am 5 months and already half way to my goal WOO-HOO! I will post pictures soon!

Daniel, I have heard of people going back to basically a 'pre-op' type diet of 2 shakes, and only 1 meal of lean protein and veggies a day, everyone always says be sure you get plenty of water in also. 120 pounds in about 6 months is great! Remember too that as you get smaller, and closer to your goal weight, the losing will slow also, because you have less of a calorie deficite. Your body may also be readjusting to figure out where all that weight went so fast. Another thing I've heard of that works is get some body weights, weight your body down with weights, (i.e. arm weights, ankle weights, weight vest) and your body will think that it needs to lose those 'artificial' pounds it's carrying and it could kick you back into loss. Good luck, and congrats on your success so far!!

rosehips, I have these same weird feelings, anxiety and this feeling of (guilt?) I'm not sure what...or why...

You're doing great! Don't judge yourself by anyone else, we all lose at different rates. As long as you feel good, your blood work is good, and you're losing, I'd say you're right on track! Congrats, and keep up the great work!!

360 Body Lift /Circumferential Abdominoplasty
920amy replied to laurasthinspiration's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I personally have yet to have plastics, but I can tell you from first hand taking care of my mother after a breast lift and fill, and then a tummy tuck years later, that you will probably have more pain that you could ever imagine. I'm not trying to sound mean or scare you, but be prepared. I understand the abdomnioplasties and thighs are the worst pain. There are many people who can give you personal accounts, I hope you are able to get in touch with some of them, as I thing some Dr's sugar coat things a little bit. You will be down and out for 4-6 weeks, and won't fully 'heal' for 6 to 8 months, meaning all swelling etc. being gone. You will not be able to sit for at least a couple weeks after the thigh lift, be sure to talk to your Dr. about using the restroom. Good luck! -

Kapu, I completely relate! If I have gone to long without eating (which is too often) I eat ravenously, but after 5 bites or so I'm full, an comence the next 5 minutes or loud angry burps!! Am I the only one who weights every single morning AND before bed!? -

To splurge or not to splurge
920amy replied to dfdscott's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Man up and stick with it. The bottomw line, you don't need to have a 'last meal' because after surgery you can have the same favorite meal if you watn, you'll just be able to eat less of it, and then you'll feel even more satisfied knowing A) you feel full and only ate 1/4 of what you might have eaten before, and that you are losing weight and were still able to enjoy your favorite food. Once you get past the first few months it essentially turns into 'everything in moderation', and that is how the rest of your life will be. The pre-op shrinks your liver, so for me it was a no brainer to be as liver shrunk and ready for the knife as possible. The pre-op is the worst part, just get it done with. Good luck! -
I opted to cut mine before the falling out started. I had long hair and was able to cut and donate it which I thought was nice because someone else was able to benefit from my 'loss' so to speak. I cut mine into a rockin pixie. I still have some chub on my face, and my hair is getting thinner and thinner (you can see my scalp quite readily) but I'm ok with it. I'm not defined as a person by my hair, so cutting it/losing it wasn't that big of a thing for me. I'm loving my sleeve!

I had surgery on Nov 3rd. Way to go on the loss!! You look great! Congrats!!

I do Rockin Refuel Muscle Builder, they are pre mixed, made by Shamrock. 190 calories, 30g protein. Have one every morning for breakfast, 4 for $5 at my local grocery.

The beautiy of the sleeve is that the portion of your stomach that produces grehlin (the hunger hormone) is largely removed, so you will feel significantly less hunger, and some people, like myself don't feel hunger at all. Your grehlin production will ramp back up as time goes by, but it is amazing the difference you feel after surgery. Trust me, the pre-op diet is the worst part! You are so close to being on the losers bench! Good luck!

The pre-op diet is the WORST! I don't know why, but for me it really almost drove me insane! I couldn't watch TV except on the DVR (so i could skip through all the food commercials), I wanted to claw my husbands eyes out when he ate in front of me, I was a major B*TCH at work I had to sit myself in time out, it was crazy! The only way I got through it was by telling myself I only had X number of days left...evenings/night time was the worst for me too, because I didn't have anything to occupy my mind so I was constantly thinking of food. Try to get a new hobby, or something that will occupy your time and distract you in the evenings. You can do it! One thing that might be sabotouging you is the gum chewing, also. Gum contains sorbitol, which causes an increase in acid production and gas in the tummy. When you have excess acid and gas, you feel hungry like you need to digest something. Try to stop chewing gum for a day or two and see if that helps. Good Luck!
-
I get chilled often also, I'm almost 5 months out now, and still get chilled to the bone, especially in the early evenings. Lucky for me, I live in AZ, so as it warms up all I'll have to do is go stand in the sun for a bit, but this winter, I've just been taking A LOT of long hot showers I figure water is cheaper than gas!

I know a lot of people suffer from excess acid after VSG, and found this article interesting. Hopefully it can help some of those who have been suffering with acid! http://healthyliving.msn.com/diseases/heartburn-and-gerd/7-home-remedies-for-heartburn#1

Driving while Hispanic?! melissa130- NSV=Non Scale Victory. It's a victory you have with weight loss that is not tied to the scale.

I hollow out my tomatoes usually, the seeds just get in the way in my opinion, and can make caprese slimy also they are the source of 'weeping' after you cut your tomatoes. Good luck!

Since the dress shirts are so sentimental, and monogrammed, you could take them to a seamstress and have her make you a quilt out of them. Perhaps she could make a few pillows also. It may sound silly, but it would be a really usefull and meaningful way to repurpose the shirts your mom gave you. I've seen people do this with wedding dresses, ties, suits and the results are really cool. Congrats on fitting into your slimmer clothes again!!

I hurt my husband's feelings
920amy replied to roriep's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No, but maybe he needs some reassurance and help with how you're experiencing things. He doesn't understand and won't unless you tell him. He might be frustrated too because he felt you were telling someone else how you felt and not him. This is a tremendous change for you, and for him. Often times spouses will feel rejected, and neglected as their significant other suddenly changes (physically and emotionally) before their eyes and they have no way to cope with it. I'm not saying either of you is wrong, but I think you both need to talk about it. Try to know he is going through a lot too, he doesn't have his 'partner in crime' the same way he used to. He is probably mourning the loss of eating with you. It may sound silly, but our culture puts a lot of emphasis on food as reward, food for bonding, food for comfort, when you stop using that bonding tool, he is stuck holding the other end of it, not knowing how to communicate his feelings to you. I hope you're both able to talk it through! -
YIKES! Which March sleever?!

Measuring Success off the scale
920amy replied to legal loser's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I have been putting off joining a gym because you know that big lady off in the corner pouring sweat that is beet red and looks and sounds like she's having a heart attack...? That's me!! Lol. I need to get myself into slightly better shape before I 'publically sweat'. Good for you for kicking your scale to the curb! My biggest NSVs are shopping back through all of my old clothes in my closet and being able to wear things that I haven't in years! -
$6000 Mommy Make Over in TJ, I have plans already!
920amy replied to judy79's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
About makeovertravel? I've never heard of it, I'm definately doing TONS of research. I alrady know I'll be getting breasts in Thailand, I used to live there and since they are the sex change capital, they do AMAZING breasts, I helped my mom to get her a few years back there and they turned out wonderful. I am not opposed to travelling for plastics, and I am VERY research savvy!! There are so many places/countries/surgeons, it's good to know who has had what done where. I like to get first hand accounts on everyhting. -
