Surgeon trying to talk me into band.
relax#3 replied to bigbeauty78's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had a band to sleeve revision. Do not get the band. Unless you really want to have another surgery soon. I have spoken to hundreds of bandsters who are not happy. I was at goal when I had my revision, but needed my band out. I haven't become malnourished. Actually I am doing sooooo much better since I can eat proper foods without throwing up. Keep looking for another surgeon. -
Kurian or Aceves for Revision? Self-Pay
relax#3 replied to ctsleeve's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I had a band to sleeve revision in March with Dr.Aceves. My liver was also adhered to my stomach. I chose Dr.Aceves because of his experience in revisions. I would not have gone to anyone who had so few previous revisions. Can you speak to the surgeon near you and see if they would help if you had any issues? My doctor here does my follow up (bloodwork). If I had other complications I would have had to go back to Mexicali, and it is not a quick trip for me (about a day of travel. A few flights, hours and hours of driving). I just felt more confident going to someone who had more experience since a revision is riskier. Good luck -
I left Mexicali and Dr Aceves without a sleeve...

Aw that sucks that you spent the money togo down and change your mind. BUT I do think that you listenig to your gut is a smart decision a very hard decision. I had band to sleeve revision with Dr.Aceves in March. I had my band placed in 2008 at The OCC and came close to backing out then, but didn't. What a difficult decision you made, but it was right for you. It is hard decidig what dr to go to and what truth is behind what we read and in the people we speak to when those dr's are from another country. -

I hope things start getting better for you soon I struggled with dehydration until I started freezing premade chocolate Protein drinks into fudgecycles. I ended up using diabetic boost because it was the only one that didnt make me want to puke lol. I know it isnt the best out of all the drinks but it was all I could handle. I even had a few of my daughters pedialyte freezies a couple times when I knew I wasnt getting enough in - just to make sure I wasnt going to end up in the hospital. Good luck and feel better soon! -
Dr Acevez, Dr Ortiz or Dr Alvarez?

I also went to Dr.Aceves in March for a band to sleeve revision. I had an excellent experience. I was banded 4.5 years ago with Dr.Ortiz/Dr.Martinez. I had a good experience there as well. The 3 reasons I went to Dr.Aceves and not back to Dr.Ariel Ortiz was 1- Dr.Aceves has more experience 2- The longer hospital stay, I just felt more comfortable being in the hospital for 3 days as opposed to being in a hotel. If I were to have an emergency at 3am the response time being in a hotel freaked me out 3- I went to Tijuana thinking Dr.Ortiz was doing my band and didnt find out until after Dr.Martinez did it. Now, he did an amazing job and Dr.Ortiz was there BUT that wasnt explained to me at all before surgery...unless they told me the little bit right before after I had a relaxant and I dont remember. It should have been told to me before I even travelled there. I almost did go back to The OCC though as I went there for several fills an have always had good experiences, but I just felt much more comfortable go to Dr.Aceves. -
