Hi everyone! I was sleeved November 1st. My highest weight was 261- no pre obs diet. I have lost 82 obs and 22% body fat. I am at normal BMI and all my blood work is perfect! I work out intensely 5 days a week. Because of that, I have had to up my food intake.....I stick to good carbs- sweet potatoes, brown rice, quinona....eat a lot of eggs, turkey, chicken...I try to stay away from dairy as much as possible. I still do not eat red meat. For me exercise has been a huge part of my journey- it has helped my body really change! There are slider foods for me....I have to be careful....popcorn and rice cakes are the main ones. I defintely still don't drink enough water- it is REALLY hard getting Water down. Plus I still can't eat and drink at the same time. I was a size 20 and am now a size 10 on bottom and 12 on top. My issue is now a little extra skin (under arms and stomach)- but I am working each day on trying to lose that- I really don't want to rely on cosemtic surgery for anything. I want to lose about 15 more lbs and just continue to gain muscle and strength. I have registered for the Spartan Race- so that is a new goal for me. Keep at it- I know for me - the BEST decision ever!

Hi November sleevers..... Figured I give my update. Sleeved Nov 1 2012.... Best decision of my life.... Started at 260.... I am now 190... The last month has been very very slow but I'm losing inches and fat percentage. I work out hard 5 days a week ( burning between 500 and 700 calories). Weight training is essential! I eat about 1100 to 1200 calories a day and really limit my carbs . I don't drink enough water which I know is not good and would probably help me speed things up a bit more... Bit I'm working on it. My surgeon is awesome and is pleased with everything ( my blood work is perfect, my sleep apnea is gone , and my blood pressure is normal). He reminds me constantly that it is not a race but rather a journey. Remember this is for life so don't get discouraged. Keep at it!

Weight lifting questions
JenniferCS replied to mike1107's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started 4 weeks after my surgery . My doc told me as long as I didn't need pain remedy to go hard ! -
Atkins bars..... Be careful of bars being too high in sugar and carbs. Atkins had the least of these from what I have found.
-
I started some cardio two weeks out and strength training three weeks out..... Go by your doc but mine wanted me back at it as soon as I no longer needed pain med

Halloween Sleevers
JenniferCS replied to sdeb418360's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi! I was Nov 1 and what works for me is eggs. I scramble it to pieces ... Lots of protein in eggs too! Egg drop soup is good too. I also just tried mash potatoes - they r " heavy" so only two teaspoons or so I have. Was suppose to wait till end of week 3. , but I tried earlier. -
I was sleeved November 1st- lost 26 llbs in two weeks...now I am stalling? Really? What a way to kill my momemtuum? I read a lot of different things about why people stall but usually it is a few months out? Could it be b/c I am not getting enough protein? Would love to hear....thanks!

My NUT directions are fore 8 weeks out. Stages are key...

Not for me- weigh yourself before you go. I got weighed the night after my surgery.

3 weeks post obs, I would maybe pass on the crackers....you want to make sure that protein stays in. As others have mentioned, the full feeling definitely is in the chest. I can still only get barely get 3 oz yougurt in one sitting....I am just about 3 weeks out post surgery. Chewing is important too....I tried scambled eggs this week.... really need to chew them well. Hope it gets better.

Protein Shake Suggestions...anyone?
JenniferCS replied to Vidalia's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I use Body by VI....it is a cake batter flavor so it goes well with just about anything. I am 1.5 weeks out...it is the only one that I found agreed with me (many taste way too sweet). Good luck! -
The sweat cream flavor is what I use..and it goes well with everything- if choose to get it- inbox me and I can send you some really cool recipes depending on what flavors you like. Good luck!

I had the surgery Nov 1st...and I too have a hard time with the Protein shakes...I couldn't find one that agreed with me or that I liked...tried a whole bunch (ordered from Amazon)- then I remembered the shake that my trainer recommended..Body by Vi....it is delicious and has the same nutritional requirements as all the others (I checked with my dietician). It is like cake batter...and you mix with skim milk not Water..so tastier.....this morning was the first time I got my full 4 oz of a shake down. Also, if you have an Iphone...the shake has an app....so when you can start adding things..this app helps....delicious! It is also less expensive than the others. If you are interested let me know.

Weight Loss A Little Over 2 Months Out!
JenniferCS replied to lmbordelon's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
That is awesome! Keep up the good work. -
I had it November 1st! Tomorrow is one week post. Today was the first day, I am saying I am hungry. It's a long road, one you never really can prepare for, but the inspiration from others on this site has been great! Some turn arounds today: *Post obs down 2o lbs *Don't crush my meds anymore *I am getting thirsty (actually want to drink) *Pain meds stopped two days ago. I have been sucking on sugar free life savers to get some bad taste out of my mouth. There's a lot to look forward to, November Sleevers....good luck!

Excellent! I am day 6 out too and am down 20 lbs.......I eat one yogurt over the day.....the taste works! Good luck!

Protein Powders/waters/shakes
JenniferCS replied to mwrarr's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Whatever you buy, try Amazon.com- that is where I find them the cheapest. I like the ISOPURE and WHEY PROTEIN - in chocolate- they really do taste like chocolate milk......good luck! -
Dannon Light N Fit- any flavor- they are 80 calories....1 g sugar...and high protein- I work with a bariatric nutritionist and this is what she recommended to me. It actually tastes good! But I have one cup over 2 sittings....they are 6 oz each. Hope this helps! BTW, you can also have any plain Greek yogurt.....

What Was The 1St Week Post Op Like?
JenniferCS replied to Aussie Esta's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi,I had my surgery Nov 1st (not even a week) and it is definitely the toughest week of my life. All the advice mentioned above is right.....sleeping in a recliner was the only way I can get comfortable shut eye. The few first days, I had a hard time bending. I have no appetite and am struggling to stay hydrated. Once I came off the pain killers, I was able to finally have bowel movements (they constipate you, so use only as really needed). If you have small kids, you will need help, otherwise, good luck! BTW- day 6 down 20 lbs..it keeps you focused! -
No Liquid Pre Surgery Diet? Is This Normal?
JenniferCS replied to Dannysgirl2003's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
I had my surgery Nov 1st- the day before I was supposed to fast after midnight and try to have a clear liquid diet during the day. I cheated...knowing what was ahead of me...all went very well..I am not even a week out and down 20 lbs. Good luck. -
I had my surgery (sleeve) done November 1st and have yet to have a bowel movement. It makes me nervous...is this common? Also, when is the average time to have post obs appt with doc- I feel like I am waiting too long..... Thanks!
