    I Don't Want To Eat

Your body is being deprived of the vitamins that we would normally get with the food we eat. I know it's tough but you should try to eat. I am surprised that you are getting sugar free pudding. There is actually a lot of sugar alcohols in the sugar free stuff which typically is a no-no. Can you have soft scrambled egss? try that with a dab of cream cheese to make it smooth and creamy. You'd be surprised how good it is. Good Luck.

    November Sleevesters?

Greetings fellow sleevers: So I have to say that there has to be some reason why the doctors are putting preop patients on a liquid diet. I don't know what the reason is though. LOL. I spoke with my doctor and I told him about all of the posts that are on here and how nervous I was about going on a liquid diet for 2 weeks and his response to me was "why would I want you to be malnourished before you have surgery?" He placed me on a reduced calorie diet. Breakfast - 8 oz skim or 1% milk 1/2 scoop of protein powder and 4 oz fruit, Mid Morning a premade shake, Lunch 6-8oz low fat light yogurt no fruit on bottom and 4 oz vegetable or fruit, Mid Afternoon 1 oz nuts OR 2 Tbsp peanut butter OR 1/2 cup beans OR hummus and 4 oz fruit or vegatable, Dinner - 4 oz protein, 4 oz vegetable with Tbsp olive oil (helps with the fiber effect since there is no fiber in this diet), 1 cup whole grain starch OR 1/2 potato (plain) OR 1 slice of whole grain bread. This is as close to a liquid diet as the doctor see's feasible. I believe the purpose of this pre op diet is to get my body used to eating the smaller quantities and eating slower and more frequently. I believe a pure liquid diet is difficult but our mental status is what's going to get us through this. We will be healthier and happier in the long run. 13 days and counting for me. I am excited. My husband is already seeing a new me. He's wondering why I am being so nice and am in such a good mood. I am not stressing and I am feeling so positive! Good Luck everyone!

    Omg, Now It Is Real!

How awesome for you IMAbear! I have to say that the whole process has been unbelievably easy. My first visit with my surgeon, Dr. Michael Perez in Ft Lauderdale was on August 20th. Got the necessary paperwork (10 years of different doctors and weight tracking), letter of necessity from my PCP and sent it in. From the time the office sent it in was a 7 day turnaround for insurance approval. I am scheduled for surgery on November 20th, 2012 (Thanksgiving week - LOL). I am going to do bloodwork next week, and then on 11/2 I meet with nutritionist I guess to get my preop liquid diet. Then on 11/8 I do pre op and meet with the Dr. to go over stuff?? I am 33 days and counting. I have already started eating the baby bites and make myself wait an hour after eating before I drink water. I bought one of those H2O on the go tubs/bottles so I can have my water. 74.4 ounces of water a day and man I do not stop peeing!! This is such a positive step for all of us who are doing this and I know it will improve our lives. I look forward to talking with you more about how you are feeling and all around attitude. It will be good to talk with someone who is only a couple of weeks ahead of me so we can feel each other's pain and joy.... Good Luck

    **help**

Good Morning All: I am pre op. My surgery is 11/20. Thanksgiving week. :- p. I have not seen the nutritionist yet to talk about what I should be doing leading up to surgery. I am changing my habits now. I drink a big cup of water before I eat, so that way I won't be dying of thirst after eating. It is heard and I count down the minutes. But I was told it is only an hour after you eat. I can't imagine waiting for a full hour and a half. I am making my meals last 30 minutes and am eating tiny bites on a regular sized utensil. I know I have to get the baby sized stuff. I am counting the minutes til I can drink. The last 10 minutes is the hardest.

    Who Are You?

Greetings and Salutations! Valerie here. I am 49 years old, have a supportive husband of 15 years and a 7 1/2 year old son. I have been overweight for officially now half my life. When I was in my early 20's I used to model and run 10-12 miles a day. After years of food abuse to my body, the thought of exercise makes me cringe. I know that is going to have to change. I am afraid now. About 2 years ago I started to get heart palpitations and went in for a cardiac cath and guess what? instead of no heart I actually have an oversized one. So the doc put me on heart meds and prediabetic meds and told me to lose 100lbs. 2 years later I lost 25 and gained it back. and I am feeling like crap physically and I can't sleep during the night because I hear my heart punding so loud when I lay down. So. here we are. I just got scheduled for the sleeve surgery to be done on Nov 20th 2012. I have my pre-op on Nov 8th. So this will be life changing. I am excited and scared at the same time. This is certainly a reality check for me, because now that I am having the surgery there are no more excuses. I know the surgery is supposed to put the brakes on for corrective eating, but what about the reasons I have been eating unhealthy all of these years? I look forward to the support that I hope you all can provide. Look forward to your responses. Have a great day.
