Diabetic with Gastric Sleeve, did I chose the wrong surgery?
Soli3l replied to Soli3l's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am type 2 Diabetes, for 12 yrs...my number is like 136 - 141 fasting blood sugar. I also have thyroid issues - low metabolism, it is controlled by medication. The doctor wants to put me back on insulin, but last time I gained 49lbs with lap band and insulin so I don't want that. When I follow the Atkins diet 25 - 30 carbs I lose weight, but when I'm not on it I stay the same or gain. I'm tired of my doctor and nut telling me it's my diabetes, I should've gotten the gastric bypass, they make lose hope on my sleeve. I do the Jillian Michaels last chance workout 6 days a week. My typical day is: Breakfast: 2 eggs, ham and coffee Snack: apple and some cheddar cheese lunch and Dinner: salad (romaine lettuce, feta cheese, onions, 2 cherry tomatoe, oil and vinegar, canned tuna. Snack: Atkins bar Struggle with my Water intake. -

Sleeved Nov 14, 2012 My calorie intake 1200. Lost 30lbs so far, my Nut says I'm a slow loser due to diabetes and she suggested I do 20min of exercise a day. -
Today at my post op appointment I asked my surgeon: "Everyone has different size stomachs, how do you know how much to cut?" He said: that he inserts a tube in the stomach and he staples around it, this way all his patients have the same size stomach. He said your sleeve is the size of a hot dog.

I was sleeved 11/14/12 lost 21lbs so far, hit a couple of stalls too, have to keep working on my water and protein. Haven't started exercising yet, but I also thought it would go faster. And can also eat anything, sometimes up to 3/4 cup of food. -
I was discharged yesterday. I can't take my Percocet it makes me itchy and gives me bad heartburn. So I switched to Tylenol. One sip at a time and one burp at a time. After surgery I said what did I do to myself? For heartburn I was told to take an antacid. Can only get in a couple of teaspoons of chicken broth and a couple of sips of Water.

Sleeved Nov 14 I have lost 20lbs but I am also in the 3 week stall. Trying hard to get my Water in I drink about 35oz. Menu L - egg D - 1 oz meat I know I need to eat more and drink more. But I tend to get hungry around 9pm. I'm nauseous a lot of the time. I may vomit at times. Cold other times. My left incision finally stopped hurting on Sunday. I take Colace Stool Softner. I cannot tolerate Protein shakes I find them toooo sweet. -
Nope, I take tums for heart burn and it increases the nausea feeling.

Frustrated And Disgusted...
Soli3l replied to Soli3l's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've never been an emotional eater, especially since I lived with the lap band. I never knew what to eat because what I would eat today might not go down tomorrow. I am allowed to eat regular foods but have no appetite. So I will start to force myself to eat, do I could meet my Protein and liquids which I'm not meeting my 1/4 of my goals. Thank you everyone for your continued support and experiences. -
Glad to know everyone is doing great. This is a work in progress. I can eat food but not craving it. Sticking with liquids because I know I won't vomit.
-
Glad to hear everyone doing awesome. I am having difficulty drinking all of my water and protein. I have the ok from my surgeon to eat food, but since I spent the day vomiting I went back to liquids. My left incision pain has increased, it got infected, it's next to my belly button, so I'm taking antibiotics.

Do U Get Nauseated When U Eat
Soli3l replied to mbabercrombie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started to eat soft foods today...although my doctor gave me the ok to introduce a new food a day. But even if I have one bite...i get nausea and eventually throw up. -
-
My hunger kicks in after 9pm. My doctor told me to skip the purée/soft food stage and to start adding one food at a time. It's what I've been waiting for, but, I'm taking it easy.
