    BMI=obese/no comorbities

    WOW that is crazy!! insurance companies SUCK!!! My insurance wont pay for my surgery at all. It is a written exclusion in my companies policy!!! I was 390 lbs at 33 years old and a teacher a life long profession. In my opinion it was be smarter and cheaper for them to pay for the surgery than the health problems caused by the weight. But anyway, I am self pay and I am going to Mexico. If i were you I don't think I could gain the 25lbs when i am in the mindset to lose the weight. If you have not thought about Mexico you may want to do some research on it. My surgery is 5500 dollars because I have a high BMI but if your BMI is under 50 its like 4700. If you need any info on Mexico there is a thread on here or message me.

    Help, I can't stop eating

    It's called a food funeral. I live in New Orleans I started my pre op diet in October and every weekend my husband and I went our favorite places to eat and eat our favorite foods. Until the doc Rx pre op diet now we are on the strick diet I still had boiled shrimp lastnight it was in a salad. The only thing I missed is the king cake :/
  3. I am going to mexico feb 8th for surgery and i am very confident in my choice of doctors. I am getting sleeved by Dr. Lopez. I read that the reson the complication rate is so low in mexico is for two reasons: first is that the doctors in Mexico basicly just do the the weight loss surgery for example a doctor in mexico may have done 2500 in a year compaired to a US doctor that may only do 800 a year. Also the Mexcio weight loss is a service industry; if they get a bad name no one will go and they will not make money. The second reason is that other than leaks that occur at the time of surgery or while you are in mexico complication are not reported once back in the US.

    Prevent excess skin

    my doctor told me that i will have some lose skin no matter what but it usually takes about three years for it to get to "normal" as long as I take care of myself. He suggested I do toning excerise and use vitamin E orally and oils on my skin and stay well hydrated. As far as compression garments i dont think they really have a long term effect but i will be using them once i lose the weight so clothes will fit better. I have a friend that sells these things called "the wraps" they work on her it is only temp but it may be something you want to check out
  8. good luck!! thanks for posting this because i am going in two weeks and it is great to know what to expect!

    February Sleevers?

    I started my pre op deit in October when I made my deposit. I started drinking two protein shakes a day and a low carb dinner. I went from 390lbs to 348lbs (as of yesterday). Yesterday I started my doc Rx pre op which is the protein shakes and low carb dinner for 14 days then 4 days of a clear liquid diet. I have to be honest I am tired of the shakes. Today I only had one so far but I went to sonic and got a route 44 cup of ice and poured a hunger crystal light over it so i have been sipping on that and eating the ice. I know later I may have to have the shake but it seems to be working for me as of now....

    Isopure

    i added a mango pineapple sf packet to the bottle and poured it over a huge cup of sonic ice it lasted all day i sipped on it and ate the ice. I am still pre op i hope it works like that for me post op

    Do you ever regret your surgery?

    I have tried many times. I got down to 135lbs just to gain it back because i do not have the will power to only eat 800 or 1200 calories a day. It starts off like oh this peice of cake wont hurt then before you know you are downing a fried shrimp poboy and a large diet coke weight twice as much as you did before you started. If I had the self controll and will power to only eat 1200 calories a day i would not weigh what i do. I need sleeve as a tool to help me.

    Do you ever regret your surgery?

    I am not sleeved yet however, i have NO problem losing weight. I have always been able to lose the weight but keeping it off is a different story! I am pretty sure we have all been on MANY MANY MANY diets and can teach a class on the does and don't of weight loss. However, we or sould i say I do not have the will power to do it on my own. The sleeve is a TOOL we still have to work at losing the weight, but the sleeve is our little personal trainer of food when we eat something we are not supposed to it will let us know! I have been protein shakes since October and everyone at work keeps asking are you sure you want to have surgery you are doing so well on the shakes my answer to them is I know myself. I Know I CAN NOT live off the shakes for the rest of my life. I know i can not live off of 800 cals a day either.

    Freaked myself out...

    i have to be honest i am scared about the pain also, however i spoke with a few people that had the surgery and they said it is like gallbladder surgery. I had my gallbladder and was up and walking four hours later. they only thing that hurt was my throat and my stomach was sore at the cuts. So i am hoping people are correct

    I need help getting back on track

    I found a protein powder that is good!! I mix it with the pre made EAS carbadvantage shakes. The protein powder is called amp from GNC i got the chocolate, vanilla, and unflavored. I take one scoop of which ever i am in the mood for add two table spoons of decaf instant coffee, a vanilla eas shake and ice and blend it. It taste like a frozen coffee drink from starbucks! or I do the chocolate shake with the extra chocolate protein powder with the PB2 powder and ice and blend it taste like a peanutbutter cup! and with the AMP protein added to the EAS shakes each shake is 41 grams of protein!
