    Height, Weight, And Size Poll

I am 5'10" Highest recorded weight pre surgery was 383. I was a size 32 and wore 4x or 5x shirts. At surgery I was 353. Now, almost 1 month post surgery (sleeved 10/22) I weigh 334.7, so I've lost nearly 50 pounds total. I am down 2 sizes, comfortably in a 28. I am wearing my 2x shirts again.
  2. Yeah, but it also comes with the munchies. I'm figuring a bag of sliders at 4 am is gonna be on the "worst things to consume" list with a sleeve.
  3. So I wake up, weigh, down no weight. Get annoyed, sit around for an hour, go back, weigh again, down 1.3 pounds. Re-weigh myself 3 more times to make sure scale doesn't lie. Celebrate!

  4. ..... exercise? Walk immediately, restricted to no lifting over 25 pounds for six weeks. ....drink alcohol? Six months out. .... smoke cigarettes? ( I am sure the doctor would tell you not to start again.) Pretty much "if you've gone this long without it, might as well not do it any more" though I quit years before surgery when I got tired of chronic bronchitis. .... smoke marijuana? Given the obvious side effect to this one I'd figure it would be one of the worst things I could do with a sleeve. Nothing like being rabid hungry and eating too much AND of the wrong things to undo the entire point of VSG in the first place. ... anything else? Well I ended up disregarding some of the "get back to normal eating" schedule and started eating certain things (Protein heavy like poultry/fish) way early.

    Almost 2 Weeks Post Op

I had some pretty bad nausea issues up until about 4 weeks post op. They put me on hardcore anti nausea stuff 24/7 and even then it still wasn't enough. At some point my body just got over it, though. Hopefully time will help

    I Didnt Believe You

Seriously, I love peanut butter. This must be shared.
  7. When I was on my 2nd phase I was told creamy soups/no chunk soups only. So basically that's a lot of tomato soup or cream of ____ soup or soup in a blender. Oh and a ton of boullion. I'd recommend Better Than Boullion brand, that stuff is amazing.

    How Long After?

    I was told to wait at least six months, which is making me cry because I've got soju tucked in my cabinet just waiting ;_;
  9. Okay, I totally <3 peanut butter so I ordered the samples. We'll see how this goes. I've really struggled to find a protein drink that doesn't make me sick, so at this point I'll try anything!

    Met-Rx Protein Plus Protein Bars

Just based on the recommendations I was given I wouldn't eat the whole thing at once. I was advised not to have more than 19g carb at a go unless it's really fiber heavy (beans).

One Week And Two Days Out And I've Lost....

Yeah, it took me a full week to lose all the weight I gained from being in the hospital for 2 days. I put on like 15 pounds just from all the fluid the pumped me full of. To me it sounds like you're getting exactly the results you should be

    Please Help Me

Ohh, you sound just like me! I was also sleeved on 10/22 and I've had a lot of problems with nausea. I would wake up, drink Breakfast, and feel sick for 3 hours until it was gone. One thing that my surgeon's office did was get me some strong anti nausea medication to take 24/7. It helped immensely and while I'm not taking it all the time now, it was invaluable until my body healed a little more. Another thing I did was listen to what my body wanted to eat, and for me? Well, that's meant that I haven't been drinking a lot of Protein drinks (clear or shakes) because for some reason after surgery my taste buds were just revolted by it Get some good quality unflavored Protein powder and mix it in with your food or try to find drinks you can stand to blend it in (for me, hot chocolate!). If it sounds like it would taste good, it probably will. If the thought of it makes you want to hurl, it probably will. It does get better, though.

    Excercise Help Needed

I also agree with the walking suggestion. Prior to surgery when I walked I was kind of like the Big Bad Wolf, you know, a lot of huffing and puffing with no real results. Once I felt good enough to start walking, I found that even just the little amount of weight I've gotten off that my joints didn't hurt, I wasn't getting as out of breath, and that I had a lot more energy. I went from walking to the end of the block to a mile a day in no time.
  14. *crosses fingers* I think my stall is done! I'm down a pound both yesterday and today!

    Question?

For me at 9 days out I was getting the lectures for not getting my 70 grams of Protein in. I suppose if you're putting Protein Powder in the gatorade, it's all good (as long as it's sugar free). One of the things that's going to help you heal and protect you as you lose weight is getting the protein in, so it's pretty important. If you're using bariatric Vitamins, they should be good to take from the start, as they're formulated for post surgery. I'm only taking 1 Bariatric Advantage chew a day. Why so many? Just curious Also, make sure any calcium you take is calcium citrate. There is a difference.
  16. And that's why even something this drastic isn't a cure all. One of the things that was hammered in to my head from the start was that if I wanted to I could completely sabotage myself. Right now, it's pretty easy not to, but down the line once I can actually eat? Yeah, it'll be there. One of my biggest fears is that I'll do everything right and it still won't work.
  17. Not a doc, but it sounds a lot like my blood pressure experiences. Are you running a fever at all?
  18. Would totally do it again. If I could do it over again, I wouldn't overprepare like I did for post-surgery. All the preparation I did was for nothing because my body had a totally different response to surgery than I planned for.

    Udon

    Mm, don't forget the miso.
  20. My mom had a hard time when I told her. She thought it was pretty drastic, too, but when I approached her she knew I wasn't looking for opinions on it and that my mind was made up. My mom wanted to know every little thing about the procedure and ultimately when I had my surgery, she was the one who was here to help me out during and afterward. Honestly? She's scared for you. It's a big thing and she can't help you or protect you. If it's going to be a constant fight, you have to do what's best for you and if that means being able to say "Mom, we're not discussing this, let's talk about something else." then so be it. When she sees that you're happier and healthier, she'll be okay with it.

    Day 8 Of This Stall

Yeah. One thing that boggles the mind is that I'm getting tons of compliments on how I look even better than I did "last week" even though I've not lost weight. Strangest compliment I got? I was told that my SHOULDERS "looked really skinny". I laughed

    Day 8 Of This Stall

*hops on the bandwagon* I'm a week and a half in to mine and I'm so ready to be done already. How I've gained a pound eating less than 700 calories most days I dunno, but screw you body.

My personal Christmas challenge is to not go face first in to the sweet potatoes.

    Calcium Citrate

These are what I use: http://www.bariatricadvantage.com/catalog/categoryHandler?cat=Bariatric%20Advantage%20%3A%20Calcium It's what my surgeon recommended. The lemon ones are pretty tasty. They've also got chewable wafers but those are not nearly so good, imo.

    Sleeping On My Stomach

I'm a stomach/side sleeper and I was back to sleeping as normal at about week 3. I slept in my recliner for the first 2 weeks or so. I still sleep with a pillow at my side to support my stomach, though. It just feels better.
