    iron deficient anemic

I am, and I never quit taking my normal iron supplement. I'd suppose it would depend on what the herbs are whether they'll be safe or not.

    Is this normal :/

Yup, it took me almost a week to lose the weight I put on in the two days I was in the hospital. Pre-op I lost 30 pounds. I put on 15 pounds of water weight in just two days from surgery.

    wine at 6 weeks anyone?

I was told it was a no go for six months and that my doc advises no more than a glass, preferably less. Keep in mind that alcohol will also dehydrate you and that's one of the last things we want.

    Body smell after vs

The smell of infection is greatly different from the smell of body odor. If it were infection there would be other signs like pain, fever, redness/tenderness or pus around any incision points. He'd be more likely to notice it before his wife did. Like others have said, it's most likely ketosis. I bust out the extra strong deodorant just for that very reason. Ketosis makes me stinky

    Nectar Protein Help?

I've tried tons of Nectar flavors and I hated them ALL. I get that some people can tolerate them, but I found them disgusting. Any reason you're so attached to wanting to like Nectar?

    Why am i so hungry

Certain things like gas, stomach acid, and esophageal spasms can all mimic "hungry" feelings. Take some GasX and an acid reducer, see if you still feel hungry.

Post Op - Day #4 need advice

For me it was just the fact that it wasn't comfortable to sleep on my side for the first couple weeks. After that, I did it with some pillow support until I could lay normally without any pain or discomfort.

    confuse

Sleeve all the way for me. I didn't want to deal with the problems that come with a bypass - like greater risk of leaks because they're rerouting my intestines! Less choice in what I can eat, too. While I might have lost more weight faster with a bypass I can't complain about what I've lost so far.

    six weeks out

Eh, I'm getting a ton of Vitamins that I wouldn't otherwise be getting. I could eat straight Protein (fish, eggs, whatever) for breakfast but there's not going to be nearly as much protein and vitamins in it as there is in a 170 calorie shake. I have the rest of the day to eat "real" food, and I do. I normally eat some cottage cheese, a Protein Bar if I'm in a hurry, fish, almonds, turkey or other deli meat every couple hours during the day. Otherwise I'd never get in my 70 grams required protein.

    Just curious....

The week before I went on my liquid diet, I pigged out on everything. One day was chicken nuggets, one day was Thai food, the next was burgers and fries, then Chinese buffet, etc. While it's not that I'll never have those things again, it's that they're forever associated in my head with eating food in large quantities and I don't know if I could eat them without OVEREATING them, so I plan to stay away from them.

    six weeks out

I generally drink a meal replacement shake for this reason. I was never really a breakfast person, and surgery didn't change that. This way I get my protein and vitamins and I don't have to cook anything or take the time to eat it.

    3 week liquid diet?

I was 383 and was only required to do 2 weeks. I lost 30 pounds prior to surgery (15 of which I gained back in the 2 days I was in the hospital ). The first week was rough. By the second week I HATED shakes and actually called my doctor's office to see if I could just drink 3 of them rather than the 5 they wanted. I just wasn't hungry any more and the idea of forcing myself to drink them was UGH. My advice is if you're going to start early, start on a weekend or some time where you're able to just devote your time to getting used to the liquid diet. By the time I had done it for a week or so, I had it down to a science. If you're blending your own shakes, invest in the XS size storage containers ("100 calorie") to store pre measured powder and mix-ins so all you have to do is grab one of each and you're ready to go.

Post Op - Day #4 need advice

I second the tummy support pillow if you're a side sleeper. I actually set my pillows up like a horseshoe and slept in the middle. As long as I had support, I was good.
  14. I just got back from my EGD to stretch the opening between my esophagus and pouch because of those. My advice is warm liquid and if you have a heating pad, place it on your chest to help calm the spasms. If you have a recliner or any way to sleep at an incline, do so because I ended up inhaling stomach acid during an attack. They ended up giving me a low dose (2.5mg) of Norvasc for off label use to relax the esophagus and it worked after a few days.

    #@$% stall!

My weight's been inching down this week and it's driving me insane. Not an outright stall, but it's like my body's going "NYAH NYAH" at me
  16. Yep, as motion sickness is really rooted in your inner ear, the stomach doesn't have much say in the matter.
  17. I still get nauseated if I eat or drink anything cold. My new stomach hates it.
  18. The only complication I was advised of when it comes to losing weight quickly (like most sleeve patients will - more than 2lbs a week) was that it can impact the gall bladder and lead to gallstones. I was given medicine to help keep this from happening my first 6 months.

    Day two post op!

Your stomach is going to be really sensitive, just remember that I don't really remember much of my two days in the hospital, only how amazing it was when I got to have broth! Take tiny sips, less than a tablespoon if that makes you uncomfortable. If anything, talk to your hospital staff and make sure that everything's okay.
  20. The first day I got sleeved they didn't even let me drink. I was allowed ice chips only while in the hospital the first day, once an hour. I was on too many meds to really worry about it, though. My first day most of what I did was sleep and hurt. The sensation you feel is probably gas, so take something for it and see if it helps.

    Able to eat an egg?

I did. I actually scrambled TWO of them thinking that it was gonna be no big deal. After all, I could eat four with no problem before surgery, amirite? I managed to eat about half of what I cooked but oh man was I full
  22. TheGamer

    Gained 4 lbs and bummed

My stall came with a weight gain, too. It was close to 3 pounds, I think? Since then I've had mostly loss, but occasionally I'll have a couple days where I don't lose, or a day where I put on a pound and take it right back off the next day. Bodies are strange >.>
  23. I love making up some blueberry tea (Celestial Seasonings) and adding in frozen blueberries and a little splenda to a vanilla shake. It looks like you stuck a smurf in a blender and tastes delicious.
  24. What kind are you taking that you'd call them yummy? I could use yummy ones. Mine are gross.
  25. Hehe. I love weighing less in the evening than I did this morning!
