This Time Tomorrow I'll Be Banded For Life!!
PaulaD replied to marcar35's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Congratulations to all the newbie! Welcome to the other side. Take care of yourself! -
Hello Goldthimble, Yes, I am a secretary at Londonderry High School. This is my third year and was a SPED para prior to that! Can you call your insurance company or call your SAU benefits coordinator to see if it is covered? You are far along in the process. What a shame if it is not covered! Keep in touch and let me know.

Personally, I would answer "no" on the depression question. Yes, everybody feels sad at times but that is different than depression. Good luck!
-
annielkd, absolutely! Run, not walk, to your nearest drug store and buy some gas-x strips! Just put on your tongue and works great!

Goldthimble, I went to my first meeting on Jan. 3rd. and was banded on May 17th. I was fortunate to not have to loose any weight prior as my BMI was 37. I was encourged to gain or maintain my weight. (First time I every heard those words!) I had most of my paperwork done and sent within a month. Most of my time was spent waiting for Dr. and nutri. visits. I have Anthem (Matthew Thornton Blue). I was approved within 2 days as I have so many co-morbidities, fatty liver being the last one to be discovered last Dec. I live in Derry and had all my appointments, minus psycological, in Manchester. Where are you in this process?
-
Thank you. I try to get my 45 min. walk every day. My surgeon is a Nazi when it comes to excercising and now that I have the band I will see results!

Sasha, I suffer from depression and when I had my psycological for the surgery it was with the Dr. I see normally! We had a good talk about this very subject and the Dr. can write it up that the patient would benefit from this surgery to gain self esteem and feeling better about ones self can open tons of doors. I do believe that depression was used as a co-morbidity but ranked low in my case. Good luck with whatever you choose to do.

Thank you! I am only 10 days post op and went to a cookout today. Had my water and pudding. Not too bad. This was a choice I made and can live with it!!!

Post-Op Pain Survey Questions
PaulaD replied to Alexandra's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
1. Was your procedure outpatient or did you stay overnight? Stayed overnight because of some bleeding of one of the "stab" sites. 2. Did you have complications related to surgery? Not considered a complication. 3. What you were given for at home pain? How many days did you take it? Liquid Roxicet. Taken first day only! 4. Pain after surgery for how many days? About 2-3 days. Gas pains were worse! 5. Degree of pain...10 being your arm was cut off and 1 being a paper cut? Pain from surgery was around a "3." Shoulder pain can hit a 7-8 easily. 6. Doctor and state where surgery was done? Dr. Connie Campbell, C.M.C. Manchester, NH -

I am so sorry to hear about your teenage adventure. Can't even have "me time" at a time like this. I was 6 days post op. and did a very similiar thing! We are not Dr.'s but better safe than sorry and you should call. Hope life will be easier for you. We are hear for lots of shoulders to cry on and ears to listen with. -
Good Morning All! I found the shoulder pain worse than the actual banding. Gas-X worked the best. It comes in strips and you just put a couple on your tongue to dissolve and pain is releaved! Hope this helps

Another NH person here! I live in Derry and was banded on May 17, 2007 by Dr. Connie Campbell at CMC. She is very good and so far, so good!
