I have a complete aversion to exercise--rant
Nicolanz replied to LEILE's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh man I hate it too!!!! I have a gym membership that I use maybe twice a month. But, I always park in the back when I go to work or stores, I use the stairs several times a day, and I'm a nurse so I get my 10,000 steps a day. I found Yoga by Adrienne on YouTube and she has a two 30 day challenges. I love it! I started for the stress relief. Not only are my moods better but now I have muscle tone and flexibility. I love it and it's the perfect end to my hectic days! The key is just finding something you enjoy doing. -

One year out - can I still lose?
Nicolanz replied to rhayla's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Whether or not you're done losing weight is up to you not the sleeve! You got this! I'm 3 years out. Last year I was in nursing school and gained 15 pounds....... yikes!!!! After I graduated, I got back to eating protein and veggies only, drinking 64 oz of water daily, and hitting up the gym 3-4 days a week. Those 15 pounds left in just 2 months and they are never coming back!! -
Are you eventually able to eat anything?
Nicolanz replied to heidikate's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can have a bite or two of something sweet but that's it. I've never really been a sweets person anyway. I definitely can't drink anything with sugar. -

Nicolanz replied to heidikate's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 3 years out and can eat mostly everything. Sugar makes me flush and have heart palpitations. Fried food makes me nauseous. -
serious question for fellow "veterans"
Nicolanz replied to CowgirlJane's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Of course you're relevant! You provide such knowledge and experience that is needed for those who want the truth. I'm 3 years out but haven't logged in for a year or more due to all the useless bickering. BUT for those truly seeking answers, people like you are valued. There are a lot of people who just read and don't post. I'm sure you've helped more people than you know. -
That's awesome! Congrats!

Okay vets - how are you doing on your vitamins/minerals supplements?
Nicolanz replied to CowgirlJane's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I'm a nurse at a health and wellness center so I take several vitamins. Vitamin D, magnesium, and balanced hormones are best at building bone. Calcium may cause more harm than good by depositing in the arteries. We tell all of our patients to get off calcium. Just something to think about. I take d, mag, methylated b vitamins, fish oil, co q 10, taurine, and a multivitamin. -

Hey guys and gals! I decided to give the 5:2 a try! After nursing school and the holidays, I've managed to put on 15 pounds and I feel like I've put on 50. My goal is to lose those 15 plus another 20 maybe. Yesterday was my first fast and it was hard and empowering at the same time. I drank tons of Water which I have been having a terrible time doing since surgery over two years ago. At around 3pm I ate 6 cherry tomatoes (13 calories) and around 6:30 I had seafood spaghetti (400 calories). Plus the milk in my coffee, I ended the day at 492 calories. I think waiting until the end of the day to eat really helped me get through my evening workout and to sleep without being hungry. I plan to do Monday and Friday because my husband works those nights. How is everyone doing? Are there any long term success stories? Is this maintainable? What is your fast day routine?

Netflix what are you watching? Which series do you love!?
Nicolanz replied to woo woo's topic in The Lounge
Right now I'm watching Call The Midwife and Peaky Blinders. I agree, grab the box of tissues for Call The Midwife! If you're into dark, slightly inappropriate, and disturbing entertainment.....Black Mirror is probably the best show I've ever seen. There's only six shows and it's like a modern day Twilight Zone that explores the possibilities of technology and human behavior. -

I just realized you're craving dark chocolate lol. I like the freezing a bar idea! I'm going to try that! -

Have you tried the toasted coconut almonds? They are 100% delicious! -
I just bought a coat at goodwill for 5.99!

It's so important for healing to get up and move! Tell your mom she's slowing the healing process by holding you hostage! Lol.

I'm a little over 2 years post op and I am cold all the time! I even had my thyroid checked but it came out normal. I live in Houston so it doesn't get as cold as other places but I'm shivering! I hate it! I still can't drink with meals, can't even eat soup, it hurts! So, I'm with you on both things!
