Thinking Of Having The Sleeve Done , But Im Scared Any Words Of Wisdom ?
Nicolanz replied to luv2plumb's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Recovery sucked for me and was a breeze for my best friend. Everyone is different. I can assure you, a lifetime of health far outweighs the maybe 3 weeks of hell. My friend and I grew up together and have always struggled with our weight. We both agree this is the best thing we've ever done for ourselves! I'm a year out now, down 106 pounds, down 10 sizes, from a 47 inch waist to a 36. I can exercise, I have energy, and I can for once in my life wear cute clothes! Every aspect of my life has improved. The greatest change is my confidence. For the first time ever, I feel worthy to live the life I deserve. -
Happy surgiversary, Laura!!! You've come a long way, try to focus on the positive. Your brother is free from these burdens. I'm not sure what your beliefs are, but his energy is all around you. Embrace it, smile with his comfort. Know he doesn't want you to suffer. Celebrate his life and the time you've had with him. I really hope you find peace with every aspect of your life. Much love to you and your family.

Looking For The Heaviest Sleevers...
Nicolanz replied to mage54's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow!!!!! Look at you, rockin it before surgery! Amazing! I wish I would have done that. I gained 10 pounds before surgery, looking at it as a free pass since I was about to have wls. I don't recommend that at all! You are going to be a huge success, I just know it. Good luck to you and I can't wait to hear about your success too. -
I'm a year out and ate sushi not too long ago. I haven't heard anything about not being able to eat it forever. I wonder if anyone else has!

I owe my life to this surgery and am way too proud of my journey to lie about it. That said, I can definitely see how some would want it kept a secret. It's hard to live up to other's expectations of what this surgery entails and draining to answer the same questions over and over! I'm an established hairstylist and talk to A LOT of people on a daily basis. I'd like to discuss anything other than my weight loss at this point. Lol

Apparently We All Kvetch The Same Way
Nicolanz replied to gamergirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There sure is an uproar, huh? People want it fixed and they want it fixed NOW! I feel sorry for team having to deal with all of this. Usually with any new technology, there will be glitches. I'm an avid "current thread" reader, so I'm sure I will be constantly posting in the wrong forum, lol! -
Bridging The Gap
Nicolanz replied to Butterthebean's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Woohoo! I, for one, am excited to hear about the journeys of all wls patients! How exciting it is to incorporate the ideas and approaches of all the surgeries available. We may have had different surgeries, but the common goal to living a happier, healthy life is the same. P.S. there's absolutely no reason not to like the bean. He is the sweetest! -
This is my concern too.

Just putting it out there, so 'dirty' little secrets may see the light of day!
Nicolanz replied to Madam Reverie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I guess what bothers me is that these kinds of posts are being perceived as enabling. Once the actual surgery is over what are our main concerns? Food and fitness. Life after the sleeve, right? Maybe I'm not on the site as much as others, but what I have not seen is people telling others to continue with destructive behavior. How is it enabling? I see it as getting it off your chest and moving on. Let's move on together. How do we move on? It's all a learning experience. -

It's life. Outside and inside the forum, we have to make choices. I see a lot of pointing the finger at anything and everything but one's self. Addiction, enabling, him, her, anything! Bottom line is most of us are adults with a functioning brain. I LOVE cheetos but I can't blame the store for selling them or Sally for talking about them when I have a cheeto binge. We have to take responsibility if anything is going to be achieved. I'm not saying this with any ill intent, I want everyone to be successful. -

It's all about how we perceive things. If you find this conversation dangerous, stay away. If helpful, contribute. We are not responsible for anyone but ourselves. I like knowing how others take on this journey and knowing I'm not alone in making mistakes, but someone confessing to eating chili fries isn't going to influence me to eat them too. I like this topic, thanks for being brave enough to start it. -
When do the mood swings go away?
Nicolanz replied to gamergirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a year out and still struggle. I've never been depressed before, always happy and positive. But now usually around that time of the month, I hate everything and don't want to do anything. With my extremely busy schedule its debilitating. I was thinking about seeing a doc about it but I'm on the fence about taking meds. Would love to hear other's input. -
Lol yea that's what I meant

I think if a stranger flat out called me an a**hole for venting my struggles, apology or not, I would think they sucked as a person! Lol that was really bold.....right?

The annoying new habits that came to be with my sleeve...
Nicolanz replied to LipstickLady's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Haha! My new obsession is taking pics of myself. I don't annoy others with my photos, they are for my own enjoyment. I was just thinking this morning about how I've spent my entire life hating how I look and all of a sudden, I finally see myself as beautiful. All these changes are blessings. Congratulations! -
Well, they are delicious!

My b12 was way high so I stopped taking them. I only take a multivitamin.
