What's Your Plan For Thanksgiving Dinner?
Nicolanz replied to gamergirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Turkey, brussel sprouts, green bean casserole, and pecan pie is what I've been dreaming about for the past week!!! Omg, Brazilian steakhouses are the best!!!!! I would choose the same four thing you did! Yum! Enjoy! -
I tried it once and loved it! It wasn't a healthy love. It's legal (if prescribed) speed! I can definitely see how one could become addicted.

What's Your Food Philosophy: Abstain Forever Or Eat In Moderation?
Nicolanz replied to Disabledaccount's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't think it matters where you are in your journey to answer this particular question. The answer is very personal and depends on an individual's relationship with food. I have 25 pounds left to lose and my philosophy has always been everything in moderation. It works for me and I work out a lot. I'm still working on my relationship with food but I think abstaining will cause more damage as it has in the past. I just wanna be normal, damnit! I may sing a different tune when I'm in maintenance, but this is where I'm at now. -

You are special! BUT "stalls" happen. I've lived most of my journey in a "stall". It's weird. I don't lose an ounce for maybe four weeks, then suddenly I'm down 5-10 pounds and they cycle starts again. Now that I'm closer to goal, I have lost 10 pounds over the last 4 months. As long as I'm not gaining, I'm happy!!!! I'm a little over a year out now, and even though it seemed like I was always in a "stall," I've lost 108 pounds! I think patience is the hardest part of the losing phase!

I've never been the competitive type. I'm always in my own little world and only worry about myself. Others have definitely motivated me, but never been envious. I work hard to improve myself not sit back and hate on those who may have it better or worse. I surround myself with like-minded people. But I work with a lot of women who always point out whatever negative point they can about my endeavors. When I told my client I was pregnant, her reply, "my coworker lost her baby 6 months into her pregnancy" Another client pointed out that my boobs are shrinking due to my weightloss. When I went back to school to be a nurse, one client said,"ewws I could never do that" . Someone is always going to try to bring you down when you're succeeding. I try not to let anyone influence me but as you can see, I still remember every word of their negative comments. Does it affect my happiness? Hell no! I realize they are unhappy and I usually reply with something positive. I have come to the conclusion that misery loves company. I choose not to be their companion.

Story Of An Emotionally Battered Fat Girl
Nicolanz replied to jdmama911's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Wow! You have been through a lot! I had a dream the other night that I saw the young me. I wanted to give her a hug and tell her everything will be okay, trust in your strength. I didn't because I didn't want to scare her/me. It was such a powerful dream, don't you wish you could comfort the young you? Hugs to you! I admire your strength to turn your life around. A lot of people don't take that opportunity. You should be very proud! -
I agree with everyone here. It sounds like your husband has been faithfully married to you for 21 years. Show him a little respect. I would be utterly devastated if I found out my husband was giving" just a few kisses" to another woman.

Last night I realized I'm only 30 pounds heavier than my skinny ass husband! At one point i was 150 pounds heavier than him!

I don't know my bougie size either. Butter, that food sounds absolutely heavenly! I ate huge amounts before surgery as well. I love food, yes, but if I'm being honest with myself, I ate just to eat. I didn't always choose good/tasty food. Just food. Major addiction, right? I still struggle and the struggle is getting harder rather than easier. I've strayed though. From this site, from my fitness pal, from all support. I realize support is what I'm going to need forever. So, my goal is to get back into reading these posts, track my calories, and fitness. I haven't stopped working out, so that's one good thing!

My ass is pretty sad looking these days. Used to nice and round. Now? It gets flatter by the minute! When I ask, "does my ass look big?" He better say YES!!!!!!

There are great healthy recipes online. I like skinnytaste.com. My husband hates anything called healthy but he doesn't feel deprived when I cook. I still cook him rice, potatoes, or Pasta to fill him up and I'll eat cauliflower for rice or quinoa. He's extremely active and skinny, though. I understand the role of a mother. It's absolutely exhausting! But in my situation, my husband works 3rd shift and watches the kids during the day while I'm at work or at school. We're both exhausted but because I'm home at night, I am the cook. I never stopped cooking for the family and those first couple of months were HARD! I can't imagine being denied this surgery. It would put me into a deep depression. I'm sure your husband is experiencing an emotional roller coaster without knowing how to express himself. Start out with small changes. Doing a complete overhaul will discourage everyone.

I mean, good luck!

I personally know 3 who have been banded. 1 never lost a significant amount and the other 2 gained all of their weight back. I know 2 people who where sleeved 2 years before me and are still at or very close to goal. For me, that helped me make my choice! Good luck?!

Wow wow wowee! You look amazing! Congratulations!

Oh man, that sucks! I didn't have a problem, as a matter of fact, I was able to eat more than I thought! Maybe it will get better.
