    Boy did I mess up!

As far as a leak goes, some people are allowed crackers during the pureed stage. Your saliva begins the breakdown of carbs and I'm pretty sure it has no chance against stomach acid! I think your safe.

    Talk Me Down!

I did the same thing tonight but I ate one. It made me so full but boy did it start some mean cravings!

    OR story

I'm sure the embarrassment was lesson enough! I would have done the same thing you did.

What is your essential cooking tool?

I didn't read your whole post, obviously haha!

What is your essential cooking tool?

Food processor! I'm lazy and I hate chopping veggies. Plus I can make a pretty awesome hummus and creamy soups!

    Scared of failure...

Well two good things: you're already aware men lose faster and with the sleeve, you can forget about out eating anyone! Be happy with your progress and for your husband's. He may get there faster but know you WILL get there. It's not a competition. He's still going to have the same struggles as you. Work together! It will probably bring you closer. What a blessing it is to have someone going through this with you!

    Leaks

It seems that with the amount of people just on this site the leak percentage would be more than 1%! I did read somewhere that with the gaining popularity of the sleeve, complication rates are rising. So maybe 1% is an outdated statistic?
  9. Yes! But not like I did when I was pregnant, good Lord that's the worst! Anyway, I take omezeprole (sp?). It is over the counter and I believe it took about 3 days to start working but I haven't had any issue since. A prescription might be cheaper depending on your insurance but if you don't want to go down that route, just stop by your local grocery or drug store and pick some up.

    what to do?

Amazon's post usually tend to be negative. I usually ignore her. No worries. I'm wondering if there's an update as well.

    stitches

My incisions opened!!! I kept them clean with wound wash and kept them dry. Do not use peroxide, it kills new cells forming and don't use any ointments or creams if they are open. It can trap in bacteria. Keep an eye on them if they get really red or ooze it could be infected. Call your doc immediately! Mine healed it took about a month and a half.

33 BMI and scheduled for VG...

I hope I'm not giving the impression that I'm not being supportive. This surgery is serious and should be a last resort. I reread the comments and discovered the hardships the OP has had with weight. I definitely understand that! I just hope she's really thought about all this entails especially since now she is healthy. A BMI of 35 with comorbities is a candidate for surgery. Also I'm 5'9 so from my perspective, under 200 pounds would be thin to me. But I understand it's not for everyone and especially if you carry your weight in your abdominal area, it's dangerous.

33 BMI and scheduled for VG...

It's scary that doctors even agree to do this surgery on anyone who has less than 100 pounds to lose and especially on patients under 200 pounds. Not being rude or judgemental, it's a genuine concern. There are real risks that come along with the sleeve. You admitted to being inactive, have you tried being active? How tall are you? What is your goal weight? I didn't read all the responses so sorry if you already answered. It sounds like you are already going through with it so I hope you are prepared mentally and I pray for a successful outcome!
  15. I agree with everyone else. Surgery should be your last resort. Maybe you could work with a nutritionist, start a workout regiment, see a therapist. I was working out and eating pretty healthy before surgery, the weight just wouldn't come off. Even after surgery, I'm a slow loser. I've checked my hormones and everything seems normal. I don't know why it's so hard for me to lose weight. You're so young and there are risks with this surgery. But like a previous poster said, I too was obese all of my life and by your age I was probably already 250. I was insecure and had low self esteem. If I had the opportunity to better my quality of life I probably would have. Again, it should be your last resort.
  16. And people who have been know there is absolutely no way to accommodate more patients. There's no room. Ok ok I'm done haha!
  17. And Aussie, I just had my second baby and know exactly what you are talking about!!! Haha! When I told one of my clients that I was pregnant, her first response was...."Oh, my coworker was 6 months out and just had a miscarriage because she smoked before she got pregnant" :/ Really? No congrats? And how does anyone know the cause of the miscarriage was smoking BEFORE pregnancy?
  18. I'm glad I already got the surgery too and did not come here for help. It seems everyone is okay with reading false information. This surgery is scary enough. I guess if you were really interested in seeing a surgeon, you would ignore the "I heard" stories and contact those who really saw that surgeon. If anyone needs any information about my experience, I am happy to give it! Just send a message so you don't get distracted by people who did not use Almanza. Good luck and Merry Christmas!!
  19. That's not a reply to what I said though. I physically saw 8 hospital beds. That's it.

    Bionic Smell?

    I'm wondering the same thing!
  21. That's horrific but even in that post there were 6 patients. I think this is a risk you take when you have a surgery in a different country. They do their thing then send you off back to your country. She even said not to risk having surgery in MX. Are you going to advocate for only having surgery in the US?
  22. And yea, if you have absolutely no experience with a surgeon, you should add a disclaimer.
