New guy here, you've GOT to read this!
Nicolanz replied to BigFrank's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I couldn't agree with you more, Frank! I'd like to read real people problems, be able to relate to eachother, and support eachother without someone shaking their finger at someone who needs help. With every post about a struggle, I'm so tired of hearing the "I almost died" speech! Not everything is that dramatic! The other forum mentioned has a lot more support. They don't have an app though. I had a fairly easy recovery too. The only thing I struggle with now is head hunger! Its getting better everyday. I love that I got the sleeve and would recommend it to anyone who needed it! -
The Holidays destroyed my diet, but I had fun!

Me too! But I'm back on the wagon now! -
I just cut them out with nail clippers. You can buy a suture removal kit though. Make sure everything is sterilized. I took mine out after 10 days.

Does anyone know why weight loss causes problems with the gallbladder?

If you were a binge eater before

Thanks, CurvyJ! I will check that out. Good luck, Amy! It's an ongoing battle but we can defeat this! -

2 months out and I'm starting to struggle with this again. I got a food scale for Christmas and I'm going start using it and timing my meals. -
Iggy, I know we don't always agree on how to support someone but I don't direct my comments towards you because I 100% agree that you are entitled to say it how it is. You've been through it. Laura, exactly! It's BASIC common sense that over eating makes you fat! I guess we ALL lack basic common sense, including the OP.
-
Haha Tammy, I would not question yours or anyone else's intelligence! We all know going against your doctors orders is harmful and I don't condone it. I don't and nobody else needs someone telling us we lack BASIC (the lowest form) common sense who hasn't even had the surgery!! That baffles me! I didn't cheat by the way, but I would never belittle someone in their time of weakness.

looking for any and all information (good & bad) on my potential Dr. in Mexico
Nicolanz replied to afinegirl's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I was sleeced by Almanza and the only thing I didn't like were the stitches as well. After taking them out, they looked great but a week later my incisions opened! It took a month to heal and now I'm going to have horrendous scars! I'll take the scars over being morbidly obese, but still something to take into consideration. -
Perhaps it was your last two sentences that didn't sit right with people. An addict of any kind knows what they are doing is harmful but they do it anyway. Maybe take that into consideration before you question someone's intelligence.

I drink a 5 hour daily!
-
Yea I wouldn't go spouting off about common sense until at least you've had your surgery. It's just as hard being on a liquid diet after surgery as it was before surgery.
-
You look amazing!!

Lol no Shrinky I was talking to Joy. My csection story is similar to yours though. I went to Mexico and had the sleeve done by Dr. Almanza.
-
I hope you're one of the lucky ones, lwilliam!!

Some people are blessed ::sigh:: lol

It was more painful to me. The gas pains were horrible, I had stitches which were a pain, and the drain was icky to me haha. I would do it again in a heartbeat!
-
I had 2 csections. My last one was 7 weeks before being sleeved. To me, the sleeve was worse. My csections were no problem and people were shocked that I had just had a baby. But I had no complications. I just had to care for a 7 week old when I got home.

Grrr... scale not moving.
Nicolanz replied to ShrinkyDinkMe22's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No worries Shrinkydink! I lost NOTHING the first week. 16 pounds in 18 days is amazing! You're probably still swollen, retaining water, about to start your cycle, who knows! Your body just may be holding on to the pounds right now. You'll continue to lose!!! Patience is so hard after a drastic surgery, I know! -
Denied, fighting depression.
Nicolanz replied to greensleeve's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My insurance covers the sleeve bit I knew if I was denied I'd fall into a horrible depression too. I went to Mexico and it was cheaper than paying with insurance anyway. I'm glad I did it that way to avoid the heartbreak. -
My skinny husband was a complete butthole before I had my surgery too. Every time I'd eat I could see him watching and judging me. He even told me I stuffed my face one time. He wasn't supportive and didn't want me to have the surgery. I made up my mind and didn't care what he thought. I probably would have left him if he gave me an ultimatum! This is my life and I have 2 boys to live for. Now he's totally excited and supportive. I think he was scared and acted like an ass rather than concerned.

Is it possible to lose all the weight with VSG? Why don't some people?
Nicolanz replied to Russell's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Its possible. I have a coworker who is struggling to put on a few pounds because she got too skinny. I could see how it could fail because for me personally, I can get super full and about an hour later could eat again. Now if I caved or ate calorie rich food, I'd definitely gain. I can definitely see how you could cheat the sleeve.
