Nov. 7th sleevers... Help keep me on track, PLZ!
Nicolanz replied to SweetSaso's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No way can I cut out carbs! I won't be successful and I don't want to live my life in diet mode. I'm not middle eastern but I love the food and even shop at a middle eastern grocery store. Pita is an everyday thing for me. Now I can only eat 1/4 of one! I too have lost 40 pounds! -
My job is making me fat
Nicolanz replied to chitowngirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For sure! When I was going to school to be a hairstylist, I also worked at Chickfila. I was always running around. That with dieting helped me lose 60 pounds! A few years later, I tried the same diet but wasn't working at Chickfila anymore and I only lost a few pounds. Being a hairstylist, I'm on my feet all day but standing in one spot. -
Why it's hard to keep weight off
Nicolanz replied to funinthesun00's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I learned in my nutrition class that fat cells shrink when you lose weight they don't go away. Fat cells don't like to be starved so when you lose weight, a hormone in the fat cells (could be leptin, I forgot) sends signals to the brain to eat more! Your appetite increases. This is why its especially hard for those who have been overweight as a child into adulthood to lose the weight and keep it off. Its scary! Good article. Thanks! -
is sleeve healthy or starvation?
Nicolanz replied to Karishero's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At two months out, I'm already up to 1000 calories a day. I make smart choices and only eat nutrient rich foods. The sleeve doesn't give me room for empty calories. It prevents you from over eating. Soon I hope to get to 1200 calories which is normal for a woman trying to lose weight. Without the sleeve, I could eat 1200 calories a day for a while and then crazy binge on empty calories. I can't do that now. Which is healthier? -
I've lost 40 pounds and went down one size. I have a big butt so my jean size is bigger than most my weight. You may be losing in other places.

Yes! Over and over! I regret wasting so much time deciding on whether or not to do the surgery!

Hiring private nurse in TJ?

Oh I didn't realize this was in the cosmetic surgery forum. Disregard my comment lol! -
Hiring private nurse in TJ?
Nicolanz replied to kwindham's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I stayed in a hotel and the nurses were there 24 hrs. They only came in to give antibiotics and change dressings. Who is doing your surgery? I don't think hiring a nurse would be necessary. -
You don't feel full or pain? I tried to eat cream of wheat this morning and could only eat 1/4 of a package. Make sure you aren't ignoring the full feeling. I would talk to your doc because honestly these meals sound like a meal someone who hasn't been sleeved eats. Don't freak out, you may just need to go back to basics.

Nicolanz replied to Muffin18's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know its discouraging but I just want to say, you look great! -
You look amazing! I can't wait to be where you are! I'm so sorry about the lack of support from your family. That's really hard. But, I am thrilled for your success!

I use one whole egg.
-
I put basil, cheese, and spinach.
-
I have a mini omelette every morning! It's funny because I used to make them with 4 eggs and 2 pieces of toast!
-
Crap! I just got the paragaurd!

I agree. As far as this forum goes, I think some people use the "I'm not going to candy coat" as an excuse to be an @$$hole! There's no reason to personally attack someone who is struggling.

Thoughts on Dr. Almanza
Nicolanz replied to Tiny2019's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
My best friend and I went to Almanza (a year apart). We both are doing awesome! She's below goal and I've lost 37 pounds in two months. If there's anything specific you'd like to know just ask. -
Anyone have Insomnia Post Op?
Nicolanz replied to shrinkadonk's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Me! I wonder if it's the B12? I have so much energy now and am rarely tired. I have a 3 month old, so sleep isn't on my agenda. I have crazy dreams too. -

Nobody said it was a determining factor, just a factor. -
Things I LOVE about my sleeve!
Nicolanz replied to suepeeps's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love: That eating the right foods was never my problem, just the amount. So with the sleeve I didn't have to change what I eat and portion control is so easy! That I didn't gain 10 pounds over the holidays! I can do Zumba and not skip the jumping parts! I fit into pre pregnancy clothes! I'm still early out, so that's it for now. -
I had 3 weeks off but only because I was still on maternity leave. Hopefully you'll have a smooth recovery and won't be that sore. You'll probably have to get up and walk every hour or so. Sitting for long periods will make you stiff. Good luck!
