Step away from the scale......get healthy......forget about a number that doesn't mean much. When you begin working out or upping the intensity, your body retains Water. Keep doing what you're doing and don't weigh yourself for 3 weeks. See what happens. Good luck!

How much of ur long term success is from developing healthy habits or actual restriction?
Nicolanz replied to marfar7's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
At 19 months out, healthy habits weighs in probably 80%. It's really easy to eat around the sleeve. Yea, I still have great restriction at one sitting but if i ate a cheeseburger and fries over 4 hours instead of 30 minutes. ....it really doesn't make a difference. -
Today is my one year mark since my VSG! Pictures inside.
Nicolanz replied to LipstickLady's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Wow it's been a year already?! You look amazing! Congratulations! -
I've been taking a PPI for about a year now and today I've done some reading on long-term use. A lot of websites state that it interferes with Vitamin and mineral absorption, causes osteoporosis, increases risk of infections, and rebound acid reflux. A study was done on 1000 people with no prior acid reflux who took a PPI for a certain amount of time and a big percentage of them had reflux issues up to four weeks of stopping. If I miss one day taking a PPI, I have horrible reflux. I'm wondering if I am suffering from rebound reflux and need to wean myself off. Does anyone have any information on this or experienced this themselves?

When will my FUPA go away?
Nicolanz replied to LumpySpacePrincess's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The FUPA will shrink but unlikely to go away completely. I lost a whole 12 inches off that area and it just hangs like a deflated balloon. Do you have stretch marks in that area? If so, forget about it! -
Could vitamins be making me nauseous
Nicolanz replied to shelly75's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
But definitely taking vitamins on an empty stomach will make you nauseous. -
Could vitamins be making me nauseous
Nicolanz replied to shelly75's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I always take my vitamins right when I wake up then start cooking my breakfast, so I probably wait about 15 minutes before eating. I'm 19 months out and don't wait to eat after drinking. I still wait 30 minutes after I eat to drink anything though. -
The left side is correct.

Remove your gallbladder. They don't get better. It's a side effect from losing weight with or without surgery. I had mine removed about 7 months after the sleeve. I tried everything to avoid surgery but nothing worked. The surgery was a breeze for me. I wish I would have had the surgery as soon as I was diagnosed with gallstones and not waited until an emergency situation. Good luck to you!

Day 4 of H2 blocker and today reflux seems to be decreasing. I'm going to keep trying to wean myself off. I'll let y'all know how it goes! Hopefully I will be free of the meds completely.

Interesting article on changes when you lose half your body weight
Nicolanz replied to lsereno's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm 19 months out and still feel not just fat but obese! I'm shocked everytime I can fit in a small area! I hope this goes away! All I've ever wanted was to feel normal and not obsess about my weight. -
my first and last dumping experience!
Nicolanz replied to morgan53's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I think anyone can have a dumping episode regardless of surgery or not. I think.....not sure. Ice cream makes me feel terrible about 10 minutes after eating it. I always thought it was the sugar but I get hot, sweaty, and dizzy. Your story reminded me of my first gallbladder attack, it was after eating a damn chicken leg! Haha! -
You're not helping my anxiety, Swim! Lol! You are very knowledgeable, thanks for the info!

I haven't tried the Torani syrups, but I'm sure that's delicious! Plain Greek yogurt with honey and fresh blueberries and strawberries is the bomb!!!! I add granola too. It depends on what your diet is.

And B12 is separated from protein that we eat by hydrochloric acid made in the stomach. It is circulated through the body by attaching to intrinsic factor, a protein also made in the stomach. So, with a smaller stomach and depressed stomach acid production, it seems inevitable that we will have pernicious anemia without taking a B12 supplement. I read that in people with a partial gastrectomy, it can take two years to notice the effects of b12 deficiency. I'm getting close to two years and have been feeling crappy lately. I'm back on all my vitamins. Hopefully that helps.

Last time I got blood work was last summer and my Vitamins were all normal, but they found H. Pylori. I'm more concerned with the risk of infections due to suppressed stomach acid. I'm going to make an appointment to see if I'm free of H. Pylori and good with my vitamins. I switched to an H2 blocker and it isn't working. It would be my luck that I'd be apart of the 8-10% that needs bypass. I think taking a PPI would outweigh the risks of having that done! The only time I've ever suffered from acid reflux before the sleeve was when I was pregnant. That's it. Now I'm starting to worry about what other long term side effects of the sleeve will be!

Mothers day scheduled at a buffet ... Lol
Nicolanz replied to squeaker31's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Well you'll just be a big ol waste of money won't you? Lol! Hopefully they have soup on the layout. I met my husband at a buffet for lunch yesterday. I just had some chicken and veggies, but I'm 18 months out. -
Do you eat regular or non/lo fat versions of food?
Nicolanz replied to marfar7's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I eat the real version of everything. It makes me full faster and I don't get hungry an hour after eating. I rarely eat fried food but choose real mayo, full fat cheese, etc. "Diet" food has always been detrimental to me because it isn't tasty and led me to binge! -
Oh man, having the gallbladder surgery was a breeze compared to my attacks. I tried to ignore it, hoping it would get better but it got worse! When vicodin stopped working, I went to the ER and got that sucker out! Just schedule it, it's so much easier.

This is your life. You live it the way you choose. The reasons you gave are all beneficial to your quality of life. Congratulations on taking the first steps to a healthier you! My joints used to ache a lot too. I couldn't sleep because my hips hurt so bad. I'm 16 months out now and 110 pounds lighter. I've added yoga to my workouts and for the first time in years I feel amazing! I'm limber, feel light, and most importantly, I don't ache anymore!

Firming lotions for the loose skin?
Nicolanz replied to cdestrada's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It really is amazing lotion BUT I don't think anything will prevent loose skin. Firming lotions tighten minimally but only until you stop using them. If you're going to have loose skin, there's nothing besides surgery that will change that. Unfortunately
