I just threw a napkin at my husband :(

You're tiny! -
Well they just took my blood and I have an ultrasound on Friday. I'm praying that I have minimal stones and can be fixed with medicine. Good news is my doctor was thrilled with my weight loss (haven't seen her in a year) and actually supportive of my decision to go to MX. She even has several patients who have done the same. So now I have adequate follow up and she's checking my Vitamin levels! Whew!

Old Habits Die Hard...

Since my gallbladder attack on Thursday, I'm scared to eat......I've been living off granola bars and salad lol. Getting it checked in 45 minutes! -

Ooo eggs and bacon sound good! -
Eating so much meat is starting to gross me out too. I don't know why lol. I've read about some bad effects from eating entirely raw foods but can't remember what it was. You might want to do research on that and see what you find. Meat substitutes gross me out even more. If you look at the ingredients, the list takes up half the package! It'd be really hard to get adequate protein with the little amount we're able to eat, but I'm sure its doable. There are other vegan sleevers, I wonder how they do it! Good luck, sorry I'm not much help lol.

I thought Mexico was not an option for me, but I started researching and made it happen! It's something to consider. I did save $5000 and was going to use a school loan for the rest but I decided on MX and didn't need the loan. Also a lot of hospitals or surgeons will help you with financing. Just ask around.

Old Habits Die Hard...

I agree it's best to follow the doctor's orders. I just went off about the negativity on VSG in general. Haha! I also understand how hard those first couple of months are. -

I already got shamed for defending straws in a previous post, so I won't go there. Haha! But that is a good example. People go as far as saying you weren't ready for surgery or are stupid for not following you surgeon's advice if you drink from a straw. Well what if your surgeon never told you not to? People assume all rules are the same. -

We're all so different and what works for me may not work for someone else. I think the negativity stems from people acting like they are better or absolutely right whether they follow rules or not. We're all adults and, I hope, able to make decisions for ourselves. I agree the name calling over a simple disagreement is ridiculous. -
I think I started a thread like this too when I was newly sleeved. It's very common and I think it might have something to do with hormones just like when you're pregnant, you have crazy dreams too. The only dream I can remember because it was so scary was that there was a zombie apocalypse! Haha!

Awww girl, don't sweat it. There's plenty of times when I've wanted to straight up punch my husband in the face! I love the man to death, but ya know, men are hard to live with sometimes! Good job on resisting temptation! He'll get over it. -
I'm tall too and my highest was 296 but normally 280. People have asked if I was big enough to do the surgery. They also say they don't see me as an overweight person. I take it as a compliment and am relieved they don't see me the way I see myself!

When I went for Mexican, I ordered shrimp fajitas with charro beans and gave the rice to my husband.

Whether or not you believe, it's always nice to receive positive energy.

Itemizing the surgery when filing taxes
Nicolanz replied to joannao74's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
You can but you have to have proof of medical necessity. That's what I understood anyway. I didn't claim mine but I did type in the numbers and nothing changed. It has to be more than 7.5% of your income I think. -
Weird, it happened after I ate chicken too!
-
That's good to know! I drink up until I eat but wait 30 minutes after. I had my surgery in MX, so I just have been winging it after a few months post op. Where do you get your vitamins?
-
I'm just brainstorming here not calling anyone out, but wouldn't self medicating with food be a form of addiction? I mean, if you didn't have food to self medicate, how would you feel? Would you think about eating until you gave in? Would there be any side effects? A lot of people eat a lot at night because that's usually when you're not busy. I know that's the case for me. I still get up off the couch, stand in the kitchen, stare in the fridge, then realize what I'm doing. Maybe it's just habit but what's the difference between a habit you can't break and an addiction?
-
Welp, in my defense, I was making jokes about a straw causing one to gain 50 pounds. Not people who have real physical side effects. Plus, I was making jokes to defend the OP against posters implying she's a moron for even thinking about drinking from a straw. Only the gool Lord up above can shame me!!!! Can I get an amen?!?......no? .....okay......haha
-
Who was making fun of people who have trouble using a straw. I reread every post and still missed it.

Being sick always triggers me to eat too. I hope you feel better soon!

I'm scared to eat! I called my doc and have an appointment on Monday. Thanks everyone!

Do you still have your gallbladder, Amanda?
