When can we drink soda
Nicolanz replied to amielou26's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Soda is not good for you not even in moderation, in my opinion. It's so addicting, full of sugar, and if it's diet I forget the science behind it but the chemicals cause you to gain weight. The chemicals in diet soda are also addicting. If you can, stay away! To answer your question, I would say never! Good luck ans stay strong! -

No longer invisible, and that's what I wanted, I thought ...
Nicolanz replied to Globetrotter's topic in The Lounge
Oh yea, I forgot to add the safety issue. I'm tall and have always been overweight. I feel like that has been a reason nobody messes with me! I too think about what will happen when I get to goal! Self defense classes sound like a great idea! -

I think at any weight, we're seen as "sex objects" haha! I used to go out a lot before I had kids and drunk men hitting on you is the worst! You do have to become somewhat of a b***h to get your point across. As I'm losing weight, I do notice women acting differently. Like pointing out my flawa rather than being happy for me. I only surround myself with positive people but I do have to deal with jealous coworkers and clients. It's okay though, they don't bring me down. I think when you gain confidence and security in yourself, the social aspects fall into place. It might be new territory to have people notice you and it will take time to get used to, but enjoy it. Love yourself and let that personality shine! If social issues are due to abuse, counseling might be helpful. Enjoy life to the fullest and don't let others dictate how you live it! -

Biggest regrets about getting the sleeve?
Nicolanz replied to NewSetOfCurves's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My only regret is not trying to lose weight or eat healthy pre op. Once I had my date set, I ate so much that I gained around 10 pounds! I recommend taking the pre op very seriously so you'll be that much closer to goal. No need for food funerals. -
One week post op and only lost 5lbs?!? Why?
Nicolanz replied to lovedlov's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
If you're upset about 5 pounds lost in one week, this whole process is going to send you into a horrible depression! Haha! Celebrate! -
I have a cup every morning with Mootopia milk and one packet of Truvia. I sit out on the porch drinking my cofee and enjoying the birds chirp before I start my day!

Yes! I know that feeling and it's a damn good one!

I'm 5'9 too. I currently weigh 223 and started at 296. My surgery was Nov. 3rd. It's very possible you could be under 200 by the end of the year. As for goal, I have no idea. I've never been under 240 at this height. I'm thinking my goal for now is 170. But again, I've never been 170 so we'll see. I honestly don't want to be skinny, just fit and healthy. Good luck with your surgery!

Slightly controversial drink (wine, spirit, beer) poll
Nicolanz replied to Fiddleman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I drink vodka and fruit punch crystal light once a week. My tolerance never changed. I have a beer at a concert with no problems. I used to drink rum or whiskey with coke but too scared to try a soda now. -
I usually eat leftovers from dinner the night before. If not, a sandwich, yea I said it, A SANDWICH! haha wraps, I buy big containers of spring mix lettuce and make salads usually with olives, red bell pepper, tomatoes and top it with tuna, chicken, or lunch meat with balsalmic vinaigrette. The chicken salad with cranberry sauce sounds delish! I'm going to try that!
