12 week Transformation challenge for vets
Nicolanz replied to Fiddleman's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Yea, I'd be way too scared to eat that many calories! Plus, it'd be near impossible! I got my DVDs today!!! I was so excited and did Exhale's 30 Day Sculpt. It is 30 different yoga workouts that are 20 minutes long. I expected it to be calm and easy! Wrong! I was sweating like crazy! But I got through the whole thing! After I put the kids to bed I'm going to do Jillian's No Trouble Zones. Will report back! Hope I'm not annoying y'all with my updates, I'm just too excited! Happy transforming! -
I miss my vodka!

I don't see what the big deal is. I tried wine at 4 weeks out. It didn't sit well so I stopped. Just take it slow and see how it goes. Be careful because you do get buzzed faster and make sure you've had plenty of water! Not everyone who enjoys an occasional drink is a raging alcoholic. -
Clothing right after surgery.

I wore yoga pants and maternity jeans (I just had a baby). -

Great job, Fiddleman!!! How much weight have you lost total? You have no loose skin? This morning I am down 4 pounds! I can't believe I have 17 more pounds to be under 200! I bought some new clothes for work yesterday because everything I have is to big! -

Ok well, I did have to stop but didn't miss a single workout. I stopped for about 20 seconds total. I did more than I've ever done and for that, I'm thrilled! Those damn running mans got me! -

Just got an email that my DVDs won't be in until tomorrow I was so excited! I guess I'll do Ripped in 30 and my goal is to NOT STOP! Not even for one second! -
It'll be different this time because you won't be able to eat the calories back and you will get results! What I am going to do differently is not give myself more than one day of rest a week. I don't want to lose motivation either and when something gets too easy or repetitive, I'll challenge myself and switch it up. Don't expect to fail. Failure isn't an option anymore!

I have one on my foot, ankle, and upper back. So far none have changed with 76 pounds lost. I think it depends on where you get it.

This roller coaster of "Yes you're approved" and "no you're not" is too much... I need to throw up and i'm still not sleeved.

I agree. If I were you I'd be calling other clinics today! If insurance will pay for it, that'd be nice! Good luck, Flutterby. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you! -
stalled and overly emotional. aka - it's been a rough week
Nicolanz replied to makemyownluck's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First of all, once you realize you're not going to lose weight every day, week, or even month, this process will be a lot easier for you! The first month or so your hormones are crazy! I know I went from crying to screaming in a matter of minutes! This surgery works. Keep following the plan! I stalled several times. A month being the longest so far but I'm down 76 in 6 months. The stalls piss me off to the point I don't even step on that stupid scale anymore! I measure myself once every two weeks or so and my clothes are so loose now. Don't give up and good luck! -

My coworker's husband is a bariatric surgeon and she said BCBS is notorious for not paying. I have BCBS and knew I couldn't handle the heartbreak so I went to MX. I'm so sorry you're going through this! Can you go to another clinic? I'm not sure how all that works. -
I'm back to my old eating habits ;-(

Also, way to go on walking 2 miles! That's probably why you feel more hungry than before. I'm a night eater so when my kids go to bed I do work out DVDs instead of eating. Maybe you could buy a yoga one to add to your daily walk. -

I'm 6 months out and know how easy it is to go back to old ways. What's helped is eating 5-6 times a day. Roughly every 3 hours. Buy healthy snacks- nuts, avacado, string cheese, yogurt, hummus with raw zucchini slices, etc. For sweets, fiber one has chocolate protein bars now and they are delicious! Also I have snack packs if I need them. Good luck it's never too late! -

I had to take the day off from exercise. I hurt my hip and if I move my thigh up it hurts. Any suggestions on fast healing? I hope it's better by tomorrow. I should be getting my yoga dvd in the mail tomorrow, so hopefully I can at least do that! -
Well I just saw my sleeve in an xray and it looks like my esophagus just goes all the way down to my intestines lol! Just a straight tube. The thumb is roughly the size of one ounce of cheese or meat so I think that's inaccurate. I was told my sleeve can hold 4-6 oz.

Back at Work & I had an increase in my appetite

Ohh just read the last part of your post. If you can eat yogurt, cream soups, or cottage cheese it might be more filling. -

I'm 6 months out and still feel hungry. I'm not sure how far out you are but once you're healed and past the scared to eat phase, real hunger is normal. The world according to eggface website has some great ideas for packed lunches. I only work part time, so I usually bring left overs from dinner the night before. Just bring extra snacks like string cheese, almonds, granola bars, yogurt, edamame, etc. Eating every 3 hours is good for your metabolism. -
Are there any hairstylist out there who've had the procedure?
Nicolanz replied to thedivinemsQ's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have a big ol water jug at my station and drink from while doing my client's hair. They don't mind and it's actually my trademark LOL! Even before surgery, I'm always drinking water. They make fun of my green jug and if it's not there, they ask where it is! -
I think it's just something you have to expect. Drink lots of water, exercise, and eat healthy fats. Maybe even take fish oil supplements. How old are you and how much weight do you have to lose?
-
3.5 months out I went from a TIGHT 22 to 18. I think you did good on your estimate. It may even be too big!

Ntv, same here! My husband thinks I'm weird for always finding the positive in any situation. He says it isn't normal! Haha! He's a major grinch though. We keep eachother balanced! I love that grumpy old man!
