I've lost 100 pounds and the flap is definitely there. It's a flat flap now

Butter, did you start school this semester? How's it going?

Are you getting a new driver's license or work ID since losing weight or once you reach goal?
Nicolanz replied to buplee's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Maybe next time I visit my folks in round rock tx I'll update it haha! -
I drink 1-2 cups daily! I'm almost a year out and never had a problem. I add muscle milk for flavor and a little protein. I'm like you.....can't live without it!

I live in a city with about 6 million people .......I will be avoiding the DMV for as long as I can! I do need to update my cosmetology license pic though! -
Ok so I'm sorta cheating, but today I weigh 196!!! Hit my goal a day late

I asked my 5 year old if he remembers when I was fat and he said, "you're still fat, mommy." Haha! You're doing great! Keep it up!

My mother was a food **** too. That's a big part of my obesity. That kind of support is more destructive than helpful. Just let him know how proud of him you are for his journey, but your journey is yours and yours alone. You don't need someone making snide remarks about your eating. It only causes shame and guilt.

Anyone else considering sleeve with BMI ~32
Nicolanz replied to highhopes's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
5'9 at 250 puts you at a bmi of 37. My resting bmr is around 1700 calories. I work out, have a job on my feet, and am generally very busy. If I eat 1700 calories, I don't lose. I try to stay around 1300. It's very easy to eat that much at almost a year out. Very few people struggle with losing too much but it's possible. -
How do you handle attention from the opposite sex now that you've been sleeved and are SUPER HOT?
Nicolanz replied to buplee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm flattered. I smile, thank them for the compliment, and tell them I'm happily married!! I don't care if those who find me attractive now would find me attractive before at almost 300 pounds. Truth is, probably not. I didn't find myself too attractive then either! I think I'm more approachable now because I have confidence, am outgoing, and extremely happy!!! I don't get insulted or over analyze their intentions, unless they are rude of course! -

Feeling awful every time I eat
Nicolanz replied to ElaineB's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel like this when I eat too fast, too much, or something difficult to digest. Soup with chunks hurts because of the liquid with solid food. Hopefully that's what's causing you discomfort. -
The scale read 198.4 today!!! FINALLY under 200 pounds!!! This was one of my major goals so even if I don't make it to 196 by Monday, I'm ecstatic!!!

Need some tips for gallstones!
Nicolanz replied to Kellyj574's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You could wait but it's only a matter of time before stones develop. That first attack I had was the worst pain I've ever been in and it lasted 2.5 hours! I had four more attacks before I had to get it removed .....I'm stubborn and had Vicodin lol. It wasn't until the attack was so bad Vicodin didn't work that I went to the ER. -
3 of mine opened pretty wide and deep 10 days post op. I kept them clean, dry, no band aids, and kept a close watch for infection. They healed on their own in about 4 weeks. Don't close it with steri strips because it could trap bacteria in there.

Ohhh! Like, you don't feel full anymore but not hungry either? I think I get it now. When I get to the point that I'm feeling weak, I still get hunger pangs. I guess some or a lot don't. That's where I was confused.

A completely unnecessary bit of whining
Nicolanz replied to gamergirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Man, that sounds delicious! -
I guess I don't know what hunger is either. If my stomach feels empty and I'm weak, I say I'm hungry! Maybe if someone could explain how hunger felt to them pre op,I'd have a better understanding. Soes it mean your stomach doesn't growl anymore? Mine still does and I take a PPI everyday.

Love the new do and congratulations on the weight loss!!! -
I'll be there next semester hopefully!! I couldn't start the nursing program this semester so I'm going to apply again next semester. Right now I'm at cyfair.

Woohoo! How exciting that your going back to school!! I went back after 10 years and like you, I was nervous ......terrified actually! I absolutely love it though. As a matter of fact, I don't want it to end! I've always been obsessive but I find that with me getting healthy, I have more excitement for life and less fear. You'll do great!

If sugar isn't listed in the ingredients, then it's natural sugar from the fruits. I tried it once and thought it was horrendous! Lol.

I tried everything! Nothing worked and I had to get it removed. -
Saturday morning I awoke to the news that my grandfather had a brain hemorrhage and isn't strong enough for surgery. He was sent home with hospice to be kept comfortable until his passing. He passed last night at 7 pm. This man was invincible. He suvived his ship being bombed in WWII, a heart attack, and a few strokes. He's always bounced back. He's survived by 6 children, 14 grandchildren, and 9 great grand children. It's hard to believe the leader of the pack is gone. A huge loss for my family. I've been struggling greatly with emotional eating. Like almost 2000 calories both Saturday and Sunday. I never realized I had emotional eating problems until now. I need help, advice, comfort ....anything. I have so much to do to prepare for the funeral. All I want to do is lay here.
