Thanksgiving....what Are You Thankful For? And What Will You Eat?
Bornagain replied to takroom's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am thankful for all of my family. I love them so much. I am thankful that I had this surgery done on Oct. 2, I also am so very thankful that my daughter was approved to get sleeved due to medical reasons. Now we can be happy and healthy together. -
I saw my surgeon and asked him about salads and veggies. I told him how much I miss them. So he tells that I should eat my protein first then I could try some salad or steamed veggies. He also said,"You won't be able to eat much because you should've eaten your protein." Well he was right but let me tell you that little bit of salad was so DELICIOUS. on my next meal I made my husband a side of steam veggies and I was in heaven. Advice is chew both very well and you can only eat a tiny amount but it is worth it.

Wow you look amazing. Can you tell us what kind of exercising you did? -
Wow P77tmey thanks for your post! That is an excellent reminder for us to drink those sips of water. Thank God you got through that.

I miss my salad so much and I am in my 5th week out. Can someone tell me why they do not want us to eat salads. Is it because of the lack of protein in it or for some other reason?
-
Praying your surgery went well Nikimac. I'm sure it did and you will be just fine. Next few weeks lots of sips and lots of walking. Congrats.
-
Glad to hear that you are having NO complications. Pray for your continued blessings.

12 Hours To Go Till I Begin My Journey To Memphis , Tn For My Sleeve

Sending prayers to heaven just for you. -
You are very welcome. The walking you are doing will help you to get the gas out. I was pressing on my belly in the hospital and my surgeon told me not to apply any pressure to my stomach yet. The gas will roll around especially when you walk a lot. A warning when it starts rolling in your abdomen it can be painful. I just went with it and moaned through it. Now it's funny but the moan helped tolerate it. I only spit up recently and I am 5 weeks out. That was cause I over ate.

A small sip was hard for me as I am a water gulper normally. lol. Anyway it is a must, I kinda purse my lips and slowly inhalea small amount of liquid now. I remember my surgeon saying that we must remember our stomach is going to be smaller than what our mouth can hold in water so we must be careful not to take in too much or up it will come because our stomachs can not hold it all at once. So I sip a little every ten minutes. It takes a lot to remember to keep an eye on the clock. On the gas I would get a pain that travelled all around my belly. It took me two days to fart but once it starts it is a great relief. Sounds like your doing good. Take care

Sorry you had to go through so much with the open surgery. You sound like a determined strong willed woman so I feel you will continue to do well. When we focus and are patient it makes it much easier. Good wishes

Central Valley, Ca Pre-Ops?
Bornagain replied to Yasmine's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey Jasmine I am from the Central Valley and I was sleeved on October 2, 2012 at Fresno Kaiser Permanente. My journey began on August 10 and so far I have not had any major problems. I will say that the staff at Kaiser was the kindest and most professional I have ever encountered. Good Surgeon also. He has taken good care of me and answers any questions I might have. He is quick to respond to e-mails also. Praying for you that you have an easy time of it. -
Hungry And Eating A Lot
Bornagain replied to juanfa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am curious as to how much you all are eating. According to my orders I add different food every week to the list of foods I am allowed now but I am only allowed to eat 1/4 cup of food per meal and this changes to 1/2 cup of food per meal in January. I was sleeved on October 2nd and I know sometimes 1/4 fills me up but then again sometimes I eat more cause I am still hungry. Does anyone else have to stay on 1/4 c. per meal for so long? -
Congratulations Liz, I will pray for an easy recovery. Give it to God and follow all directions from the Dr. and may your journey be smooth.

Prayed About It...well...
Bornagain replied to Patienlywtng on my Curves's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi and God bless you all. I am 17 days post-op and have lost 19 lbs. Total lost since I put my faith in God to give me strength for this journey back in August is 30 lbs. I had wanted to do this a couple of years ago because of diabetes uncontrolled mostly. My pancreas was not working well with my meds and I needed this surgery. But as a weak human I chickened out. As I sought the Lord to lead me in my decision it became clear I had to do this. I read so many posts of sleevers with complication and it breaks my heart for them. Although I must say THANK YOU JESUS because I have been doing well. I pray daily and ask that He keeps helping me even as I know He is always with me. No more diabetes pills and no more insulin injections. I am so grateful. -
Crying...why Am I Having More Issues?
Bornagain replied to Sleevedreamz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just would like to say to you that I am so glad you went to the ER and I pray they get to the place soon where they can do something positive about all the pain you are having. When you get home please don't overdue physical things. My surgeon called to check on me yesterday and he reminded me no pushing pulling or LIFTING over ten lbs. I feel good and don't want to jepordize my healing. I will keep praying for your speedy recovery. -

Day 14 Post Op Hospitalized For Leak!
Bornagain replied to k9qt's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Praying for a quick recovery for you. I am two weeks out today, does anyone think it's because we can finally eat a little more? This morning I ate a scrambled egg and it was not enjoyable. I felt like I was going to puke it up but I didn't. I'm kinda scared to eat. In the hospital I got the hic-cups and the RN told me if I got a mild case it was just gas BUT if I couldn't stop the hic-cups for a length of time I probably had a leak. I don't think I had a leak test. How do they do this? -
No Nsaids ever my dr. said. When I had headaches after surgery I was told to take Liquid childrens Tylenol and it worked on my headaches and when the pain was mild in the belly.
