Mishaps in the past 6 months
anewmeahead commented on LifetimeLoser's blog entry in LifetimeLoser's Blog
Thanks so much for the post. I am kind of going through a six month renewal. I have to admit that I wasn't exercising or eating right (not too much - just wrong things, not enough protein, etc.) I was throwing up a lot. I read a few books to get me back on track. I realized I was just floating through the excitement of the weight loss and not really taking advantage of the tool. I'm trying to get myself back on track with eating and exercise. I have to find an exercise that I like but that is a work in progress - kind of like the rest of this journey! -
Any Feb 19 sleevers in Nassau County New York
anewmeahead replied to yourbanker's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Hi - Good Luck tomorrow! I'm sure you will do GREAT! I have nothing but positive things to say about Dr. Gadaletta and the practice so I'm sure Dr. Gellman is great as well. I"m about 3 weeks out and doing pretty good. I've lost almost 30 pounds and really have had no other complications (except gas pain the beginning.) I am getting sick of just liquids - but it is all part of process. Let me know how everything goes! -

Sleeved on 01/29/13. Any other sleevers this week? I'm in some pain. got some questions
anewmeahead replied to rxkid2384's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey everyone! I was sleeved on Wednesday 1/30 and came home yesterday afternoon. So far (knock on wood) things have been pretty good. I have gas pains which can be bad at times but I find that walking for a little, taking 2 Gas X strips and then sitting with a heating pad help. I'm trying to focus right now on getting in all my protein and water. I too am "eating" some broth and protein every 3 hours. I'm then waiting an hour after each meal and then continue sipping water - trying to get about 40 oz a day for now. I need to get more water in but I think this whole thing is a work in progress. There is so much to focus on when you first come home that it can be a bit overwhelming. One day at a time for all of us. Good luck everyone! -

Thanks so much! I think right now I am more excited than nervous but I'm sure that will change once I get to the hospital!

Hi - I haven't had my surgery yet but I've read a lot on here that hair loss sometimes occurs around 3 months out. Everyone said that it lasts for a few months but DEFINITELY grows back. It is probably a result of the low vitamins. I've also read that people have been taken biotin to prevent / assist with the hair loss. Don't worry - I think it is part of the process and will grow back! (Easier said than done I know - I'm very concerned about hair loss as well!)

Hey everyone - glad some other people are awake - my surgery is today in a few hours and I can't sleep. I'm so nervous / excited!

How long (in general) is the surgery
anewmeahead posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Everyone - I'm sure that this was covered somewhere but I can't find it. Can someone tell me approximately how long the surgery lasts? I know it is probably different for everyone but a general idea would be good. My surgery is 1/30 - I am so excited and starting to get a little bit nervous! Thanks in advance! -

I'm scheduled for January 30th as well. We will be fine! Nerves are natural and part of the process. Don't worry! -

Got Approved today but now I am nervous!
anewmeahead replied to trujiyi's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats on your approval! I received mine a few weeks ago. I'm scheduled for surgery January 30th and Wednesday when I started the pre-op diet it hit me as well. I've thought about this surgery a million times and am confident in my decision but as it gets closer (after such a long process!) I think it is natural to be nervous and be doubting yourself. Just rely on whatever motivated you through all the pre-op appointments! -
Good luck! I started mine on Wednesday. I find that as long as I drink all the water I'm not starving. The proteins shakes are pretty filling as well. I'm using Atkins and Unjury. How did you do for Day 1?
