Hi- New To This Site- Really Depressed
MiniMo replied to hopeful77's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I had surgery on October 1st...I am not going to lie, It has been rough! I try to get all my protein, vitamins, and water in too, like u said, its soooo hard and it takes so much time to accomplish one task. I keep thinking to myself, " how in the heck am I going to be able to do this when I go back to work?" Its a job in itself. I want to each a whole meal so bad!! I can only get 2 to 3 bites of real food in and I am pretty much done. I get annoyed and just throw the rest of my plate in the trash. Clean plate sysndrome . Today, I realized that this is how my stomach works right now. Its permament! It is up to me to adjust. I hold myself accountable and try not repeat the mistakes I have made. My main problem is wanting everything to be perfect, but I have to remind myself that it doesnt have to be perfect ...I dont get all my protein in, ok, tommorrow is a new day, I will start again and again, getting better and better with each day. Its a process. In the past I never planned my meals or religiously took vitamins like this. We are learning our bodies all over again. As for weight loss, since surgery I have only loss 18lbs. My mother calls me everyday and ask me, "how much have you loss?" Its annoying...but, like alot of people have said STAY OFF THE scale. It will drive u crazy. Please join in the conversations and get all the information you need from this forum and several other oppurtunites out there. There are weightloss support groups, counseling services, and I personally love youtube, made a few vlogs myself to just tell my story. Make your experience your own! -

OMG, I was just thinking about this...I have so much leftover food! So much food and money wasted! I made some turkey hash on tuesday and was going to eat a bite yesterday, but I took one bite and threw it away. I guess I have to learn how to make smaller portions than I am already doing. If I open a container and it just doesnt smell right, straight into the trash it goes.

I plan on hosting Thanksgiving dinner at my home this year also...Only my mother, brother, and sister will be having the main dinner with me, but I am sure there will be some visitors. I have already told my family that we will be having a healthy thanksgiving dinner in small portions. They are on board for what I have planned and are being very supportive also. With all the time I have had off since surgery, the menu is already planned out. Things like a turkey breast instead of a whole turkey and mac n cheese with whole wheat pasta and kale. The only objection was that my siblings said it wouldnt be thanksgiving without Mom's sweet potato pie. Thats fine, but she will be using my whole wheat pie crust! As for other desserts, Jello mold and zuccini muffins.

Thanks for the info! I ordered a couple sample packs (had to get the birthday cake) for $3.99 each and they offer FREE shipping, which is nice. I have been trying to find new Protein drinks and powders to try. I like the Isopure powders, but no ready to invest in pounds of it just yet. Ive been getting alot of sample packs. I just got my nectar sample and matrix sample today. I started on the Protein powder brand from walmart (cant remember the name) that was $14 to $20, its was way to foamy and SO GLAD its all gone now... Thanks again!

How Did You Guys Tell Your Parents And Family?
MiniMo replied to Jimbo_D's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
If its something you want to tell everyone about because you are proud of yourself for going through this journey, then tell everyone. There are those who are going to support your decision and those who will scowl you for it. Remember, this is your life and what YOU want. If you want to keep the matter private, then that is also, your decision. When you get all slim and trim, and people ask how you lost all your weight, tell through hard work, pain, and dedication. This journey is a hard one and there will be plenty of times where you need support and times where you dont need the critism or everyone judging you for YOUR DECISION. Personally, I didnt want to tell everyone, because it has been a long process for me and I want to keep all aspects of my journey positive. I am not lying to people who ask, just not telling them the whole truth. No harm in that. I kinda want the shock effect too when I come out of my cave ( I have been a hermit since surgey 10/1). I told my mother, brother, and sister, in case there were decisions that needed to be made in case of complications...a few close friends and a select few coworkers that I felt comfortable with and trusted. You have to pick and choose who should know and who to keep out of the loop. Your family will worry no matter what you do. You have to educate them and tell them how much you want/need this. They will understand -
I am so glad to hear that after everything, people are stil wanting to give blood. I work for the Red Cross and I dontate regularly also. I was wondering this myself, I believe to be elgible to donate, you have to be completely healed and no problems or complications for at least 6 months. Your hemoglobin also must be at least 12.5 to donate.

Question For The Post Ops...
MiniMo replied to Yasmine's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost 23lbs on my pre-op diet...As the days winded down towards my surgery, I ate less and less and stressed. I was only drinking my protein shakes and water. I have a physical job and I worked about 20 hours overtime and I did alot of walking and thinking during that time, so I was pretty active. I had some broth the night before, just because my mother made me eat -
Pre-Hospital Items Needed?
MiniMo replied to ChrissyP's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My hospital stay was three day and truthfully, most of everything I packed, I didnt even use. I slept mostly and when I was up I used the restroom, walked, and watched TV. Items that I did use that I brought, were phone charger, chapstick, hand lotion, toothbrush, toothpaste, and a scarf/hair tie. The hopital provided me with toiletry items like soap, vasaline, and body powder. I didnt read my book or do my puzzles, I didnt feel like putting anything extra on except the hospital gown and the no slip socks, and I wore the same clothes that I wore to the hospital from the hospital. Had them on a total of two hours. The best thing that I brought with me was my FAMILY! My mother and sister stayed with me all three days. They even brought cots for them to sleep on. I am trully blessed for that... -

Slim Fast Protein Drink
MiniMo replied to Jenny881's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At my local walmart, they had the chocolate low carb slimfast shakes for $3, I bought all they had during my pre op diet. When I went back to get more, they were back to reg price. They are the best ones that I have tasted so far. I believe the low carb has 20g protien in each shake. -
When I went in for my pre op class, my nutritionist said to include all clear liquids towards your liquid intake. I counted water of course, but then also clear protien drinks like isopure, vitamin water, powerade zero, propel, sobe lifewater, crystal light, and even broth. I plan on trying out TrueLemon, I heard is like a water with lemon, just like at the restaurant I was overjoyed, because I knew I would get tired of plain water...So I went shopping...

Do You Still Look Forward To Food Or Enjoy It?
MiniMo replied to Bryan Whitson's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Its like reuniting with a long lost love... I have faith that things will change and I look foward to the future. I know I will desire food again, just smelling some of my favorite foods makes my mouth Water. Once I am able to eat normaly again, I am sure there will be triggers for me one day, but I have to remember that the food Iate and how much Iate got me to this weight, why would I want to do that to myself again? I want to eat healthy and enjoy my food without feeling guilt after. I am excited to try ways of cooking and eating, plus new foods that are healthier for me. I was never a slave to fast food or even processed food. Just a lot of down home cooking with lots of carbs, butter, and fat. First, I am scared to hurt my pouch and have complications and secondly, I am tired of the liquid diet. This I think is why I have not desired much food. It all takes time... -
Do You Still Look Forward To Food Or Enjoy It?
MiniMo replied to Bryan Whitson's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 19 days post op and I hate to say it, but no, I am not enjoying food right now. I know it will get better, but for now its a pain. Next week, I start soft foods. Truthfully, I am kinda scared to eat. I am all soup-ed out, my fridge and pantry is full of soup that I have made from scratch and Ive had one or two bites and I am over it. I am just tired of soup, as well as jello. I still enjoy yogurt, V8, and pops, but I sincerely dont have a desire to eat anything... Today, I had two protien shakes and a half of a cup of tomato soup, plus my water, that was it. -
With support of my family, we have decided to cook a small Healthy Thanksgiving dinner. It will be something new to us, but my mother doesnt want me to feel left out. I will be past soft foods, so maybe I can enjoy some traditional foods also. My mother is my biggest supporter, love her!
