Lack of water can cause this. I notice dry lips during winter months. Have you been using chapstick?

Anyone Eating & Drinking At The Same Time?
Tamara Carter replied to NJSleeveboy's topic in Food and Nutrition
Just FYI I am a Nursing Student and have just learned about dumping syndrome. All of what you just said is referred to is dumping syndrome. Technically there are two types of dumping syndrome. The first is what you just described, where the food you eat leaves your stomach way to fast, and can cause problems in the intestinal track, and lead to diarrhea. The second type can happen 2-3 hours after you eat and it is when your sugar levels spike which can be due to the rapid emptying of the stomach and to what you ate. -
Anyone Eating & Drinking At The Same Time?
Tamara Carter replied to NJSleeveboy's topic in Food and Nutrition
The drinking while eating isn't necessarily to keep you fuller longer. It is to prevent dumping syndrome, and to keep you from stretching your stomach out. I would be careful about constantly drinking while eating. Yes if a bite of food is really dry a sip is good, but not a complete drink. -
10 1/2 Weeks Out
Tamara Carter replied to KayKay20's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are doing great!! This is more than just a physical journey. It is definitely an emotional journey as well. I am sure your husband and kids understand and have no hard feelings toward you for your snapping when you were not feeling well. I am glad you are starting to feel like your old self again. I have a feeling you will be in Onederland by the end of next weeks. -

Just The Begining.......

Congratulations on taking your life back. You will have many ups and downs and we will be here to help you through your journey. -
I would have to agree with hawkihoops. It is probably the gas they used to blow up your belly to see that is irritating your diaphragm which causes hiccups.

This Might Seem Like A Stupid Question, But...
Tamara Carter replied to thehappycat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As long as your calorie counter doesnt go red you are losing weight. Your body actually burns off more than the 561 calories you "burned" during exercise cause your metabolism stays high longer. so if you dont eat more than the 561 calories you will still burn fat and lose weight. -
Ok guys!! I am going to be meeting my doctor in the next month or so. What questions did you ask your doctor prior to surgery? Or what questions do you wish you would have asked prior to surgery? I dont know what tests are required by my doctor yet so that is one question that I will be asking. Thank you all for the help.

This Might Seem Like A Stupid Question, But...
Tamara Carter replied to thehappycat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok with MFP you do not have to eat the calories you burn off doing activity. They add it to your number of calories allowed for the day just to show you that with that exercise you can eat that many more calories. So no you do not have to eat the 400 calories. And if you dont eat those 400 calories then you will probably lose slightly more weight. -
What Am I Thinking?!
Tamara Carter replied to Look@meitsEmily's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I so could not have worded anything better. It is natural to feel scared, nervous, and to have anxiety before any type of procedure. Take a few deep breaths remember why you started this journey in the first place, and tell yourself that no matter what you are going to be just fine. -

Fearful Of Upcoming Pcp Appt
Tamara Carter replied to Boofster's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am kind of lucky as the NP that I see is awesome I am luck cause I go through the VA so I really don't get the option of changing doctors when they wont do something for me. But I do feel that everyone here is right. If she is not willing to support you on your decision to make your life better, and either prevent future health issues, or correct current health issues you may have then you definitely need to find a doctor that will. -
December month is filling up Quick!!!!! So december sleevers what are your goal weights for surgery? I hope by the time surgery comes around I will be down to 200-215.

Got Dehydrated Tonight
Tamara Carter replied to alsublett's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Pedialite is the best for re-hydrating yourself. If you are going to drink G2 add a teaspoon of salt to it to help you hold on to the water. -
Had My Surgery On The 24 Of September 2012
Tamara Carter replied to sambrooklyn's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Yes you will go into a "stall" when your body slows down to catch back up with your weight-loss Just keep doing what you are suppose to be doing and you will start to lose again. -

I am sorry you are in so much pain. Unfortunately the pain killers wont even work on the pain as it is caused by the gas floating around. That is one thing I am not really looking forward to. Although me being a Nursing student does help so I know what is happening and why things hurt so bad.I hope you feel better soon.
-
It wont help. Gas x only works on gas in the GI tract. The "gas" pain that you get is from where they blow up your abdomen with air to see while doing the surgery. Only movement and time will get rid of that gas as it is in the abdominal cavity.

Have any of you switched to using Baby Silverware to help make the portions not seem so small? I am just wondering.

I am going through the VA cause I am a vet. It is not that difficult.

Anyone With Nausea And Cold Sweats After Having Food ?
Tamara Carter commented on anayortiz's blog entry in anayortiz's Blog
How long after you eat did you have them? Could be dumping syndrome. Slow down your eating, make sure you are waiting a full minute to two minutes between bites.
