    Leak?

I get this way anytime I have stomach pain now. Pain from vomiting from a bug, soreness from working out, anything that makes me think of my stomach leads me to being too scared to eat. But I know I have to or I'll end up in the hospital anyway. I stick to liquids. Water/Gatorade/soups w/unflavored Protein powder. I know how scary it is. Have they offered you post leak counselling? My surgeon recommended I see a therapist. I haven't because I've been in and out of therapy for years and sometimes I feel like I've heard it all. But the couple times I talked to somebody when I was in the hospital helped.

    Super Saturday Weigh In

Start 274 This morning 212. Slow, but I'll take it! NSV: noticed an overweight woman a tad bigger than me Pre-Op at a "how-to festival" today. She was standing in front of me during the sushi demo (yum!) and I noticed her shifting her weight from her left to right foot about every 2 minutes....took me about 5 minutes to realize: I don't have to do that anymore at least as often lol. Or so early on in a day. I don't miss that!!

    Leak?

So happy to hear you're better Sannah! Yay!!!!
  4. I also just got a horrible mental image of sliming with snuff in the mouth. Blech! For obvious health reasons I'd say no, my surgeon doesn't even allow e-cigs. It's all about that nicotine but always ask your doctor!
  5. Haha I'd say anything with nicotine is a no go.
  6. Apparently psychology and the statistics that go with it aren't your bag. The increase in hormones, withdrawal from carbs, etc can effect the "sane" after surgery when they were never aware or affected before. And you DO NOT know all the psychological changes and implication that happen after surgery, known of us do. We're all different, what you went through is 100% different than the experiences of other. Which is why research should be done before surgery to read up on anything and everything sleeve. I stand by what I said. Money and insurance coverage is the last thing that should be considered. Smoking addiction, any habits, lifestyle change should be considered before the finance. The question was about smoking. I answered as I saw fit, appropriate, and beneficial.
  7. I take one with Breakfast and one before bed so far so good

    Need a drink!

I feel your pain. Any time we would go out to eat I'd have my glass filled at least 3 times. I used to drink 8-10 bottles of Water daily and down 16oz in 2-3 gulps. I thought I'd never be able to follow that rule. But at some point I noticed I just stopped wanting to drink with meals. And over time you'll be able to drink and not "sip." Never gulp again, but I can finish 16oz in about 5-6 drinks in half an hour. The hardest part is staying hydrated during and after a workout. Make sure you sip during and are PLENTY hydrated before. And I usually like to drink 1/2 to a whole small bottle of G2 after I exercise.
  9. I have Bariatric advantage and they don't taste *awful* but when you bite them it feels like a poof of powder in your mouth. I stopped taking them because that's what I took right after surgery and vomited a lot before my leak was diagnosed so the taste now makes me gag. I take flintstones complete (they have iron so that knocks out an addition pill, too.). They'll work temporarily but eventually I'll have to switch to something more geared for adults. But my surgeon's nurse had RNY and took flintstones for 7 years before she showed any signs of deficiency.
  10. You smoked about like me then haha. I also wasn't much or a soda fan pre op, juice, water, tea and I was a happy girl! Well and the occasional beer...sigh...I miss beer...ANYWAY! I think you should be just fine. Just be honest with your surgeon. With blood tests like this it's not always just a "positive or negative" result. If the doctor asks for a more specific report he can get see exactly how high certain levels are. But I'd feel safe in betting you'll be ok. Just don't start after! That's been harder for me than quitting initially. Not that I'm smoking again...but I definitely found some interesting methods of calming myself now

    Need a drink!

Sorry, love, that's a forever thing. No drinking during meals or 30 minutes before and after. I do admit, I will take a sip or two if I'm eating something dry or spicy. We're not allowed to drink because it allows food to slide through our tummies too fast allowing us to eat more than the recommended amount.

    Best peanut butter?

I can grind my own nuts with th coffee grinding blade on my magic bullet. I have to add Water so it truely creamy, but there's still th occasional crunchy bit

    Best peanut butter?

Aaaaand I just saw you don't want PB2. Sorry! I'd recommend an organic/all natural option. I used to use a reduced fat creamy generic brand and it didn't alter my dietary intake very much

    Best peanut butter?

I admit I didn't red anything but the answer is PB2! It's half the fat/cals of reduced fat Peanut Butter. You can use the powder in shakes, or mix it with Water and make a creamy peanut butter
  16. There are tons of theories on this subject all around this site. First, don't stress, we all stall. First step, avoid the scale for awhile. Second, a lot of people will increase their calorie intake for a few days then return to the previous diet. Your body has set weight points where its comfortable at, once it hits a number and doesn't move your body gets stubborn and wants to stay there. What I do, personally, is switch to 2 shakes, 2 small healthy Snacks, and a very light meal once a day. I do this for a week. And if my fibro allows me, I'll do a little more cardio that week. Not much, maybe 5-10 more minutes to up my metabolism. And avoid that demon scale! I find the best results when I avoid the scale for a week or two then weigh and go for there. Just try and avoid upping your carbs, then you get cravings and have to go through the lovely carb withdrawal again Don't fret, you're not alone. It'll work itself out just be patient.
  17. I'm sorry this isn't topic specific but made chuckle. In my post of instructions it said the same thing for the full liquid stage of. Y diet and the next line was "DO NOT USE STRAWS!!!!" it made me laugh. And also, if I sucked really hard I could easily get some mashed potatoes or something through a straw lol.
