Pre-Hospital Items Needed?
lizv123 replied to ChrissyP's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Both good ideas! There are several lists and posts on what you should take to the hospital. I've asked a few times and this is what everyone has pretty much agreed on and what I'm taking: House shoes Pjs (may or may not use) Clean underwear/ zip front sports bra (if you aren't comfortable walking around while free-boobing) Robe (if you have one) Chapstick Deodorant Toothbrush and toothpaste (I'll probably get a couple of those disposable things "on the go" toothbrushes that come in a foil pack of two) Clear Protein drinks (Isopure, etc) Phone and charger My iPod (hospital sounds really tap into my anxiety) My own pillow ( not so much for sleeping but holding against my stomach on the drive home) iPad or a book (just in case I'm there longer than expected) Travel pack of baby wipes and/or face wipes (I can't stand dried drool!) And since my fiancé is coming and staying with me I'm making sure he has a few Snacks so he doesn't have to spend money in the cafeteria all the time, and he's taking a camera and measuring tape so I can take pics and measurements that morning of surgery. I also told him to tape me if I did anything silly in recovery If you can think of anything else let me know! I'm trying not to over pack as I always do but the motto in my family has always been "Better to have and not need, than need and my have." -
Wedding Rings Too Big Already!?!?
lizv123 replied to Carly4HandinSD's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used embroidery string on my bf's class ring in high school. Not the most attractive thing, but my ring didn't fall off. Also I'm not getting my engagement resized until I'm stable but I plan on purchasing a nice chain to wear it around my neck just so it's still on me all the time and a fairly long chain so I can tuck it in my shirt and keep it close to my heart (sorry for the cliche ) -

My surgeon said around an hour. He does it laparoscopically and with the DaVinci robot. -

What Can I Look Forward Too? :)
lizv123 replied to Fair2bslimLady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Can anybody do the task of explaining sliming to me? I have an idea but I'd like to know what to expect so I don't panic post op -
I used to get charley horses almost every night when I was dancing competitively. This sounds crazy but it worked. (I couldn't have bananas either as I'm allergic to latex.) I put a bar of soap under my bottom sheet at the foot of my bed. For some reason, the first night I put it there, no cramps. It worked like a charm. Try it! It's just a bar of soap . Hope you feel better! Charley horses are evil! I used to wake up crying, tangled in the blanket, begging somebody to help me ou of bed so I could walk it out.

I always keep my mouth shut but in public I usually chew on a straw in a cup lol

You can do it! I'm surprised how easy it is so far . Or maybe it's just because I want the sleeve so bad this is just not worth worrying over.

How can we get the passwords to some forums? I'd like to see the Indiana Sleevers page an my fiancé wants access to the "loved ones" group and we can't figure out?

That's awesome! I have family in Jeff. I'm going through Schneck Medical Center in Seymour for all my bariatric stuff.

And Katie.brooks is looking for access to the page for military spouses. Thanks

I just posted a similar question on a different board specifically for "site questions" maybe we'll see progress there

3 days today! And not that bad at all. I've only needed 3 pieces of gum total. I heard days 3 and 7 are the worse. I'm pretty happy with myself! I've quit worse addictions cold turkey but for some reason was terrified of this lol

Haha I can't help it! If I've got boobs this size and I'm not breast feeding a child since I have no kids they had be a pay off. If I carry cantaloupes everyday they had better get some action!

Anyone Eating & Drinking At The Same Time?
lizv123 replied to NJSleeveboy's topic in Food and Nutrition
Any Bariatric surgery (except the band) can cause dumping. The risk of dumping severity and longevity increases with the bypass. In my support group we have 4-5 Sleevers that have dumping. -
Hello hello! I'm from Scott County Indiana. About 45 minutes straight up on North 65. I'm so glad to see there are some people at least close! I'm pre-op. one more nut appointment before they send off for confirmation. I'm so excited!

Laying In The Hospital Bed.
lizv123 replied to smiller1982's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I also have a question for guys. My surgeon said if things go ok I'll be in the hospital one night MAYBE two. The releasing is a little quicker as the procedure is for laparoscopically AND with the DaVinci robot. But what did you guys pack? I know I have to walk right after surgery but I don't know if I should bring my own pjs? What kind of bra? Houseshoes? Toiletries? Protein stuff and supplements? Thanks in advance! Liz -
