I Hate It When People Misuse "literally"!

Something that drives me crazy on here-we "feel" hunger, we don't "fill" it. We don't get hurt "fillings" unless we're talking teeth!

    Dry mouth

That didn't even make sense. My attitude is fine. Take the advice. Your body could handle that much salt pre op because you could make up for it by drinking more Fluid, you have a tiny stomach now that can't handle it.

    Dry mouth

I've read the other threads you've started. You didn't research, you jumped into this, you pushed your surgeon to advance you in more than one way. You want advice? Stop eating frozen meals like lean cuisine because they're packed full of sodium and can dehydrate you. Here's some more, be lucky you can make so many mistakes and not suffer like some of us have even when we did everything right. I hope you don't ever have a leak, but your behaviors will lead you there. Drink more Water, look up all your perscriptions for side effects, use biotene, watch the sodium intake, and watch your attitude around here. People aren't willing to help the ungrateful.

    Dry mouth

Then maybe you should call your doctor for an immediate answer since you can't be bothered with the banter a forum has.
  5. I've found any kind of "pre-cooked" chicken smells sooooo bad!!!
  6. This is how several surgeons are post op. once they've cut you, they've got you for the long haul. Be forceful. Squeaky wheel gets the oil. And what was your CT scan negative for, exactly?

    biggest regret

Weird pain every now and then, started struggling with a fever, but I'm home I lost soooooo much strength in the hospital it's taking a long time getting back to real life lol
  10. YES!! It's seriously causing problems too. Everything smells bad. It's so hard to eat when you're nauseous from hungry and the smells are so bad. You're not alone!

    biggest regret

I hate being this person, but I regret having it done at all. I'm a leak survivor. The pain I'm still in from that and my original surgery on 11-19-12 isn't worth it. I'm only down 30lbs. Not worth it. Seeing my family watch me almost die and give up their lives to stay by my side for the month I was in the hospital, not worth it. It's a major surgery and while this site is great and helped/still helps me TREMENDOUSLY....I have to be honest with you. Think seriously. I was wry low risk, my surgery went fine, I ate perfectly and my surgeon didn't make a mistake. I was just that statistic, and you could be too. Good luck!

    unusual pain?

My surgeon starts all his patients on a 6-month daily pepto, tums, Prilosec regimen. I didnt even think of heartburn! Glad you found relief!

    unusual pain?

Go see your doctor. Or the ER. Run, don't walk. This was my first leak symptom, the first time I went to the ER they dismissed it as costochondritis which you could easily have but demand a CTscan WITH dye or a barium swallow. If it weren't for my chest pain I would've been in the hospital much longer and wouldn't be here today. You're still in the leak window. Nothin wrong with being cautious!

    Undecided

I don't get hungry, but I get very nauseous when I need to eat. It's very hard to stand in the kitchen and prepare your food while you're holding back gagging. Also, I had a leak and nearly died at no fault of my own or my surgeon and I still regret my sleeve horribly. I was in the hospital for a month, I'm still having issues with my drain site, I got MRSA in the hospital, I couldn't have anything by mouth for 3 weeks, no meds or ice chips, and my voice has damage from the NG tube shoved up my nostril and down into my stomach. My BMI was near 50. Will I lose more weight with the sleeve than without? Sure. But I watched my family sit in fear every day as I suffered and nearly died. There is plenty of good on this site, but don't just shrug off the bad.

    omg

Sooooo much better! Still a few issues with my drain and such but worlds better
  18. It's my birthday! I made it to 26, and the morning of my emergency surgery and even the day after they weren't sure that would happen. I've been home over a week and while I went through some rough morphine withdrawals and thrush, I'm doing ok. Came home on full liquids and tonight (I keep weird shifts with my fiancé) I had some mostly puréed chicken salad. Or life cycle salad since I added an egg to up the protein I had 2oz and while it feels totally different it isn't making me sick and I have more energy right now than I have since the day before my first surgery. Not that I'm running a marathon or even walking the block quickly but I can shower by myself, and make my own meals. I will say I almost went to the ER a few days ago for HORRIBLE pain in my drain site. I called my surgeon and while I was laying down with an ice pack he called back. I felt much better, stood up to read him my intake journal, and realized I was soaking wet. I though my ice pack burst. It was my drain, the pain I had was a softball size mass of fluid that had collected internally but managed to find my old drain tract and started making its way out. Surgeon said this is good. Now if it stops draining and my fever doesn't go down I need to call him but as long as there's some discharge my fever stays gone. It stopped a coule hours last night and my fever spiked to 102.5. Placed a warm compress and no problem sense. It's gross, but part of the process. I have my first follow up on Tuesday. (I was in the hospital before I even made my first post-op appointment.) Thank you EVERYONE for EVERY thought and prayer. It's so hard to explain how much that kept me going. Even at my worst, I read. I couldn't respond but I promise I read, I even teared up early on (when the NG had taken my voice away) that was fun to try and mime Hope everyone's new year was fabulous and is still great. I've never been so grateful for a birthday. And if you wanna share your "staple" soft/mushy recipes I'd much appreciate it
