Anyone lost 1/2 the weight and then can't loose more?
hepktty replied to Sherry S's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am 38 had my surgery 4 years ago. Before surgery I lost 63 lbs, after 45, and now I'm stuck. I cannot lose for the life of me I was running a 5k 4x a week last summer and lost nothing. I am now diabetic after keeping my numbers below for 9 years. I am at a loss. I am in the middle of preparing to cut all white food, sugar and possibly go vegetarian. I am kinda sad I have to go to that extreme. I am tracking my food, carbs and sugar. I don't know what else to do... -

Laser did not work for me, made the hair a little bit softer for a few weeks then came right back. I may need to look into electro! -
Try wheatfreemeatfree.com love the recipes. Went gluten free/meat free for the new year and we(the whole family) are loving it!

Will do shy... but I find it goes in stages, I lose and it looks saggy then it shrinks and its fine, then I lose again. -
I am on metformin and it really did help with my weight loss. The only thing is you will probably get the runs till your body gets used to it. And if I take it on an empty stomach I throw up. That may just be me from what I'm learning. But most agreed about the runs.

Lmao! Great post! Started "practicing" again at 6weeks after surgery and had no issues. Maybe as others said could be air or diet. I know a few times I almost gaged because the taste, which didn't bother me before. Sometimes there seems to be more acidity then others.

PCOS here, diabetes and fibromyalgia! I'm 9months out and sad to say my symptoms haven't changed for the pcos. I am using Minerva? (sorry bad speller) but the improvement for the fibromyalgia is amazing! That alone is worth it. I'm just hoping the diabetes goes away. I am also a slooow loser. After losing 53lbs, Sleeved 12/26/12 weight 148, current 193. Just saw my surgeon and he said everything was great and he is satisfied with the loss. So am I now.

9 months out, 105 down and mine is now starting to sag on top. Not too worried, my bestie had mommy make over(breasts, tummy tuck and lipo) and instead of lipo opted for the vaginal lift. She loves it! -
Just because it's no sugar added doesn't mean there's no sugar. In those high amounts it is not good. I have not been able to find one that has low sugar. So I gave them up. You also have to be care of alcohol sugar its just as bad!

I have lived a diabetic life for years now. I guess I am just use to the flavor. I told myself this is what it tastes like and after a while it kicked in. And I am not diabetic. Mind over matter sometimes. Just adapted the life after getting gestational diabetes while pregnant. It went away but I was so used to the diet I just kept on.

My fav. when I feel like something decedent... sugar free pudding (love the cheese cake) with cool whip added in. Then flavored jello with fruit in it. Used to make it with angle food cake cut up in the pudding, but its just as good without. Almost no calories or sugar!

When you can look up baked scotch egg. Great recipe. Hard boiled egg surrounded by lean ground meat. Tons of protein. I can only eat little more than a fourth. I like the regular recipe but for my daughter I add crushed pineapple and sweet soy sauce to the meat.

One of the best lessons my Sleevilla has taught me to date.
hepktty replied to LipstickLady's topic in Food and Nutrition
This is a geat convo. Since I was sleeved it has made me stop and think what I want to eat, mainly which would be more satisfying whether it is what part or type of food. I would rather have another bite of steak or bbq (meat) than rice, pasta, or even potatoes! And my cooking which was good before is amazing now due to getting creative with seasonings and sauces! -
Thanks for the tip space, but like fiddleman said, I just don't find myself wanting it as much post op. So it doesn't feel worth the trouble! Lol

I love my collar bones but my wtf moment was when I hit my hip bone with my wrist. I looked up thinking something was resting there like a book or whatever. I realized what it was and just sat there not really comprehending it. Then I got the biggest grin! Now whenever I lay on my side I'm always touching them lol!

I have a little different problem, I know I have lost weight and I get the smaller sizes when I am shopping for them, but any other time I still feel big. I have dropped 10 sizes! It took me going to the pool which was daring enough, but when I got there I was the skinniest one there! I have been reliving that moment for weeks! Now its starting to sink in little by little. But without standing in front of a mirror I catch myself with the mentality of still being fat.

I usually only get a tall coffee with sf syrup, non fat milk, you can also get it iced. I do really miss my iced vanilla chai lattes. Way too much sugar in the chai!

Did you eat grits in post- op?
hepktty replied to CatherineJo's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
You can add your protein to grits and then add butter, cheese or even sugar free jam ( when allowed). I even used my vanilla shakes for the liquid in my grits and oatmeal. I am 6mo out and still doing this and drinking shakes. It works great! -
All of my December sleevers...
hepktty replied to blkdiamond377's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I come here every couple of weeks to check in and now I need some support. I was sleeved 12-27-12. Before surgery I lost quite a bit of weight. Was 297 started running dropped to 258, day of surgery I was 248 now I am 197. All in all seems like a lot but only 50lbs since surgery. I need help figuring out why I keep getting stuck. I know everyone says don't look at others, were all different, but this is getting depressing. I think it might be stress and I have relocated so I don't have my doctor anymore. Maybe some ideas for menu's? 800 to 900 calories? I feel lost. -
So moving on next topic... I have dicovered a great recipe app called ziplist. You can download and it will even make a grocery list. You can find emily bites on there. Get mini recipe's. I have started cooking them for the whole family and they love it. Enjoy!

I appreciate your opinion myst, others seem to be very passionate about theirs. I have first hand experienced a friend that is battling with food issues and depression because of. They do not want to screw up and its effecting them severely. I on the other hand am sailing thru this and its a comfortable change. I just don't want others to walk away feeling less if they choose to handle it differently. If someone picks up the habbit of anorexia or bulimia then there probably others things going on that led to it. Its hard to quite cold turkey. I needed it to just get show me I didn't need that cheesebuger. So it served its purpose. Baby steps is all I'm saying!

Wow didn't realize I started a controversy! I follow my diet to a t but on 2 occasions I did take a bite and spit it out. When I thought about a second bite realized I wasn't missing anything. But how sad for ppl to come on her and criticize each other. If you have the perfect will power then why are u here? Why are u in the same situation? Everyone is different and may not be the super hero u think u are. Please think before u speak. I know its asking a lot!
-
Well its natural to want it, how many years have you been eating it? So chew and spit is good just take a small bite so u don't swallow any food accidentally.
