What's More Important Water Or Protein?
bumbles replied to jkfjdohio's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It would be easier for me if I was back on protein shakes. I can drink the protein shakes or I can eat protein, but not both, at least not within 6 hours of each other..... -
Hi all I live in the Upperfreehold/Robbinsville/Allentown New Jersey area. I am looking for fellow sleevers in the area. Maybe we can get together and support each other. I have a few questions every now and then and would be nice to have someone local, rather than on the internet. Hope you answer!!

oh also, I'm afraid I'm not getting all my fluids and protien in - it is so hard!
-
I feel the same way - first off, I have no desire to eat. My husband has to remind me to eat. Second, if I cook something, there is so much left over it seems so wasteful. I tend to eat the same stuff over and over. I do get depressed a bit. matter of fact, my husband and friend went out to dinner tonight - I passed because I knew I couldn't sit through watching them eat.....

Wow! I actually live in NJ - but my son lives in Mooresville - Up here in NJ doesn't seem like there is anyone close by who has had this done! Wish I lived down there for more support!! Good Luck everyone!! BTW I was sleeved 9/25 lost 40 lbs so far!! Again, Good luck to all!!!

Is Anyone Afraid Of Losing Too Much Weight?
bumbles replied to beba238's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Isajck, what is post weight loss lollypop look? I have a fear of losing too much weight also. I was 220# 5' 6", when my DR suggested this surgery. My husband and I were both dumbfounded that he suggested I do this. I knew I was overweight, but not obese in my mind. My BMI was border line 35. But post-op 5 weeks I was taken off my blood pressure medicine. Now my concern is losing my eyesight because the vitamins are nasty. My brother's friend went through this but he gained his sight back. So to date, in 8 weeks, I've lost 37 pounds in 8 weeks.....I just think it's coming off way to easily. My DR says I'm right on track. At what point does one stop losing weight? I know I'm crazy and in 5 months I'll be complaining but my mind does wonder..... -
Is anyone else experiencing bad constipation? Also, sometimes my stools are very light in color almost white. I am on vacation in the caribbean right now, can not wait to get back to the states so I can call my DR. I'm concerned.....

Hi Caruso, The staff at the hospital was wonderful! I had no complaints. I normally have procedures/appts at Princeton Medical Center (now at Plainsboro)... Good Luck! Keep in touch!! Bumbles

doing well, you?

My doctor suggested the sleeve last december. My husband, nor anyone in my family or closest friends were on board with me, so I discarded the idea. Then in July, with more health issues creeping up on me, I decided to do it. I told my husband exactly that. He then was on board. I made him go with me to my Drs appts. The DR flat out told him that it would add 10 - 15 years to my life. From that point on, my husband has been such a dear, helping me 100% Good Luck....you have to take care of yourself first - only you can do that!!!

Either is scary when it comes to clots - the Factor V, there's nothing to do except to not be over weight and eat healthy - my DOCs even said that an aspirin a day or coumidin wouldn't help..... you are lucky!!!
-
Hi! I'm from Allentown New Jersey - out by Great Adventure/six flags. Had surgery done in Hamilton - RWJ by DR Dobruskin.
-
I too have factor V. That is one reason my dr suggested I have the sleeve. My sister had a stroke at age 53. I am 48. Both my parents had blood clots. I was terrified of dying from a blood clot. My dr also sent me home with the shots for two weeks. It's been 3 weeks and everything is fine. In the hospital they got me up and walking ASAP. My only fear now is that a clot can happen up to 6 weeks after surgery and I will be going on an airplane for 4 hours.

Vitacraves And Other Gummy Vitamins
bumbles replied to aprilcarrie's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
where do you get these gummy vitamins? I can't stand the multi vitamin chewables. I like the sublingual B12. I also have caramel chewy calcium ones.... -
I'm curious too....going on vacation soon and would like to enjoy some wine or fruity drink.......

Sept.24Th Sleevers How Are You All Doing?
bumbles replied to SLEEVEDNBEAUTIFUL's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have just today started to keep track of what I'm eating. Boy am I way off! I'm almost getting my protein. Water hurts. Shakes, I only have a little....applesauce went down fine I guess I should sprinkle protein powder on that. Pureed food makes me sick.....it hurts my stomach, I have to run to the bathroom and I get the sweats and chills right after eating. -
Be honest. One time my husband had surgery for one thing and actually had two surgeries at once. When he told me afterI felt my heart fall int my stomach. All I could think was why couldn't he tell me???

I had mine 9/25 lost 26 lbs including pre op diet. Food isn't a problem this week as I'm on the mushy stage so as long as I can purée it I eat it!!! -
