I am seriously struggling
moregoodtimes replied to apelt001's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I had to quit using my powdered shake mix. It was just too rich and did the same thing to me as it does to you, even when i tried it with Water. The premixed was fine and also the Protein sports drinks.. Isopure and designer whey blitz. I bought too much of it so hoping it will work ok down the road when i am eating more solid food. -
Going to miss the most
moregoodtimes replied to KatInFL's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Rather than thinking about whats loved and will be missed, maybe we could think of this as the opportunity to really get it right and leave behind those things that are really not healthy for us. I have major issues with some complex carbs, so as much as i would like to eat like a normal person and not diet once i have gotten down to goal, i may remain a carb addict and never be able to limit like a normal person. So for now, i am thrilled that i have broken my coffee addiction and will not start it up again, just because i can, and i am hoping i can limit carbs once i start maintenance, but that remains to be seen. I am however, not going to mourn getting rid of some of my unhealthy habits and waste time thinking about what i cannot have. My dreams are all about the blessings of the future. -
Welll!! If the thread fits......

Pre-Op diet is making me weak, suggestions please.
moregoodtimes replied to Patienlywtng on my Curves's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just be careful with juice. Cutting it with Water helps, but will still cause a sugar peak and when you crash youll be hungry so will work yourself into a viscious cycle. Ok in a pinch, but best go with gatorade, g2 and milk. My energy level got way too low so doc made these suggestions. Good luck... Feel better. -
This such a trigger food for me... I bought a jar of the regular and the chocolate too preop and used them way way too fast. I knew i couldnt limit peanut butter so should have known this is STILL peanut butter... But used the reduced fat/calories as an excuse to try it. Im going to have to be better at limiting before i ever buy it again. Just be careful and log it with everything else you eat.

Some carbs are still important so maybe use real milk 1% to mix your shakes... Or g2 for the extra few carbs and other nutrients. An extra quality pre mixed shake might help. The goal thenpreop is to drastically cut the carbs and for some, to lose weight so if you are doing that, your good to go... But you still need to be nourished enough to be able to walk into the hospital! -
My timing is terrible - could use some advise

I am single and depend on a good job so i would have to do what was necessary to secure it. If starting the job and showing your skills and commitment a couple of months sets you up for a better relationship with your employer, and secures that job for you for years to come, then thats what you might need to do. -

moregoodtimes replied to mactrio's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

My nut said to think of it two ways..... If it breaks down with mainly saliva and little to no chewing.... Like crackers or chips.. It is a slider and moves through too quickly. BUT You can also make good foods sliders by adding goop to them causing them to slide on through your tummy too quickly.. Ex.. Too much mayo in tuna, too much gravey on beef or drinking at the same time while eating! The goal is dense Protein to cause the pylorus to close.

Once i had made the decision to go forward i could never have waited until september! Do you know what your insurance requires? If theres a 6 month supervised diet, you might want to go to your pcp and get that documentation going. I would be looking for another doctor ...i just could not have been patient enough to wait so long! Good luck!

Wow! Gratz granny! I have two more years of "must work" until retirement, but then want to volunteer as well. -
I had to delete the app and reinstall several times before it finally connected correctly. Ipad issue... No pc probs.

You will be in and out so fast you wont need much of anything. I hauled 80% of the stuff i took home unused. Toothbrush, lotion, chap stick, hair brush, same clothes home as you came in and pillow waiting in the car mainly for security.

That is his protocol to make sure you allow your new stomach to heal properly and that you dont do the wrong thing and damage it. The whole length of your stomach is a raw wound. Your stomach is swollen and numb so you cannot "feel" what is happening there so taking small sips of only liquids keeps fluids and nourishment moving through it effortlessly. Just do what he says, get off to a wonderful start and count your blessings! You will need the time to heal, rest, learn to manage what you do get to eat, sort your clothes into descending sizes, take walks, etc.
