  1. I immediately cut white carbs, starchy veggies and dropped the fruit to lower glycemic fruits. Ate a high protein diet and followed the basic rules... Protein first, small bites, chew to nothing, no water 30 before and 45 after and learned to track intake daily.. It got my cabinets cleaned out and started building good habits for post op. i also think it has made the liquid phase easier to live with.... Oh..and lost 23 pounds in the process. I wish i had been able to make myself exercise more because i believe surgery recovery goes easier if you have.

    Protien Shakes/Powders

For me, it has boiled down to cost and convenience. I am currently not picky so premier from costco fits thst description. I also want a guzzle and go shake. I do not want to get caught up in mixing, adding, enjoying, etc another food that i can end up putting my focus on like the old me rather than exercise and other parts of life I have missed out on because of the hyper focus on food and when I will get my next bite. Also...my costco currently has muscle milk and protein isolate powder on sale. I dont know if that is all of them or not, but the coupons are in their flyer.

for those of you who live alone

I have a friend taking me home. Depending on the release time and how i am feeling, she has agreed to either stay over night or go home if i am home early and doing ok. I wanted only the ride home but finally agreed with her that perhaps it is not smart to be alone that first night.
  7. OMG... You are soooo right! Darn...this is the second time I have known what to buy and got caught up in all the choices and ended up with the wrong thing in my hand when all was said and done! The other time was protein powder... Grabbed one, ran home home opened it and ended up with an unreturnable big tub of protein that was not isolate. The give away was that it did not mix correctly! New rule ... Double check every item before checking out! It does not pay to rush! Ugh...so now I run off to order the correct chewable!

    Coloring hair

OTR... At some point, every person you have either provided sound info to, made laugh, or helped to pull back on track, should meet you somewhere in mid-America for a big bash! You're a hoot!
  9. Kirkland chocolates from costc...economical and yummy.

    Skin

Search the library for saggy skin. There tons of theories out there ..oils, wraps, etc.. My plan is to moisturize, exercise to build up the muscle underneath, and save for an apron removal. At your age, much younger than I, you have a greater chance of it looking much better over time but you will still do better with adding exercise.

    Cheeseburgers?

I waiver between being proud of myself and being ticked off ay myself regarding food funerals. I was being very good when i could have done it, now Im on liquids and wish I could! Shopping is tough...seeing all the old not so healthy foods that i will not be having a taste of for a very long time. I'm sticking to straight liquids because my doc is very firm about cancelling if he thinks the liver is not in A-1 shape. He takes no risks so I am walking the straight and narrow! The fact is, Im making a big batch of nutritious chicken broth for post op today and would kill to be able to chew a big hunk of that chicken! :sips MORE water:

    Hello I am new here

Keep busy with post op planning. Have all you need ready for hospital? What about after? Pantry and fridge stocked with assorted drinks both reg and some lactose free.. Just in case? Everything up off floor and unpacked for no lifting and minmal bending? Have all ur liquid vitamins and meds for nausea, acid, gas relief, constipation? Clean ur closets and drawers and get ready for a new wardrobe. Figure out what u want your new look/style to be... New hair cut plan... Etc. focus on the wonderful new life ahead rather than the worry. Wishing you much success on your journey! Im not until the 30th but pre op diet and wrapping up things at work for a few weeks off is keeping me busy... Along with all i listed above!

Day TWO of pre-op and :(

Sry.. One more thing... I think the trick is to not wait too long to have something... If i get too hungry, it is soooo hard to be good!

Day TWO of pre-op and :(

Also...pour ur chocolate shake in a mug and heat. The hot broth, herb teas and hot chocolate shakes are comforting. Hang in there. We will make it!

Get her online and let us tell her how you have scrutinized/agonized/thoroughly researched every facet of this journey. If anyone has made a VERY careful, educated and thoughtful decision, it is you! . I have totally enjoyed all your thoughts and questions. If research helps make this successful, you will astound her. ...love the new pic!
