hi i did my surgery 5 days ago!

I am 10 days out. I used no pain killers once leaving hospital after 1.5 days and was sleeping on my side on night 4. I did not even know i had a hiatal hernia or that my doc had fixed it ubtil i went back for my first preop on day 5!
  2. Just arrived home. Doing really well. Had a meticulous surgeon and an uneventful surgery....just what you want with this procedure. Good luck to all the other January sleevers!
  3. Glad your through the surgery! Welcome to the loser's bench! Now get up outta that bed and start walking!

    January Newbies ! Progress ?

I am feeling great and increasing my walk distance each day. I have never been able to nap until now so am taking full advantage of the time off! The scale is not rewarding my efforts but i am being patient for now. I go for my two week check up next tuesday the 12th so will not worry for now. Im doing well on my clear fluid intake and must stay that way a full three weeks. Hope everyone else is feeling much better now that we have at least a week under our belts!

    Pre-op diet chicken soup

You have to know if you are on clear or full liquids. I personally dont call this either one. I think it is a puree. If you are on clear liquids you have shakes, broth only, and sf popsicles. Full liquids add strained cream soups, thinned yogurt, etc. Just because you run it through a blender and there are no solid pieces does not mean it is a liquid. I was on clear liquids...others are not put on liquids at all. Find out what your doctor wants you to have and go from there.
  7. I was sleeved last wednesday..9 days ago. The nurses asked about pain the same way.. I never said more than 3 and added not really pain but more strain or pressure from moving. Did use a pain pump in hospital ..mainly at night to sleep, but no meds once at home.

Sleeved Jan 30 - just home

Hi cara! Still feeling really great physically. I have followed my plan to a tee but am not seeing much change on the scale yet. I am however wearing clothes i could not fit into before surgery so i know things are shuffling around. I am still positive and know it takes time after surgery for the body to clear out the fluids. I also had another surgery just another month before this one so have the deck stacked against me ...but only for now. There is no way to not loose so i know it will happen. I am really enjoying the time off and am sleeping like a baby ....plus taking an afternoon nap! ....just amazing! I went to a support group meeting last night so it was good to get out and go some. I am back to pushing the fluids and not thinking about food choices yet. So far shakes, Isopure, unjury chicken, g2, etc are keeping me satisfied. I wish i was not so fixated on the scale but have always been a daily weigher. So how are you? I so glad you checked in! I keep thinking about how wonderful our summer is going to be!

    Im back, surgery 3/2

Ah amy... I am so happy for you! I felt so bad when you decided you needed to wait because i knew you really wanted this for YOU! By summer you will be well on your way to a healthier life for you and your entire circle of family and friends! Keep us posted!
  10. I have 21 days of clear liquids and move to mushies on day 22. My dr is conservative so therefore...so am I. I have had an amazingly successful process so far, so intend to do exactly what he says, when he says. Tonight is my first preop support group meeting and it, among a ton of other activities, keep me busy so that i do not find myself thinking about what i dont yet get to have. This is just me doing what i think is right and i know not everyone feels driven to follow their doctor's orders, so to each their own. I just figure that i had a very dangerous relationship with food before, so why rush it now. I want it to be the fuel i dump in my engine to make it run in top condition, not the stuff i focus on every waking moment anxiously awaiting my next bite. No thank you mame!

    PB2

Both pb2 and pb2 chocolate are, for me, pure evil! I knew peanut butter was a trigger food and i simply had no control preop for pb2 either. I cannot have them in the house at all! Hopefully once i am eating food again, i will have my food demons under control and will be able to limit myself. Just remember.. It is not a free food, so be sure to count it carefully as part of your nutritional intake.

    So tired!

Also, make sure you are also getting your carbs and fats in. They are part of having energy also...especially carbs. I do my protein shake with 1% milk then switch right to g2 for the carbs. Noonish i am back to the shake or unjury chicken with milk and 1T evoo then right back to g2. It is tough to get in all the fluids along with the right nutrition. I cannot imagine what it must be like with the kids too! Sending you best wishes and a "you go girl" because i know it is tough but i also know you have done a wonderful thing for you and them! Hang in there!
  16. I saw a post to you that was pretty unkind. Let me say first, that early on, i thought you were just a smidge over the top, BUT have come to love and appreciate your carefree banter. And secondly, we need you on this site. You started standing out when there was real nastiness going on and, i am betting, many left the site. You roared in and lightened up several weeks of blaming, name calling, insulting postings. Things have swung back to a more positive nature and I thank you for that. Yes, i can see that those wound a bit tighter than myself might not see humor in some of yours and fyres comments, but hey.... Sure beats that other crap that was going on. So please... Dont curb your enthusiastic nature. They keep saying this site is for all, but they keep routing out those that they dont see eye to eye with. I think you give very patient responses to those i have to ignore rather than say... Do a search or try google!... And your responses are sensible, genuine and come from a place of good common sense. Hopefully you are not posting because you are just busy rather than feeling down over one comment. And you know what .... You have never, ever said anything even remotely close to what was said to you so please keep it in perspective and get yourself back in there! I would really miss you if you left.
