Hello! I had my surgery on August 21, 2012. What a journey it has been!! I needed this surgery in order to get my BMI down to qualify for a lung transplant. I am 42 years old and have an autoimmune disease which has attacked my lungs. Because I have been up and down on steroids over the last five years, it has been very difficult to lose weight. My pulmonary doctor suggested weight loss surgery and here I am! I am hoping that the surgery buys me some time before I need the lung transplant. So, my reasons for having this surgery are a little different than other people's reasons. I hope that I will get excited about looking better and enjoy the weight loss, but being five weeks out, I am still learning how to eat, what to eat and battling diarrhea, while trying to stay positive. I still feel weak and washed out alot. Just wondering if anyone else has had the same issues. Right now, I am still trying to learn all the ins and outs of the new eating style. I must say that I really do miss sitting down to a regular meal!! Hopefully I will get some tips and encouragement on this site. EVeryone seems so positive and I am feeling a litle upset because it just has not been an easy transition for me.
