    Regrets

Ok....to begin with, here's an analogy/experiment for you to think about: On a scale, place an empty glass on it. Look at the weight. Now, fill the entire glass with Water. Did the scale move? Obviously, yes. BUT...water has no calories and we shouldn't gain weight, right? My point is this...don't weigh yourself after eating. You will gain weight. A gallon of water roughly weighs 8.35 pounds (google it) lol. I weigh once a week, in the am directly after urinating. I would be interested in knowing what your daily intake is. Calories, foods, protein/carbs/fat ratio. It really does make a difference. I only say this because last march (2012) weight started creeping on me and no one could figure it out. I had a trainer, nutritionist, 2 endocrinologists, several tests and all other kinds of nonsense. It turned out to be something simple, no medicine needed. (This was preop) You may need to reach out to a specialist, as well. If we had more information, we could possibly point you in the right direction as far as nutrition goes. Do you use my fitness pal and is your food diary open? I'd be willing to look at it.

Awesome job, BTB. you're doing amazing!
  4. I think it depends on how much, how long, and how often you are going to be working out. For some activities, you are going to need more complex carbs, which you can get from fruits and veggies. Fruits are higher in sugar so you have to be careful. You can supplement, but why not go au natural? You can blend on this up and make a "green" juice-type drink and get lots of nutrients and energy. Rule of thumb: carbs before, Protein after. Hope this helps some.

    Coffee

I drink chike Protein powder. Lol. I really do. It gives me my iced coffee fix. Also the click vanilla coffee (I think) but I don't like the mocha flavored one. It's weird, but my tummy doesn't like it. I haven't ventured out to regular coffee, although I thought about it today. The first time I have even wanted it. (6 weeks post-op).
  6. You look great! Thanks for sharing!

    Kids?

I told all of mine. All girls, ages 17,15,13,& 8. With the exception of the 8 year old, felt they were all old enough to 'get it,' emotionally. The 8 year old, I explained and told her what I was doing and she was fine. I know everyone has different opinions on this, but I believed it was what was best for us. The odd side to this, I still haven't told anyone else (my husband and one friend only) ..including my own mother. Lmao.

    Anyone using a Fitbit?

I have both, so here is my 'humble' opinion on both. Nike fuel band: Wears like a bracelet - it can get wet any time you wash your hands. (I'm a hairstylist SO THIS SUCKS MAJOR BUTT) lol. Obviously, I can't use it on a daily basis for this reason. Easy to use. Lets you compete with others via Nike. Keeps track of "fuel", calories, steps, and lights up pretty cool. I love this thing...just the "my-hands-are-in-water-all-day" Good news for any one wanting one - I will sell you mine for $100 and I pay shipping. Fitbit: Can put it in your pocket (bra, clip on belt, etc) Links to MFP (automatically adjusts your daily calories according to their calculations - manually with nike fuel band. Hope this helps.

    Running speed question.

In my experience and in training for 1/2 marathons, I actually went to a trainer and a running coach. The running coach had me train doing HIIT. (High intensity interval training) jog, run, jog, run. It's no joke. You'll be sweating more than running a steady pace. But, you'll build speed. Before long, you'll be able to run a faster pace, for longer duration. I started at 2 min. Intervals for each then built on that, weekly. There are several others on these boards who run and have great advice, as well. Good luck!

  15. Delta, it took about 2 1/2-3 weeks to literally notice it. I was walking around the mall and thought, "I feel good today." So it had literally snuck up on me. Just like the gradual change in feeling bad did. I take about 2,000 a day now. Initially, the drs had high doses for me for a couple of weeks to get it in the normal range. At thebeginning of January was when it finally was in the normal range, so it's all recent stuff. I never knew that vit d could throw your entire body out of whack. Lol
  16. Yes, you can. Vitamin d3 is usually what you want to get. I was very low on vit d3 levels prior to WLS and was gaining weight. Yes, I was doing everything right. Logged food, worked out, nothing I did not log. Long story short, it was crazy. It took 4 doctors, including 2 endo's to figure it out. (Obviously not very thorough endo's). I was sleeping like crazy! Anyway, once that was figured out, weight just literally dropped off (all that I had gained). I continue to supplement. It's the "make you feel good vitamin." I also want to point out that I cycle ( 1- 1/2 hours) walk/jog, work in my garden, hike. All outdoors. All that sunshine in Texas, and it still wasn't enough. Good luck and stay on top of it.

    Cop-out

Lol My words to my husband: "you want to succeed as my husband, right?" Him: laughing..."oh yes, more than life itself." Me: "then support me and don't screw this up. I will take care of my needs and my own portions. But, please, don't sabotage this or be a food-forcer. I want you to succeed as my husband, as well." True dat.

My Sleeve experience in Mexico :)

I was too! My entire experience was great. No pain to date, still healing very well, no nausea, and dropping pounds. He has a great pre/post-op plan that I follow to the 'letter.' It's there for a reason. I was concerned about someone leaving me, or forgetting about me. Lol. Never happened. Enjoy the journey!
