    I'm famous!

It's like his frank and beans are all squished together in there.
  2. Amy...I couldn't get mine in, either. When I remembered how people were going to the ER for dehydration...I remembered hydration first, then food. There was no way I was getting 5 meals a day in plus my Water. I am 9 weeks out and still don't. Although this week has finally started picking up for me. Which I am EXCITED about. Some people I see eat 4 ozs at one sitting. I can't. Mine is more like 2 ozs. On solids. I cant even eat a whole egg!! WTF?! liquids are easier for me. Up until this week, I have survived on 3 Protein shakes per day. And it usually takes me an hour to an hour and a half to finish one shake. I don't think it was an issue or something wrong, nor was it a pain in my butt, my tummy just wouldn't hold it. I am up to about 750 cals. per day. (I am now having more food and 2 shakes per day) I take all my supplements in the a.m. With the exception of calcium citrate. I will usually take it at lunch or dinner. I don't have any additional medications to go with those, so yours may be different. Hope this helps some.
  3. Wow. I haven't. And hope I never do. Interested in what causes it, though? Carb overload?

    Cost of Surgery

Not just disturbing....OBSCENE. Makes me sick what insurance companies and the government has done. They bill the ins. company that much due to "negotiated rates," - what they actually receive. Which is why self-pay is cheaper. I understand it's still a business, but it's disgusting. There's no winning to the situation. I took my money and ran to Mexico. best thing I ever did. And a great vacation.

Cottage Cheese - What do I do with it?

I hate cottage cheese, so I make mine taste like pumpkin pie. 1/2 c cottage cheese 1/2 c canned pumpkin (NOT pumpkin pie, it's sweetened) Then spices: I put in cinnamon, cloves. Stevia to taste. (Natural sweetener of choice is fine) The ratio is 1:1. 1 part cottage cheese to 1 part pumpkin. Yummy!

    Deprived?

Nope. Not a bit. To be honest....I eat all damn day to get in my current 750 calories. It's almost like it has become a chore. Lol. I have to set timers on my phone to remind me to eat (quality) food/drinks No deprivation here.

My Sleeve experience in Mexico :)

Yes. I believe if not EVERYONE, most of us do. The science behind it: the surgeon seals the stomach, staples/sutures. He can clean out the cavity (outside portion) of where part of your stomach was. He can't clean the inside of the stomach because its sealed. It is more like a "blob" that comes up. Not a continual retching. (Sp?) Hope this helps.

    April surgery

Very happy for you and for doing something FOR you. And the anesthesia....I can relate. I swear...it's the best sleep of my natural life. really. But, I have moderate insomnia so it was all good.

    How do you cope....

This was not a problem for me. I, like you, thought this was going to be a terrible situation. Not so much. Because I have not been hungry. I have heard and read where people have head hunger and that it is pretty tough. I cook for them and move on. It doesn't bother me not one single bit. Don't set yourself up for failure. BE STRONG!!!

My Sleeve experience in Mexico :)

update: i am now 8 1/2 weeks post op and still going strong. I continue to lose weight, steadily and each week. I am now up to approximately 700-750 calories per day, pushing for 800. I am able eat more of a variety now. My sleeve loves shrimp. I do walk 5-7 miles - 4-5 times per week. I go hiking usually once per week, depending on work schedule and kids' activities. My doctor released me to lift weights and I can now start cycling again. Really excited about this. Dr said if it hurts..STOP. uncomfortable is ok, but not pain. I do feel like I am eating ALL OF THE TIME, just to get in the calories. I am able to drink Water without the whole sip, sip, thing. It's a small price to pay, but it was absolutely annoying to me. I do tend to burp. Lol. I've never been one to do it, so it's funny to my kids and husband. I get the hiccups when I am full.

    Thinkig of booking mexico ...

I had mine in Cancun and LOVED it. I am 8 weeks post op and have no regrets. It's not crowded at all and only 1 other person was having surgery while I was there. Good luck with whomever you choose for you.
  17. You look awesome. Congrats on your new self!!

    that awesome moment when...

MY favorite "revenge" moment: I'm only 8'weeks post op so mine may not be as great. Ex-husband: you look great. How'd you drop the weight? Me: I was thin when I met you. Got fat when married to you. Thin after I divorced you. Shouldn't be hard to figure out. Otherwise, getting my life back and feeling great about me is what I am enjoying the hell out of. That's my favorite moment to date. I don't mean for that to sound cheese-y. Lol
  19. I stalked for several months before jumping in, also. I actually booked my surgery (Mexico, also, with a different dr) before I finally "came out." Lol I am 8 weeks post op and have absolutely no regrets. Good luck on your journey.

    Hair loss

As a hairstylist, I will say it definitely does look better to cut it off until the lost hair grows back in. Otherwise, having length does not make up for what you are missing in bulk. Long, stringy hair looks terrible. Want thicker hair? Cut it shorter than your usual 'do and it creates volume. Highlights and lowlights will add more dimension, depth, and the illusion of more hair. Think about it...a comb-over is just that: a comb-over. Everyone knows the person is bald and is trying to cover up the bald with long pieces of hair.

    Please be honest

Everyone has different pain tolerance levels. For me, I was good to go.. I was in recovery and stood up (holding on to bed to insure I was steady), and walked to the restroom. Lol. I should have pushed the button and called for a nurse. After surgery, I declined pain meds and never took any, nor since leaving hospital. I am 8 weeks post op and my husband swears, "you're a beast. You walk 5-7 miles a day, work out regularly, work 60 + hours a week, cook Breakfast and dinner for 4 kids and me every night, keep a home, laundry...I don't get it." I just smile. I am FORTUNATE. Oh...and I have insomnia. Lol. (I think that's how I get it all done)

    need protein advice

I would recommend shopping at bjsbariatrics.com or other sites that sell sample packs. After WLS, your tastes may change and you may no longer enjoy the same flavors. Sounds weird, but it happens to several people. I purchased sample packs (nectar) and had 15 different flavors. I'm really glad I did that instead of wasting money on tubs for flavors I do not enjoy. My tastes have not changes really with food, at all (post-op) with the exception of Protein flavors. I can not stand the flavor if vanilla anymore. I should say, my sleeve does not like it all. Hope this helps some.
