Surgery Tomorrow, What Should I Expect My First Month?
GabbyValentine replied to KLNorrod's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery this Thursday October 18th. I wasn't in much pain directly out of surgery. My pain level was a 2-4 the first day or 2. They took the pain pump away the next day since I didn't really need it. I didn't experience any gas pain, but my stomach gurgled and churned a lot and still does. I was also given anti-nausea meds so I wasn't too nauseous. I did throw up once, but It was my fault. I over did it on my hospital meal of chicken broth, Jello, crystal light and sugar free jello, lol My real food cravings disappeared after surgery (for now, lol) I have no feelings of hunger and wasn't tempted when my sister ordered Chinese food for her and wonton soup broth for me or when my friend ate an ice cream sandwich in front of me. It's only been 4 days but each day is better than the day before and I hope it continues this way, My advice post surgery is really, really try to get your liquids in. Protein is important, but general liquids is even more important. You don't want to go back to the hospital for dehydration. -

Hi Everyone! Yesterday was a little rough for me, trying to get liquids in and all. Paranoid about dyhyrdration. Doing much better today got a lot more liquids down and I can even lay on my stomach for short periods of time (with only a little discomfort). Oh and I don't need the pain meds. -

Hey folks...I'm sleeved! Everything went well yesterday. Very little pain and no nausea, just really sleepy. I'm going for my barium swallow test soon. I hope it goes well so I can finally drink something. So far my recovery has been remarkably smooth. I hope it is/was for everyone here! -

Any Sleeve Surgeons In Washington Dc
GabbyValentine replied to nsdiva82's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I'm having my surgery on Thursday October 18th with Dr. Brian M.Long at Sibley Hospital. He and his staff are great! It's really a one stop shop. You can get your nutritionist visits, psychiatric evaluation and whatever other insurance requirement you may have to complete on site. You also get to meet with their personal trainer who specializes in bariatric patients pre- and post- op. Here's there website http://www.sibley.org/weight_loss/about_our_team.aspx Before settling on Dr. Long I met with Dr. Brebbia at Washington Hospital Center, Dr. Vaziri at George Washington Hospital and Dr. Tran at Howard University Hospital. While they all seemed competent, it was the staff and comprehensive of the Sibley program that sold me on Dr. Long.
