Can't Get My Damn Protein Shakes In....help
angel313 replied to kmbrlycool's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I drink the bariatric advantage shakes. I love them!!! I think I'm addicted to my morning shake. I can no longer tolerate milk or soy so I use almond milk and add about 3 oz of water to make it less thick. I strongly encourage using a blender bottle. They gave me the protein shot bottles in the hospital and they were horrible. I didn't drink them. Some people on here suggest those with juice but be careful you do not want to drink your calories. -

I too eat the weight watcher smart ones but I can not finish an entire meal. I usually eat 1/2 and only the ones under 300 calories that way I'm not taking in more than 200 cal at a time. I was sleeved 8-14.

Major Complications !?!?
angel313 replied to imlosingit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Iggychic I am much better now. This happened 8-14 this year. I didn't have rapid weight loss at the beginning like most, I actually gained 5lbs at my first visit after surgery. I was so full of fluid from the IV's. I'm on the right track now. As of today I am down 43 lbs! -
Major Complications !?!?
angel313 replied to imlosingit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was I considered low risk for surgery but had a complication on the operating table. One of the retractors at one of my port sites nicked a blood vessel. I had internal bleeding that was not found until I was back in recovery. My blood pressure dropped and my heart rate went sky high. I lost all color that they said I looked like a geisha. I was rushed back to the operating room where they opened up each port to see what was wrong and they found the bleeding. My hemoglobin level dropped to a 4. I ended up in the hospital for 5 days and had 2 blood transfusions. My healing time took longer because not only was I nursing my new stomach but also internal stitches on a muscle. Aye yay yay! I'm better now though. These things happen you just need to remember this is a major surgery and there is always risk of complications. -
Maura I was sleeved 8-14 and my doctors aid no alcohol or carbonation for 6 months. My bday was 9-14 and I went to the bar and had unsweetened ice tea. I completely get wanting to celebrate but making the decision to have surgery means life style changes. Fight your temptations.

August Sleevers?! Where Ya's At?
angel313 replied to futureskinnypants's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi all! I was sleeved 8-14. I had some complications during surgery (internal bleeding) so my journey was a slow start (5 days in hospital, 2 weeks at home with limited movement). I was actually heavier at my post op appt than my day of surgery weight because I was filled so much fluid from my IV, but I'm doing well now. Down 41 lbs! I get in about 500-700 calories a day and take fitness classes 3 times a week (those are the days I take in extra calories). Best of luck everyone!
