229lbs today that 59 lbs down in 16wks :)
JeffA70 replied to mariamitani's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Rock star!!! Congrats! -
Has anyone figured out a way to make the tops of them nonsticky? I've been flipping them when I make a sandwich so that the flat bottom is now the outside part I hold on to. They get all sticky on my fingers otherwise. Maybe I'm not cooking them enough? They taste so good, though!

I had my second apple post - surgery this week, dipped in some Peanut Butter. The first (last week) was peeled and was fine. This one was not and I felt awful for about 45 minutes. Dumb on my part, as I think I knew that our people sometimes have problems with apple skin, but I just forgot. Other than that, have not had any problems I can deduce with specific foods. All of the issues I've had have been quantity or speed - related.

Who is scheduled for Jan 8th? I'm getting nervous
JeffA70 replied to 2013isit's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Newme, one of the surprises for me is how I'm actually--gulp--enjoying(??) exercise now? Ok, not when I first started it, but by the end, I'm feeling pretty good. Glad you were able to get out your frustration with a workout! -
I bought some pants, and two casual shirts, at Bjs yesterday. I'm down to a 44, so selection wasn't great, but I could find pants with just a little searching, no problem, even with a 32 inseam. Looks like most of their pants go up to 42 waist, so I'll be able to find more soon. So nice to pay $15 for a decent shirt!!!! Even the pants were like $20 and a name I recognized!

We have Bjs, Costco, and Sam's here in Connecticut. They're all warehouse clubs... Pay an annual fee, buy in bulk, etc. I've been ever really discerned much of a difference between them all. Bjs is just the most convenient to me.

Jerky had been a tricky food for me. Not in the sense that I can't eat it, but that I CAN! Old habits reemerged when there's a big bag nearby. Scary I don't have a costco membership anymore, but I do have a Bjs one, and they have a nine pack of 100 calorie Jack Links jerky for $12, which is cheaper than Amazon. So far, so good with that vs. getting a big bag. I just renewed at Bjs, but now I'm wondering if Costco is better.

Fourteen years of weight loss/gain, one surgery, down 100 from peak.
JeffA70 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In 1999, with our first baby born, we went to get life insurance. Because of my weight, I had to get a physical first. I was 362 lbs. Thus began the decade-long journey to lose weight. I gained, lost, gained, lost, and finally, in December 2011, at 348 lbs, I decided to look into surgery. I was 301 when I was cut. Now two months out from that surgery, I stepped on the scale this AM, and was 261. A miracle. Never imagined this day would come, although it's on my bucket list. One hundred pounds gone. Thanks to all of you who have provided the support, help, advice, good ideas, bad ideas ( ), etc. since I joined this forum in the fall. -

JeffA70 replied to 2013isit's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I know...one stinking pound! But I'm going by my high, which was in 1999-2000, of 362. So, not so fast. When I started the sleeve process, I was 348, so maybe that's the official onederland mark, at 248. Either way, I'm going to celebrate. And a pound or two more beyond 262, and i won't be considered obese anymore. Hey Emerald, rock on! -

Yeah, that's a great blog. I have to try that cauliflower pizza one! I don't have a Fitbit, but am thinking about one. What model do you have? And I'm also close to onederland! Was really hoping to get there today, but alas, one pound to go. -
When can we stop being fearful of leaks?
JeffA70 replied to lwilliams65's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I asked my doc about leaks at my 6 week appointment and he basically said that he's not concerned about them at this point. Not saying it's impossible, obviously, but that was his reaction. -

Any idea on how to calculate values for microwaved pepperoni?
JeffA70 posted a topic in Food and Nutrition
I'm assuming that I'd keep all of the protein, but given how much grease is on the paper towel, and the fact that they don't taste fatty, any thoughts on how I figure out calories and fat??? -

Any idea on how to calculate values for microwaved pepperoni?
JeffA70 replied to JeffA70's topic in Food and Nutrition
I'm thinking it's much less than just having a piece right out of the bag, since sooo much of the grease and fat and melted away into the paper towel. It's crazy. But the turkey pepperoni is a good idea. -
Any idea on how to calculate values for microwaved pepperoni?
JeffA70 replied to JeffA70's topic in Food and Nutrition
That's where I'm confused. So, I took regular Hormel Pepperoni. 14 slices, 140 calories, 13g fat, 0 carbs, 5g Protein (let's just pretend we don't see the sodium number ) I went to MFP and found a "Generic - Microwaved Pepperoni Chip". I put that in and did 14 x 1 chip 14 slices, 56 calories, 1g fat, 0g carb, 10g protein. Now, I love my microwave, but it's not a magical protein adder. I did also find an entry for "Pillers - Gourmet Sliced Pepperoni chips (Made In Microwave)" I put that in and did 14 x 1 chip 14 slices, 60 calories, 5g fat, 1g carb, 6g protein Could that possibly be right (or 'close enough')???? -
I potentially could be next week. Pretty psyched.

HAH! Yeah, I'm familiar with things like that. I grilled my first steak the other night. 3 oz of a lean eye round, exactly. Could not wait to try it. She looks at it on the plate and says, "That's a lot, don't you think? Are you sure you're weighing it right? You can't cheat, you know." I felt like responding, "Um, no, it's 3oz. That heaping bowl of ice cream you have in front of me most nights is a lot, too, isn't it?" But the angel on my shoulder tackled the devil and I kept my mouth shut. I am planning the C25K as well, but starting this summer, for an October 5K nearby. Too freaking cold right now for me to start. I'm doing 20-30 minutes of elliptical as I can. I would say 3-4 nights a week. -

Milk of Magnesia is your friend. Tastes like crap, works like magic. I thought I was going to have to go to the ER as well, but once a week with MoMag, and I'm good. -
Is it time to try Milk of Magnesia? (Time for some more TMI!)
JeffA70 replied to katikati's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
MoMagnesia was my savior. It tastes vile, but I'm taking it weekly now and have not been constipated since. It really is a blessing.
