I'm no stranger to this process. I've been through the pre surgery program once before, nearly made it, and decided I could do it myself after losing 28lbs through diet and exercise. Boy, was I wrong. I had made it down to 318, now I'm in the 380s and can't believe I let myself gain nearly 70lbs. It's time for a change. On 6/18/15, I will be beginning my journey toward WLS with an info session at Unity Hospital. I hope to be approved in 6 months per my insurance's requirements. I have to do a 6 month diet and exercise preparation program before I can be sleeved. I'm excited, terrified, and cautious. It's so easy to think that this is a quick fix, but I realize my road is going to be a long and treacherous one. I will no longer be able to eat the same foods or the same amount. I will see changes in my body that will leave me trying to figure out who I am now. I will see a difference in the way people treat me. But I am so excited. I know that this is what I need, and even though it's extreme, I can't lose 240lbs without help. That's the weight of ANOTHER obese person.
