KickRocks replied to amytug's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I am planning to go on a Thursday and have surgery the same day. I will stay in the hospital Thursday and Friday night then hotel Saturday night and fly home Sunday afternoon. I want to get home ASAP. My kids are older so I don't think they will be a issue. -
I think she is talking about how to pronounce Dr Illan's name

Going to Mexico alone
KickRocks replied to coexist23's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
When is your Surgery? I am looking to book mine soon and trying to find someone to buddy up with who is also going alone. The thought of going alone scares me HAHA -
I contacted Omar about Dr Illan and must admit I am impressed. Omar even says that he is having the surgery done by Dr Illan. The only thing that worries me is he has only done 500 Surgeries on his own. He has however been working along side some of the best surgeons in Tijuana for the last 5 years. I still have many questions and really have not decided on a surgeon. I have 4 narrowed down. I am trying to find ones that can do the surgery the same day I fly in. I really don’t want to be gone more than I have too. I was going to do it here with a local surgeon 3/28 but it looks like my husband might be changing jobs in the next few weeks and I don’t want to have to wait any longer!

Thanks for sharing. Can you tell me how many days you have to stay and how much was your surgery? I'm really looking for someone who can do the surgery the same day I fly in. Sent from my iPhone using VST

One month out and lost 40 pounds so far, but I'm stalling now.
KickRocks replied to blkdiamond377's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats!! 40lbs in a month is great! I'm sure your body is just trying to catch up. I wouldn't worry about it right now. Just keep doing what you are doing. Sent from my iPhone using VST -

Smoking and Post Op
KickRocks replied to #Redy4chg.org's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm dealing with the same thing. My Dr says I have to be smoke free for 60 days and he will test me and refuse surgery! It's so hard. He also said I shouldn't start back. When I was in his office he had a young lady that started back smoking 2 years post op in the hospital. She had been there a couple of weeks. He swears it was because she started back smoking. (I don't know but that's enough to scare me lol not to start back) Sent from my iPhone using VST -

Currently scheduled for March 28th if insurance approves! If not I am going to go the self-pay route and try to go to MX around that time. Either way I am getting sleeved one way or another in March dangit LOL.

This is one thing I have been worrying about also. My issue is Tylenol don't help me! The only thing that helps me is Ibuprofen! Hopefully if i lose weight my periods will not be so painful. (we can hope)

4 months Out and gaining weight!
KickRocks replied to vonego82's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As Courteny said it could just be water retention or your monthly. Just keep doing what you are doing and try not to stress. I always gain weight around that time. (I haven't had surgery yet though) -

I have the same insurance and have to have a 6 month supervised diet you can read more https://www.bcbsal.o...s/final/053.pdf 3. Documentation must be present of participation in medically supervised weight loss program. For purposes of coverage, we (BCBS) recognize medical supervision of the diet and activity program by practicing MD's who are not bariatric surgeons, such as family practitioners, internists, and other primary care specialties (medically supervised weight loss or activity programs generally are not a covered benefit). Documentation provided by these health care providers will be recognized in the review process. At least one attempt must occur during the one year prior to request for surgery or date of surgery. Documentation must support participation in the program for six consecutive months. The following criteria must be met for this participation: Documentation of participation in a physician supervised program of nutrition and increased physical activity (including dietitian consultation, low calorie diet, increased physical activity and behavioral modification). Documentation of program participation must appear in the medical record no less than monthly for a period of 6 consecutive months by the attending physician. Documentation should include comments by the physician regarding patient progress or lack of progress. A letter does not meet this requirement. There must be medical records to document medically supervised weight loss attempts; OR Medical record documentation of a 6 consecutive month, nutrition-led weight loss program (Weight Watchers, LA Weight Loss, Jenny Craig, EatRight, etc.) with a minimum of 3 physician visits during that 6 month period documenting medical supervision, Not acceptable are self-directed programs such as joining a gym, Atkins’
