14 cc band and not losing
mammatee replied to hopingtobehealthy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a 14cc band also and was feeling terrible, no restriction until I hit 5cc then it felt good, I lost 6lbs that month went for another checkup and he would only give me less than 1/2cc (after I pleaded) that was last month and I went back to no restriction at all (strange) so went back yesterday and he was very surprised at no loss, he gave me more than a 1/2 cc and I am miserable today. Cant keep anything down yet but I need to hold off another day on liquid only, he did suggest that. Anyway, my point is everyone is so different, it will happen, you have room for more fills so don't stress to much. just know that it will happen. Sounds like your doing everything right and eating correctly. Good luck and hope my story helps a bit. -
2nd Fill & a bit discouraged...
mammatee replied to eisermanr7's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was feeling exactly the same way. I had surgery 3/20/08 and have felt basically no change until last month it was my 5th fill. I just had my 6th fill yesterday and may need to return to have some removed, I cant keep anything down yet, but is only the 2nd day. Anyway, my Dr. explained to me that each person is very different. The layer of your stomache lining is different thickness which means some people with thick lining will fill quickly, thin will take much more. I now have 6.5cc and he said it can take 14cc in the band. (May be different bands) Don't get discouraged there is still hope. And it will happen, just have to find your fill amount that works for your body. When it does happen you will certainly know, you will for sure be able to tell the difference, but take it slow because too much of a fill is not comfortable at all. Good luck to you. -
Vicki J- I just walked in to the lab and handed them my slip, it's all you need for blood work. I then dropped off my other slip for my Dr. to scedule the x-ray and EKG, by the time I got home his nurse called and said she entered the info. and I could go right over any time (walk-in no appt. ) I'll try to get there on Monday. As for the Psych/nutrition and appt. w/surgeon(3 more) they did tell me they will try to schedule them all in the same day. Probally one full day. They also said these appt. are scheduled fairly quick end of June early July. Said as for surgery that it varies on the person, probally if you have to loose the 10% or not. Do you know if that is mandatory for everyone? As for the fills, not sure, like you, I can only hope it to be local. Not sure if my friend will go thru with this or not, so it's nice to meet others that are local. I want to be completely ready so I can get going ASAP, maybe a swimsuit this summer!! LOL HA HA keep me posted! Thanks for all the info. Socalgal3 one more question for you, did you still feel hungry with the fill or crave the foods you were used to eating?? My friend is so afraid she'll have all these cravings and blow the whole procedure by eating. IN other words, did you have to be on a "diet" wanting what you couldn't have? My understanding is that your stomache is smaller and you just don't get hungry like before and when you do eat you fill up quickly. Can you enlighten me some more so I can try to help her along. Thanks so much.

Socalgal3- You seem to be the longest on "the band" on this thread. Can you give me an idea as far as how you eat now with the band. I know it's pretty tough for some at the startb but how is it now and do you have many limits to what you eat or is it more quantity? I have a friend scheduled to orientation with me but as she put it, she loves to eat and is afraid of wanting foods that she isn't allowed to have and because of that she's afraid of making herself sick by not sticking to it. I'm sure we'll learn all this at orientation, but I'm too excited to wait. I went for my blood work today and will go Friday or Monday for EKG and Xray. AWESOME....64lbs. VickiJ....Nice to find someone close to home. Are you going to orientation June 5 S San Francisco?? Kim SF Thanks for the post, as I said above, I ran in for the blood test today but have to go back for the rest, I want everything possible done before I even get to orientation. I wanna get started NOW, can't wait to see the lbs. finally go.

Good luck and if you can keep me posted on your progress, that will help me to know just what to expect. I didn't know about the test with Dr. so Thanks already. Hi I'm new to the site and have my first appt. June 5 for the orientation. I am so excited!! Everyone is such an inspiration, especially to a beginner! Can anyone tell me what the time frame has been for them between appts. and the actual surgery. I'm in Calif. Sacramento area but am going to San Francisco for the procedure, I have Kaiser and S.F. is the only Kaiser so far that does the procedure. Also wondering, can you actually be turned down for this? I am about 100lbs. overweight so I know that won't be an issue, what else do they consider. I know I'll get all this info. at the first meeting but I'm so excited and so afraid I could be turned down for some reason. Any input would be great. And good luck to everyone.
