I think i'm working on that online shopping addiction too. I was shopping from my iPad from home during my week off after the surgery. Then i'm doing it at work & after work. I keep buying kitchen stuff, a bento box for my lunch, Protein powders, Vitamins, running shoes, a ninja, etc. etc. etc. I even bought something today that shapes hard boiled eggs into animals because someone posted it on here LOL
It's pretty fun & my son is going to get a huge kick out of it when I put one in his lunch box!!

I am 29, my son is 5 years old and although my wife works, they couldn't afford everything if something happened to me during surgery.
Going into the surgery I had $500K in life insurance in addition to my work's coverage. I also told my wife that I wanted to be cremated if anything happened and that no matter what happens I love her and this was 100% my decision to do this so whatever happened was my own doing. It's reality and there are serious risks involved. You should be prepared for the worse.
All that being said, I was sleeved on October 10th without any complications. It's the greatest thing I've ever done for myself.

If we didn't have the occasional melodrama on this forum it would get boring real quick. We can only talk about stalls for so long.

Part of the reason I had this surgery (other than getting rid of my diabetes) was to never have to DIET again....to be able to lose the weight without counting every little calorie and enjoying myself. Don't get me wrong - I log everything into MFP (mainly for Protein tracking - not calorie counting) and struggle to get in 800+ calories a day...but I do have some carbs and i do have an occasional cookie with milk at night. I get in all my Protein from food and most of my Vitamins from leafy greens and other veggies (yes I take a multi Vitamin as well) - I don't eat fruit, yet.
t just seems like there are so many people on here who are having a tough time because I think they approach this as another diet...which most of us failed at or we wouldn't be here, right? I still enjoy food and enjoy planning my meals and such - but my life doesn't evolve around food anymore - it's there because i have to feed my body, that's it. so you might as well enjoy it!
I am probably the slowest loser here....but I'm losing and that's all that matters. It may take me 6 months to drop 60+ pounds and at 10 pounds a month its OK and healthy - not going to worry about hair loss either.
I am making a vow to myself to stop the madness and stop comparing myself to others weight loss - just keep trucking along, doing my weights and elliptical and walking the dog (poor guy is actually gaining weight with all my leftovers) and see where this wonderful new life takes me.
I hope you can all join me in enjoying our new lives and look forward to the new 'us'.

The horror of loose skin is what kept me from doing this a long time ago. I did the same as you and said "one thing at a time!" and I am 2 weeks post op now. I can't wait for loose skin to be my biggest problem. I'm going to cover it up with all new clothes!

Because if she left quietly she wouldn't be getting the attention that she so desperately craves. That is the only reason to make such a post, right?
I have to live by the numbers now... why? Because my surgeon does!! When I go in for my post op follow up on the 30th he's going to weigh me. Then he's going to calculate my BMI and tell me if my progress isn't good enough. If it's not he's going to cut my calories and keep me on full liquids. If it's good I get to progress to pureed foods!
I for one have loved the forum and it's full of useful information. I don't expect everyone here to agree with me, because everyone has a different opinion. But to be honest I don't see the same behavior or mentality from this forum that you do.

You should've posted, "my feelings are hurt and I'd like more acknowledgment for my accomplishment", or just never come here again.
Why bother with an insulting rant?

I'm not a year out, but 9 months and have met goal.
It sounds to me like the help you need is not related to the sleeve or weight loss, but may rather be a symptom of something else larger in your life. I see you went through Kaiser, so I am guessing your insurance has some mental health benefits. It never hurts to tap that resource for some direction.

twoolley got a reaction from Livinglifeout in Leak Test Question
My surgeon went in with a scope to inspect the staple line before he closed up. They also fully submerged my sleeve in Water and put air into my stomach to look for gas escaping. Afterwards they did the leak test where you stand in front of the x-ray unit and drink. I too am concerned about leaks as I would be with any complication that can follow surgery. You're right to ask these questions and the fact that your doctor is doing a leak test before they finish means he's being thorough too.
Don't feel afraid to ask what his record on leaks is. My doctor's was less than 1%.

twoolley got a reaction from bkz3 in Head Challenge! 15 Days Post Op
Hey BKZ3, I think we all feel your pain on the loss of celebratory dinners. My support group had a discussion about this last night and this is a great opportunity for you and your husband to learn to Celebrate an occasion without food! My wife and I are learning to do the same. In fact, we have found that date night is more enjoyable when we go see a movie, walk a park at dusk, visit a museum, go to an art opening, etc... Before, we would be sitting down to a huge dinner & feel to full to even do anything afterwards.
I hope that helps a little bit. food was THE focus of all our celebrations!!!

My doctor or nutritionist have said nothing about tomatos causing ulcers. I have been drinking Tomato Soup during my "full liquids" phase. It's blowing my mind how many different recovery diets we are all on.
Where do they come up with these guidelines?!
