Re-Sleeved With Dr Aceves
twoolley replied to aceves_soon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for the comments, Swizzly! Hopefully I am the same way and keep the restriction. I am learning to order smaller portions and not even prepare or dish out nearly as much as I used to. Thanksgiving went very smoothly (thank God!). I have figured out that there are ways we can "trick" our bodies into gaining weight like drinking high calorie drinks (I had a 290 calorie Starbucks as a treat over the holiday) and eating things that go down easily like chips & dip, ice cream, etc... -
I buy the Kraft 2%, personally. The discomfort isn't likely the cheese, it's the egg & you being full. Half an egg with cheese is what I was eating 4 weeks out.

Re-Sleeved With Dr Aceves
twoolley replied to aceves_soon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I always have assumed at some point the sleeve is going to stop being a tool to help us loose weight and we will be responsible for developing the habits long term. I've been sleeved at 29, which really leaves me with a lot of years to live with this. After decades there's no way my stomach is going to be as restricted as it is now. That's why I am focusing on learning to count calories, exercise, and eat normally. It's really hard to know what to expect because there are few long-term sleevers on the forum. Everyone I know that is many years out had the RNY back then. -
Marriage is a partnership, not a domination. I would never consider forbidding my wife to do anything she wants. We may be married, but she's still an individual and is living her own life. Good luck to you, and I'm glad you're getting some support with your kids.

The full liquids stage was actually the time I was tempted to cheat the most. The food is so bland and awful. Once you get to pureed it will be much easier for you to stick to the plan because you have some better options. Stay strong for now, you're letting your stomach heal and you're maximizing your initial weight loss. Someone on here says that "Nothing tastes as good as thin feels" and they're right!!!

The tickers were one of my favorite things about this forum. It told me who were the veterans and who were the newbies. -

The reason nobody has answered is because we aren't doctors. We have no rights to give medical advice, all we give are opinions. You should consult your doctor or nutritionist on questions like this. -
Objections From Loved Ones
twoolley replied to happyfam's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Putting it off for everyone else is for them. This surgery is about you. Getting healthy is about you. Living longer for your children is about you. -
Some people are driving/flying to Mexico for their surgery so 2-3 hour drive isn't that bad when you put it into that perspective. Having the surgery was the best thing I ever did. My mom forbid me to have it (funny since i'm an adult) and eventually they both came around and they were at the hospital supporting me. I've been sleeved about a month now and I have lost 57 lbs to date. The point is that some things are worth doing. Sometimes the best course of action isn't always the easiest and this happens to be one of those things. 2-3 hours drive is nothing when you consider that it's going to change your life. YOU CAN DO THIS!

Am I Doing This Right?

It Takes Hard Work.....

"cheating" Wow... like this is some kind of game. This is your life. If this were a game and I had to cheat to survive... I would. You be the cheater and live a long and healthy life. Let her not cheat and watch herself continue to expand. -
Yes I'm cold all the time. Funny thing is I used to be hot all the time!

Stop Telling People!
twoolley replied to Fallenangel2904's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
"They have a right to know." Yeah... no they don't. At least not in my family. The more private I have been in the last few years the more badly they want to know what I am up to. That said my whole family knows. I don't give a ____ what any of them think, I stopped caring years ago. They have all been supportive but they do know better than to tell me if they have a problem with it. -
First Day Of "soft" Food... Already Not Going Well...

Leave out the ground turkey for now. -
That phase sucked... I ate mostly cream of chicken & tomato soup. I had a little bit of pudding and cream of wheat. Protein shakes too.

October Sleevers-How Ya Doin?
twoolley replied to Holly5.3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sleeved Oct 10th here! I'm down 53 lbs today. WOHOO! Feeling awesome. I'm still on pureed foods. I was trying to rush into regular food buy Monday my surgeon was like "why are you rushing to get back to normal when you aren't normal yet? OMG he's right! So I'm slowing down and maximizing my weight loss now. Goal is 100# by Christmas. My surgeon & wife think I can do it & so do I! -
5 Weeks Post Op And Eating Issues Food Stuck Need Advice!

Obviously we're obsessing on the pretzels because we want them too!!! With cream cheese!!!! Awwwww man -
After being on a full liquid diet for almost 3 weeks I tried some roast beef hash today for lunch. I ate a little over 3 oz worth and I feel super full... Thanksgiving day full! This is fantastic. For the first time in my life I am not controlled by hunger. I don't feel it every waking minute of every day. I don't sit at my desk and wait for lunch time. I don't have to eat lunch then 45 minutes later wonder what I am going to do for dinner. I feel like such a huge weight has been lifted off my life that I just had to share it! I admit I am cheating a little bit. I'm not supposed to be on pureed foods until Wednesday. My NUT is very strict with liquids 2 days after operation. 3 weeks full liquids from that. 3 weeks pureed. and 2 weeks soft foods. I'm not sure why such a long time until normal foods. But I haven't had any luck getting her to return my calls lately. I feel great! I can't believe I waited this long to change my life like this!

Stonach Acid? Acid Reflux?
twoolley replied to bee0927's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was on pepcid and it did nothing. I just switched to Omeprozole and it's awesome. I used it before the surgery every day for acid reflux. I am hoping my acid reflux problems go away after surgery but so far no luck. -
5 Weeks Post Op And Eating Issues Food Stuck Need Advice!
twoolley replied to suzqlvq's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I see your surgery date is only 10 days before mine! Oct 10th here! I am still in pureed food and 1/2 egg makes me satisfied, the full egg makes me full. For lunch today I ate 2 overstuffed raviolis from Chef Boyardee. It's not the best food but the raviolis are high in Protein and very mushy. I can't see myself trying to eat chicken in the next 10 days, I start soft food on the 21st. It sounds like your sleeve isn't ready for the next phase yet. Go back to pureed foods for a week. If you're problems go away then try soft foods again. How big are your fish portions? How much chicken are you trying to eat? P.S. pretzels don't have protein & you shouldn't be eating them!!! I have a friend that is a few months ahead of me with her sleeve. I texted her the other day to see how it was going and she was discouraged because she wasn't loosing very quickly. I asked what she was eating and somehow Oreos made the list! -
Search on here "Pouch Test". I don't know exactly how it works, but you're going back to basics. liquids, Full liquids, then maybe puree.. not sure. I'm not concerned with stretching the pouch because it's not the portion of the stomach that is stretchy. It *is* possible but unlikely. You're going from a period of severe restriction due to swelling & irritation to your new stomach as it is. When you eat the entire lean cuisine do you feel satisfied, full or completely stuffed? My surgeon explained to me yesterday that full isn't the goal. Satisified is. That helped me a lot because for some reason I've been eating until I'm full thinking that is what I need to do. I was feeling kind of depressed over a stall this weekend, but I'm moving forward & getting the positive attitude back. Hope we can help you do the same!

October Sleevers-How Ya Doin?
twoolley replied to Holly5.3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just saw my surgeon yesterday and he commented on this exact thing. He said my body is different now I am working to retrain my brain. He said the object is not to feel or get full. That is what we did before and the goal of eating is not to feel FULL. The goal is to not be hungry. I told him I was eating 1 egg for breakfast with a little cheese and I was full. He told me to eat half the egg & wait 5-10 minutes. If i'm not hungry, don't finish it. He kept stressing that feeling full is not the goal of eating.
