A thread for people who dont argue, name call, dictate or generally just be nasty.

It would be nice if people would stop posting threads with topics meant to bash other people though. -

I see tickers with lots of pounds lost above me, grats fellow losers! *edited because it occured to me that what I posted was kind of off topic. -
I want to help my friends but i can't
twoolley replied to Butterthebean's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Yeah that doesn't work for me. Unless I see it in a log it's to hard to keep track of. Even with the sleeve my eyes are bigger than my stomach. I don't pull out nearly as much as I used to before surgery, but it is usually still a bit to much. -
Wow I just got around to reading this thread today and the first post vs. the last post seems like 2 completely different posts. Am I to assume that Mason is a physocology professional who deals with obesity on a daily basis? If so, it would explain a lot.

Denied. Service Not Covered.
twoolley replied to ArcusX's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Unfortunately not all insurance companies have come to recognize the benefits of the surgery yet. Luckily several are coming around and starting to cover it. Also unfortunately HR departments are still full of ignorant people who don't understand the suffering that we go through. Not everyone understands what it's like to be hungry all the time, even after you just ate. Their stomach works correctly and doesn't flood their system with hormones inducing hunger. I didn't even realize until I had the sleeve that life doesn't have to be that way. I hope you get your surgery. It's really given me my life back. I was fortunate enough have my insurance cover it but I was ready to borrow, finance, travel, mortgage or whatever it takes to get it done. You can fix a heart defect or a kidney defect no problem... but when your stomach is broken it doesn't get any attention. You just literally keep feeding the problem. Good luck! -
You certainly have the right to express your opinions. Within the confines of the forum's usage policy that you agreed to when you made your account. You should keep that in mind when you're "keeping it real".

I'm really dissapointed to see the way you're acting on this topic. Despite the fact that the story may be false, it's just not appropriate to repeatedly attack someone like you're doing. To the OP: I'm very sorry to hear about your sister. This is a very dangerous surgery and it's also taken very seriously. That is why psych evaluations and nutritionist meetings are required for almost every insurance. Thank you for outlining how important it is to research this surgery, not only to make sure it's right for you but also to know what is happening to your body. It's also very important to sit and talk to your surgeon about their procedures and ensure that testing is done prior to the surgeon sending you home. Every surgeon should do a leak test before they close up after surgery. My surgeon submerges the sleeve and checks for air leaks and there's also a swallow test and x-ray the day after surgery before I got to drink anything. This is the very reason so many of us are so serious about this surgery. It has real consequences and not getting proper care can be devestating.

That has to be a special kind of stupid!

I hate this surgery.
twoolley replied to alley-gator's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
+1 That it does get easier and better. Your first trip to the store to get new clothes is a very liberating experience. Once you start to feel the benefits of the suffering you may change your mind. -
The general rule is that mushies can be mashed up with the back of your fork. It does have a lot of fat in it and sometimes people have trouble with that right after surgery. You may want to try some at home before eating it at the restaurant or you could be running for the bathroom.

I've been sticking to orange or lime sorbet. I love the stuff! I prefer it over ice cream but I am just letting you know that the sugar content hasn't disagreed with my sleeve. I keep it under twice a week though.

YES and I drive past it on my way to work and on my way home and my standard order was a bacon ultimate cheeseburger with curly fries a large drink and a side order of cheese sticks!!!!!!! *passes out from excited run-on sentence*

You make an interesting point. This "people are so mean here" thread popping up kinda often lately. Anyways.... I'm probably considered one of the mean ones, I just don't take the extra time to sugar coat things. I work in a high pressure professional environment as a financial analyst and I am just a nononsence tell it like it is personality type. My wife actually just reminded me to be sympathetic about something this weekend... I can't remember what it was, I think her sinuses hurt or something. Obviously I failed that one. My son also knows that little Suzie stealing your toy car at school isn't a newsworthy complaint. I would like to point out that the alternative is that people stop caring. So next time someone posted that they haven't lost any weight but they just figured how to eat an entire Jack in the Box bacon ultimate cheeseburger if they just took off the top bun and cut it into 16 pieces and at one piece every 15 minutes they got SO much Protein in just 4 hours & they at all the french fries that they thought would make them sick but they didn't! Ok come on, I LOL'd while typing that!

Is my Mom trying to steal my shine?
twoolley replied to elektrik_rose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@Elektric_rose: Congrats to you for being such an inspiration! It's not often that we get to influence the decisions of our parents. I am in the opposite boat from you though. My mom is very overweight and I have asked her to consider having the surgery a few times. She has been very supportive but she still can't accept the thought of losing weight herself. She just simply says that she can't stop eating, even if she has a sleeve. You have obviously been a blessing in her life, I wish you both the best! -
UPDATE ON OCTOBER SLEEVERS WHERE ARE YOU
twoolley replied to chris54's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sleeved 10/10 @ 447 lbs. Today I am 342 lbs. I didn't have any complications following surgery. Spent 1 night in the hospital and back to work in a week. I have never been this happy in my life! -
No cokes in 3.5 months now. I still think about them all the time though. I miss cokes but I wonder how I got to the point of thinking drinking sugar water was okay. It's not like I'm a bug or something. They taste so good though.

Clothes fitting loose now

You look great, congrats! -
That's the truth. Watching my family shovel huge amounts of food into their mouths during the holidays was very disturbing. Not only did I see my former self, but something about watching how much they can eat really is gross. I will admit that I have had to go out of my way on more than one occasion to not be judgemental. I don't want to become a former overweight person that is a hippocrite and condems other people. I didn't like being treated that way and I am scared that it's what I would become.

It's funny... my wife pulled out like 7 candy dishes for Christmas this year. She put sugar free Chocolates in 1, my assortment of sugary free worthers in another, then the others she put tiny kit kat bars, and mint hershey kisses in one, kisses with almonds in another, pecan turtles in another... Okay... I am not going to eat the sugar free ones if the other stuff is freaking amazing! I lost it and was like "Why after every Christmas we've had together did you go on a candy overload this year?!?!" She played innocent for about a minute before admitting that last year she bought candy bowls after Christmas on sale and wanted to use them. I digress and moved on... I did have a few candies over the holidays but she's promised not to bring out a flurry of candy dishes next year, LOL!

My WIFE does this to me all the time. I don't throw a hissy fit or pout like a child about it, I just deal with it. It's not her fault that I got fat and had to have surgery to deal with it! I don't think men are asses at all. I think we just don't expect everyone else to change their lives because of our issues. Not that women think that way at all.

I can relate. I had a dream after my surgery that I did the exact same thing with a coke. I had drank it without thinking. I didn't go as far as dreaming I went to the emergency room but I woke up with feelings of panic. I had all the same reservations that you did and I even postponed my surgery for over a year and watched myself gain while I thought I could lose weight "the natural way". My parents even forbid me to have the surgery... Now let me ask you this... Have you ever had a dream that you were dying of a heart attack but the paramedics couldn't get you onto the stretcher to save your life? Or that your caskett was carried by 10 people because you were so heavy? Have you ever had dreams about your 5 year old finding you dead in your bed because you had a heart attack or stroke in your sleep? I know it sounds horrible and I'm honestly not trying to be mean... but I'm 29 years old and I have had all of those dreams I just mentioned above. I cried to many times because of them because I was depressed, had given up, and thought there was no hope for someone like me. I'm 91 pounds down today and I would rather dream about cokes.

Your calories are low and you're getting your protein and water. I'm going to agree with everyone else that you're just in your 3 week stall. It happened to me too. I was loosing weight like crazy, then nothing for a few days, then it started to come off again.

Does he normally condem you for your weight vs. his?
-
You're going to have to give us a lot more information for us to help you. What does your nutritionist have you eating right now? Are you on full liquids? Have you been able to get your Water and Protein down? Are you using Protein Shakes? If so, what kind, how often, etc.. Have you eaten anything off your plan? Are you keeping everything down after you eat? Are you tracking your calories in a program such as my fitness pal?

You've lost 13 lbs already, congrats! You can do this, just keep up the confidence. Follow your surgeon and nutritionist's guidelines to the letter and you will be successful!
