Hello everyone!
My name is Stacie. I am from Montgomery, Alabama and I am 33 years old. I joined this website forum because I am getting closer and closer to having gastric sleeve surgery. I am becoming more anxious and nervous as the days wind down in my 6 month doctor supervised program. I am beginning to tell people I am seriously considering this surgery, and the reactions towards me are mixed. At the end of the day, the decision to do the surgery or not is up to me.
I have a long history with weight problems. I grew up fat! I remember being weighed in grade school (third grade) and being the second kid to weigh 100 pounds (my best friend weighed 101). By the time I was in the sixth grade I weighed 200 pounds (looking back at that, I seriously don't know how I gained 100 pounds in 3 years). Throughout my entire adulthood, I have weighed between 230 and 260 pounds. I have unsucessfully dieted since around 25 years old. I am sick of the yo-yo dieting!
Also, my mother and grandmother are obese. My grandmother is at the point where she can barely do anything for herself; her muscles have deteriorated so much from immobility. My mother is in complete denial about her weight problems. She is into that fat acceptance bull**** and proudly eats what she wants. But I think she has just given up on losing weight.
I know I am headed down that same road if I don't do something drastic. I am nearly finished with my medical clearances. I am starting to do more research and compiling a list of questions for my surgeon, Dr. Les Miles.
I invite any and all advise and support so I will have a successful gastric sleeve journey! :)
