Did I stumble into the wrong forum? I thought this was the MEN'S room. Take it to the ladies powder room to berate your husband.

Had my 6 month checkup and hit my 50% mark of 150 lbs lost. It took a total of 11 month ( 5 months preop and 6 months post op). Had a HUGE plateau for the last month, but finally broke it. Now am having kidney stones and high creatinine levels. Is anyone else experiencing kidney stones and high creatinine levels? Feeling great otherwise and WALKED my first 5k FUN RUN/WALK last weekend with the family. Loving the lifestyle and threw away that darned seatbelt extender for the car.

8; 10; or 12 depending on the cookie. We would buy them and freeze them to eat ll year long, or at least 6 months. -
Why does myfitnesspal lie to me?
BopPop replied to hm734's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I quit using MYFITNESSPAL recently for exactly that reason. I stalled for over 3 weeks during the holidays, and finally quit logging into "PAL", planned my menues and stuck to them and finally started loosing again. I track everything on a spreadsheet now and made my own graphs in EXCEL. I am eating more Protein (fish) and fresh veggies and very few carbs and have found the "sweet Spot" again.............for me about 800 calories. My 90 day follow-up was a 6#/week loss, so the surgeon was ok with that, but I wanted a greater loss...... I even avoided my annual order of 6 cases (yes, I said six cases, part of the reason for the weight problem) of Girl Scout Cookies this year (that was one dissappointed little neighbor)...........now just have to avoid those cute little lurkers at the mall when they set up the tables next month!!!!!!!!!! I want a THIN MINT..............but I got off topic.......I wonder if MFP has Thin Mints listed.............LOL BopPop -
101 Pounds Lost....first Milestone Met!
BopPop posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
FINALLY hit the 100+ pounds lost this morning! One month since surgery and a one week stall.......frustrating. I lost 77 pounds before surgery and the last 24 in the last month since surgery. I had a one week stall, but finally realized that 400 cal per day was causing the stall. Got back up to 800 calories/day and started loosing again. Took a couple of trousers in yesterday and the tailor is going to take in 7inches.......the back pockets meet, so I guess the next time I will have to buy new clothes. This is 33% of my goal. Started the "full bariatric diet Thursday and real food tastes so good! Have had nothing but protein shakes and a small salad May 2 thru Oct 10. And protein shakes and puree/soft since surgery. No cravings and no hunger pains. Have to remind myself to eat. This surgery is amazing! Finally feeling good enough to start walking. I am up to 7/10 of a mile before the ankles start hurting. This feels so good and my energy level is up. Life is Great! BopPop -
I had the surgery on Oct 11 and went back to work yesterday. Feeling GREAT. I was off the pain meds within 36 hours and was totally pain free and getting around like nothing happened. The post-op liquids are doing great and I really could have gone back to work on Monday. Incisions are healing quickly and I am truly amazed at the recovery. Energy level is up and life is good. I was really apprehensive after reading all of the stories here in the forum, but I guess I am the exception. I was in the O.R. at 7:30 AM and back at home at 11AM the next day. Started this journey on May 4th at 474 and was determined to get below 400 for the surgery. after insurance hassles/delays, I wheeled into the O.R at 397 lbs. Since the surgery (9 days), I hit 387 today; that is 28% of my goal. I have inspired my entire family to loose with me and drop the LBS! I would definately do this again and encourage others. I think I had the best surgeon and surgical team in the world! BopPop

P.a. & Surgeon Against Me Getting The Sleeve
BopPop replied to TamaraS's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I changed surgeons because he was pushy and insisted on the RNY Bypass. After much research and talk, I decided that I could not live with the side effects of the bypass. The dumping in particular. Research does not support their assertion about the weight loss. I changed surgeons, continued down the VSG and here I am, 9 days post op and feeling great. When I went to my pre-op orientation, I was the only person in the room that was not having the bypass. The other surgeon pushes that procedure. My surgeon spent almost an hour talking to me in the initial visit explaining the surgeries and answering my questions. If you haven't seen the surgeon yet, I would suggest moving on. GET A SECOND OPINION, and find a surgeon you can trust! No Regrets and good luck, BopPop -
Good Luck tomorrow. I am a few days postoperative, but have been on Lovonox since the surgery and am not having any problems. Your physician will carefully monitor your levels and adjust. The surgery is minimally invasive so blood loss is minimized. My weight and situation are similar to yours. Just keep your physician informed and be aware of any minute changes in your condition. Don't wait to call your physician if you think there is a problem. Keep a positive attitude and let us know when you are back at home. This journey is amazing! Prayers are with you. BopPop

Surgery Thursday afternoon and back home Friday at noon. Took some adjustments, but finally got on a schedule. Slight soreness, but seem to be coping. Copious amounts of gas, belching and otherwise. Off the pain meds this morning (Saturday)and feeling OK. Have been sipping the Protein shakes and Water. It just all seems surreal right now, but the worst part are the bitter crushed up meds. Wish they made liquid Nexium! My nose was bleeding from all the dry oxygen, but finally got that cleared up. Finally shed all the IV fluids they pumped in me. Feeling pretty good right now. BopPop

Anyone Else In The 350+ Pre-Op Weight Range?
BopPop replied to Chicago1962's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was glad to see your post and to see all the amazing stories here. Your story is inspiring and I wish you continued success. I started out at 474 pounds and set a goal of being at 400 or less before surgery My insurance required 90 days enrollment in a "certified" weight management program. Today I hit 400 with surgery in 6 days! My cousin had the sleeve 3 years ago, he started at 450, lost 30 during the 2wk pre-op diet and is now maintaining 230. Lost all of his weight in 1 year and did a 20 pound gain at the end and managing to maintain the 230 for the last 2 years. I am hoping for the same succcess. I will continue to watch for your posts! Good Luck! -
Someone mentioned this forum last nignt in the support group, so here I am! I started this journey on May 2 with my first visit to the VSG surgeon. It took me 4 years to save the $20K for the VSG surgery. I started the dieting, didn't like the surgeon and found another surgeon that would communicate and answer my questions. During this time, I got new health insurance that pays for the surgery. I was approved (in 2 weeks! quite amazing) and my surgery is scheduled for Oct 11. I have lost 72 lbs since that first doctor visit and hope to loose another 15 in the next week before the surgery. In these 22 weeks, I have stopped taking my diabetes meds, my cholesterol meds, and today, my blood pressure meds! My clothes are "falling off", but I refuse to buy new ones until the rear pants pockets meet in the back from alterations. I owe the professionals at Methodist here in Houston a huge THANKS for all their counseling and support during this Pre-Op journey and helping me switch from the previous provider seamlessly. My wife and I are excited about my new lifestyle, but I have been on the Protein shakes for entirely too long and I have had a headache for about 3 months (LOL)! I am craving a Bar B Que sandwich and a beer right now! And it seems that the last few days have slowed to a crawl awaiting my surgery date. I have come to realize that a positive support system is the key to success here. My family, friends, and co-workers have been extremely supportive and have helped in this transition. Now I am hoping that they will come over and mow my lawn during my 3 to 4 year recovery period (big GRIN here). Enjoyed reading all the posts today. They are a real help in preparation for the surgery! BopPop I want one of those jobs where people ask, “Do you actually get paid for this?”
