I haven't taken any diabetes medicine since surgery. Day of surgery my A1C was 10.4, at my last appt. my A1C was 5.6, 5.4 is considered normal. My doctor was thrilled and said by next visit I will be below the normal limit. I had GERD before surgery and they repaired my hiatel hernia during surgery. I do take previcid 2x a day and feel so much better than before.

My 6 month totals lost each month
src8556 replied to Success2013's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think you are doing a good job. i was sleeved the week after you 01/31/13. I am down 44.2 lbs. since surgery, 61.7 total. I am 5'5" and 56 (almost 57) years old. I hear your frustration and I am there with you. I thought I would lose quicker than I am. You know the saying though, we didn't gain it overnight and we aren't going to lose it overnight either. I keep saying to myself keep on plugging, you will get there. -
Anyone NOT lose hair
src8556 replied to Jellybeansoup's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started losing my hair at 3.5 months. I take my vitamins, get enough protein and take biotin everyday. I was told that many more lose hair than those who don't, accept it and it will grow back usually around 8-9 months. My hair is fine but I have (had) a lot of it. Hopefully it won't get much worse than it is now. I am thinking about getting it cut short but I don't know if the hair loss will be more apparent with short hair. -
Anyone know a surgeon in NJ who accepts selfpay?

I had my surgery done by Dr. Naveen Ballam. Mine was done at Hunterdon Medical Center, in Flemington NJ. I believe Dr. Ballem can do surgery at Morristown also. He is affiliated with several hospitals. Check him out. I went through the Center for Advanced Weight Loss in Clinton, NJ. His office handled everything and was wonderful. -
12 weeks post op with new issue

Are you on a NSAID? My doctor prescribed a NSAID to be taken for 30 days after surgery. 3 days after I completed the rx I started having the pain in the shoulder, like you are describing. He has put me back to the prescription until I feel I don't need it any more. -
how much you lost in 4,8,12 weeks
src8556 replied to hanadi's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I started at 238.5 Day of surgery - 221.0 4 weeks - 208.0 8 weeks - 201.2 12 weeks - 191.6 Total - 46.9 29.4 since surgery averaging approx. 10 lbs per month. -
I am 11 weeks out today and have lost 23.4 lbs. I think it depends on your starting weight and how much you have to lose. I started the journey at 238.5 and was 221.0 on the day of surgery. I have felt disappointed at times myself. My doctor says I am doing fine and just continue down the same path I am going. The weight will come off. I exercise 5 days a week, am getting 64 ounces of water and about 60 grams of protein. The only thing I am having a hard time with is getting the 900 calories a day in. I usually range between 600-800 a day.

I am eight weeks from surgery. I have not lost anything for 5 days now, in fact have gained 2 lbs. I usually get 500-600 calories a day, 60 grams of protein, 64 ozs. of water and exercise 5 days a week for an hour. I had the typical 3rd week stall and had 10 days of not losing anything and only went up or down .2 lbs. I did not expect another stall so soon. Any suggestions???

Depressed and distressed! Help!
src8556 replied to kimmy42083's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First, I was sleeved on 01/31 and am down 12 lbs so I don't think your that far off the mark. I have been in a stall for 10 days now. I don't come anywhere near your total calories, I usually average 500-600 per day. I have one more week on pureed foods and then move on to soft foods. Protein bars are not even an option. Take a closer look at what you are eating, make some revisions and I'm sure the weight will start moving. At least that is what I am hoping for.
