    Utah sleevers out there?

I'm here! I'm in the Uintah Basin, had surgery 10/15/12, lost 87lbs so far! There is some great advice and support on here! Glad to see some Utah people on here Hope you're feeling less "beaten and bruised", I think that was the hardest part was the first week and a half after surgery. But it just gets better and better and you'll be constantly surprised by what your new life has in store for you!
  3. So glad to see you guys doing so well! I was sleeved 10/15/12 with Dr. Garcia, Started at 307, down now to 220! Down 87lbs, went from a size 24 to size 14 pant and from a 3x top to a Large top, LOVING the new me! I can actually keep up with my kids and enjoy training with my husband for my first marathon on my 1 year sleeve anniversary!

theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com, she has a ton of recipes that use those!
  5. The language barrier hasn't been bad. The only problems were outside the hospital, the staff is very good. I think your bear wil be fine. MY SIL gave me hers from her surgery and it has just been a huge help.

    Safety In Tijuana, Mx

I am currently in Tijuana (had surgery yesterday!) and feel very safe. I went through ready 4a change with Dr. Garcia. My husband came with me and he is staying my hospital room with me. Check and see if she would be going with you. We also went out walking to the shopping center around the corner and loved it, if I feel up to it on my last day we might go back just to sit by the pond and relax.
  7. I'm on the losers bench! Arrived at the hospital yesterday at 8:45am, there were four of us on the schedule and I was last, went into surgery @ 7:30pm! Slept most of the day and just waited my turn. I actually liked being that late because as soon as I got to my room I walked then went to bed. I was lucky, minimal gas pain just under my bust which went away rather quickly after walking before bed. The most tender area is where my drain is. Been up walking more today and passed my leak test so now I get fluids, yay!!!! Dr. Garcia and his staff is amazing! So willing to answer all my questions and explain everything to me, and they are so encouraging! Makes it so much easier. I hope everyone else has as good as an experience as I am having! I recommend bringing some things though: sugar free lozenges for the dry mouth after surgery and a samll firm pillow to hold against your tummy when getting up and sleeping. It helps sooooo much!
  8. Almost there! Sitting in my hotel room having my broth and popsicle, tomorrow morning its off to Mi Hospital and a new me! Everyone has been so nice and helpful! Samuel called right as we got off our plane and was waiting for us, he even took us on a little driving tour of San Diego since we haven't been in 10+years! The Marriott staff is extremely helpful and so nice! We went to the restaraunt to feed my husband and for me to broth it up, they brought the broth and some jello which somehow tastes better than what we have in the states! Rosie was waiting for us at the hotel and then also came by tonight to see how I was doing and make sure I was ok and ready for tomorrow, she helped answer all my last minute nervous questions she has the sweetest dispostion. Wish me luck tomorrow! I'll post as soon as I can, I hope all of your experiences go as well as mine have so far! See you on the Losers bench!
  9. Had mine out in 2007 after a twin pregnancy. I remember those attacks and I don;t miss them one bit! Yay for you getting it out! You will start feeling so much better!
  10. From what I've been told it will be like I am having my galbladder taken out again. Endoscopic, hopefully 4 small incisions, and the gas after. I don't think I have an above normal pain tolerance, but I didnt think the gas pain was too bad. As long as you walk, move, burp, etc to get it out. Gas-ex dissolving tablets were awesome and when it made my shoulder or any other area hurt I put a heat pack on nit and it dissolved the pain. Hope this eases your fear and all of us have mild to no gas pain!!!
  11. I've felt the same way. Didn't people to know because I was embarassed that nothing else had worked, plus I didnt have the total support of my family( who can all lose weight just fine with diet and exercise, I'm the black sheep). But then I styarted thinking like it seems you have, that if anyone asks I will tell them because that was a huge step to take and I should be proud that I recognized what I needed to do for me and even more for my family. I want to be as healthy as I can as my kids grow up, I don't want to be the sideline mom, I want to run with them and play too. Applause to all who have decided on a healthier, happier life and have made the bold decision to have the surgery to do so. You recognized what needed to be done and did it.

    Protien Jello

I've thought of it too, but have yet to try it. My thing was trying to figure out how to know exactly how much protein was in each serving. I have the flavorless Isopure powder and thought about trying it out. If I can figure it out or anyone else does, please share!
  13. I'm on day 8 of my 14 day pre-op diet and feel like I'm doing well. Down 15lbs, sticking to my diet and following the rules. But I have noticed my hunger decreasing. I don't feel hungry for my breakfast and by the time it hits lunch I'm slightly hungry but can't get much in before I feel full. Dinners is about normal but I am eating even smaller portions then what my diet is supposed to be. I try to eat my portions to get my protein levels in but I can't without feeling nauseas. Plus, I feel like I'm getting dry mouth. Has anyone else had anything like this?
  14. Congratulations to all of those on the losers bench! Seeing all of your posts on how your surgeries went is significantly helping me lower my nerves and gives me hope that mine will go that well! Yay for all of us!
  15. So excited for you! Let us know how it goes!
