I have 2 days clear liquids, 1 week full liquids, 1 week puréed, 1 week mushies, then regular food. I'm on full liquids right now and am eating a lot of soup (no chunks). I also have protein drinks, SF Popsicles, and SF pudding. I could use a little more variety too.

How long post-op until you showed a loss?
Pepper Paul replied to Pepper Paul's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for the replies. I know I shouldn't be weighing myself every day...alright, several times a day, but I just can't resist. I know it will happen and I'm not getting discouraged, just anxious to see some positive movement. -
3 Weeks post-op, Karate?
Pepper Paul replied to Amie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's all fun and games until you get a leak because you pushed yourself too hard. Wait a couple weeks to make sure you're fully healed. It will be a whole lot better than having to take it easy for another couple months trying to heal from a leak. That being said, I completely understand where you're coming from. I want to get back on my bike and ride, and it is going to be a challenge to wait the 6 weeks my doctor said I should wait. -
Any March Sleevers?
Pepper Paul replied to futuresleever's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm on day 3 post-op. I'm still having a fair amount of pain in my stomach. It feels like I took a couple donkey kicks to the gut. Nothing some liquid Percocet doesn't take care of though. I'm doing lots of walking. I had a protein shake today, which was my first real calories since Sunday night. I am taking fluids pretty easily. So far today I have 30 oz of fluids and 30 grams of protein down and it's only noon. I'm hoping to go back to work on Sunday. It's looking good so far! Good luck to all those who are getting sleeved today! -
Any March Sleevers?
Pepper Paul replied to futuresleever's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was pretty good until the night before when I got really nervous. The next morning I was first up though so I did okay. After my surgery I was offered by my surgeon to see photos photos taken during the surgery. I looked at the photos, and they were pretty cool, but it really hit home when I saw the pic of my stomach laying on the table. That's when I really asked myself what the heck I just did and realized just how permanent this is. I'm sure a few weeks down the road I will feel much better about it. Of course it didn't help when I stepped on the scale this morning and was up 13 pounds from yesterday! I know it's all Water weight but its still frustrating. -

Day two and I'm feeling decent. Pain is actually a little worse than yesterday. I have gas pain in my shoulder that I didn't have yesterday. Yesterday I was able to get in about 60 oz of liquid. Getting discharged in about 15 minutes. Not really looking forward to the 90 ride home. I'm just thankful I don't have to fly home. I was able to see pics of the surgery. It was pretty interesting. I think I'm going to ask if I can take them home for a souvenir. -
Any March Sleevers?
Pepper Paul replied to futuresleever's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm officially sleeved! I was here at 6:30am after an hour and 15 minute drive. It was worth it though because I was first. No waiting on delays from others! I lost 15 pounds on the pre-op diet too! That was exciting. Surgery went quickly. The doc said my liver looked great. No complications in surgery and no hiatal hernia to repair. So far I've been up walking twice and been able to get down 12 oz of water. I was fairly nauseous right after surgery but they gave me something and and after a few doses it was resolved. I'm on some sort of pain killers the Percocet family but I don't recall what it is. Not having too much pain though. Just really tired due to lack of sleep last night. I also have a rough and scratchy voice. Overall doing great! Thanks to all who have posted their stories on here. It made me less nervous seeing how many people have made it through without any complications. I'm just hoping today is a sign of more positive things to come as I progress through my path. Good luck to all the other March sleevers! -

I only slept about two hours last night, and it was a rough two hours at that. Nervous and I had a headache from the nausea patch I think. I didn't know if I could take anything for it so I didn't. On my way now though. Should be on the loser's bench in a few hours! -

The staples are made of titanium and won't set off a metal detector at the airport. They are also fine in an MRI. : -

Getting sleeved first thing in the morning. I'm not so nervous about the surgery, but more about missing food. But I just keep thinking about all those who have been sleeved before me in here who have posted that its the best thing they've ever done. Good luck to all the other March 11 sleevers! -

Congrats to all the March Madness sleevers that have gone already! The 11th is creeping ever nearer. I'm starting to get nervous. I haven't told anyone from my family yet except for my wife and kids. I almost called my sister today and told her but I chickened out. I will probably make the call tomorrow. Trying to figure all this vitamin stuff out is a pain! I was given a list of about 5 different kinds of vitamins I need to start taking after surgery, and now I'm trying to sift through the forum to see what kind to get and from where. As a side note, I just finished drinking a vanilla Premier Protein from Costco and it was delicious! The chocolate is good too, but I like the vanilla better. -

Thanks for the dude pic. I'm getting my sleeve on 3/11 and its nice to see how it's going for the guys out there. It looks like we have similar body type and starting stats, so I'll be keeping an eye on you to see what I have to look forward to a couple months down the road. Keep it up! -
how long did it take you?
Pepper Paul replied to devonmae's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I received my approval they scheduled me for surgery about 3 weeks out. That left time for a couple final appointments and two weeks for the pre-op diet. Good luck with yours! -

Going in for my final appt. with my surgeon tomorrow morning. Only 13 days away. Can't believe it's that close! -
I have 8 and 10 year old girls. My surgery is scheduled for 3/11 and I have told both of them that I am having surgery. I didn't go into detail, only explained that they are going to remove part of my stomach so that daddy can be skinny! That was enough for both of them and because I presented it with enthusiasm and am excited whenever we talk about it, they are getting excited for the big day. No one else knows except my wife and two of my close co-workers.

139 people, that is crazy that there's that many on this forum alone. Thanks again for pitting together the list Joe! You're the day after me. What's you're starting stats if you don't mind me asking? It will be interesting to keep tabs on another guy who is around my surgery date. I'm 6'1" and starting weight is 360. I am 352 as of this morning. -

Good luck with your pre-op diet PeacockMama! I'm on day 3 and so far so good. Today has been a little challenging because it's my weekend which means more down time and more time to want to eat. But as I saw someone else on here say, if I can't handle two weeks of the pre-op diet I'm not ready for the surgery yet. -

What is a lean and green meal? My surgeon has me on just a low carb diet for two weeks, but I'm on day 3 of liquids except for a small meal at dinner. I want to be proactive and get a jump start on my weight loss. Today is also day 1 of the two week countdown! -

Good luck to you Phoenix! Having someone in-house to, er, Root you on has got to be a big bonus! I hope your approval process goes quickly and without any setbacks. I'm up the road from you in Burlington, and have a 3/11 surgery date. -

BigDaddyJoe, you forgot me on your list. You were asking why there's not more guys, then forget one of the guys on here! I forgive you, this time! I'm scheduled for March 11. I started my pre-op diet today. I'm supposed to start on Monday, but after I finished up my 3 months of supervised diet and getting my insurance approval I kind of started to panic about not being able to eat anymore and went on a rampage. I put back on a bunch of the weight I lost in the supervised diet. Then two days ago Girl Scout cookies showed up. Nothing screams temptation like 2,200 boxes of delicious Girl Scout cookies sitting in your living room staring you in the face. After eating three boxes of cookies in two days I decided I needed to kickstart my pre-op diet a couple days early, so here I am. Today went well. I had three protein shakes and for dinner I had about 1/2 cup of whole wheat spaghetti with 1/2 cut of meat sauce. I haven't had any soda today either! I usually drink about a 6 pack of diet per day so it is going to be tough to kick that habit too. I did have two cups of coffee today though. Baby steps I guess. I figure getting off the caffeine will be easier if I do it slowly. Good luck March sleevers! -
