    Depressed, I Need Your Support

I have had some issues like this lately. I'm in my 7th week and have only lost 30 lbs. I have been stalling a lot lately. This week I've had to work until really late at night so haven't been exercising. I guess that is why so many people say that this is a mental and emotional process as well as a physical one. I try to reassure myself that my clothes fit better and I'm healthier, but that only goes so far. I really don't know what to say to help you feel better, other than you aren't alone in how you feel. We have some internal growth going on, which isn't comfortable and feels very unfamiliar. We need to develop new skills, new internal dialogues, new ways to handle our perceptions about food. You can't go eat a pint of ice cream or pizza to cheer yourself up anymore. Something needs to replace food used for comfort. When I was grocery shopping today, not looking at the cakes, not looking at the chocolate, not looking at bread, etc., I had that same thing playing in my mind. I'm a failure. Why am I doing this. This will never work. After you have been on 20-30 diets that have failed, we have "learned" from experience that anything we do fails. That isn't the case with the sleeve, though. We are fortunate that the medical field has finally recognized obesity as a medical problem. We have a great tool that helps us to use moderation in our food consumption, even when our choices aren't perfect. Find some things that you enjoy or try out some new things to fill the empty spots. Be gentle with yourself. Try changing the voice inside your head to be positive instead of beating yourself up or defeating you. You are not alone!!!

    When Do People Notice?

I've lost 30 lbs and nobody has noticed. I carried a lot of it in my rear and around my waist, which I tried to hide with larger shirts. Since my chest is large, my stomach was about even with my DDs. Now there is actually a significant difference in that area. I'm guessing I'll drop another 30 before it gets noticed, but that's ok with me.

    Help With Stage 3 Diet!

Split pea Soup (very high in protein) Diet or sugar free hot chocolate with unflavored Protein mix if you want (watch the temp.) Watered down cream of asparagus, cream of celery, cream of mushroom (with bits removed) Boil chicken, drink the broth (save the chicken for chicken salad for family or friends) Diet or sugar free hot apple cider

    Juicing-Veggies...allowed?

I've kept baby food in the fridge and continue to eat it from time to time. I really like the oatmeal and apple and the all natural versions with no added sweetener as well as the peas, though they all need salt imo. There are some by Gerber that I can't take where they have added sweet potato in with the chicken to make it sweet and it just was not made for an adult palate, or at least not mine. If I have two of the little containers open for supper, I can't eat it all.

    Juicing-Veggies...allowed?

I didn't know that about sweet potato. I've been eating them since around my third week.
  6. I don't even recall how I found out about BariWare, but it is pretty neat. I'm still on liquids, so haven't gotten to use it yet, but I bought a BariBowl and it is waiting for me in my cabinet. http://bariware.com/

  8. Exercise may actually suppress your appetite, two new studies suggest Getty Images stock Exercise actually decreases your appetite, so the urge to snack after a workout may be all in your head, experts suggest. By Lindsey Emery, pancakes, or maybe even a burger and fries. What they don’t want? To not eat anything. And yet, a few recent studies found that moderate intensity aerobic training could actually decrease your appetite or increase your feelings of fullness or satiety. Strange, right? Previous research has shown that people who exercise often reward themselves with food, increasing overall calorie consumption, and often sabotaging their weight loss goals. So, what gives? Breakfast and not holding back when you start to feel full. “I’m pretty certain the average person greatly overestimates the number of calories burned during physical activity,” adds Braun. “Running 40 minutes at a 9 min/mile pace burns about 450 calories, and there are 500 calories in a Starbucks Venti Mocha Frappucino (with whole milk and whipped cream). So it’s incredibly easy to negate the weight loss effects of exercise.” The fix: Nix food rewards — treat yourself to a Redbox flick instead — and write down everything you eat into your iPhone for a week. Studies show that simply logging your meals can make you eat less. Don’t skip the gym either, says Kym Guelfi, associate professor at The University of Western Australia, and co-author of the Metabolism study. “Exercise gives you benefits that dieting alone cannot, such as increased fitness, decreased stress, and increased muscle mass, which helps you burn more calories and fat at rest.”

When Did You Have A Bm Post Op?

10 days after surgery. And going into week seven, only one more time since surgery until I took matters into my own hands and took several laxatives in order to get some results.

    Glass Of Wine

There are many topics about this if you type in the search box above. Several will probably respond to this thread, but it has been covered in several different ways in other threads as well.
  13. I have lost almost 30lbs and not a single comment from anyone yet, except one coworker said that obviously my vacation did me good because I looked well rested and great. That tells me a few things. Of course I wear clothes that are not very snug to hide as much fat as I can delude myself into thinking I am hiding. Another is that perhaps that initial loss is not as obvious as when you get into bigger weight loss numbers. Whatever the reason, I'm glad nobody has asked. I've also worried about the many work lunches I've had to go to where I ordered a cup of Soup or a piece of chicken and could hardly eat but a few bites. But nobody has said a word.

    Drinking After Vsg

I have had wine, but don't think that I really felt the effects any faster. Then again it may be that I don't drink nearly as much as I did before. Its acidic and the enjoyment only lasts just so long. I've also had light cranberry juice with vodka with no problems. One thing that I have noticed is that my keytones are much lower if I drink something. I guess that if you drank enough it would throw you completely out of ketosis.

Bariware - Portable Portion Control For Us!

There is a lot more variety there and they are really cute, but the portion sizes are not designed specifically for bariatric patients measured out by ounces. Those portions total to 4-5 cups of food in the example shown. http://www.laptoplunches.com/myplate.php It would be good for several meals, though.

Help Needed - Eating At Night

You just can't go back to the way you ate before, ever. Unless you want to gain your weight back. This isn't like a diet where there is some end to the program. This program has no end. It is forever. It is about good nutrition and health. I keep having to tell myself this, too and it isn't easy. We do have a lot more knowledge now and experience with eating good foods. You may want to have a very small high protein snack, add in some Benefiber, chia seeds, drink hot tea, or take an evening walk. There is a space in time that is giving you trouble, so fill it with something that gets you away from those simple carbs. This is my battle, too.

    Bottomless Pit

Eww..the gel is icky. They do get that way towards the end of my yogurt, though, since they have been in moisture for a while. It doesn't bother me in food. I can't imagine wanting to feel that texture after letting them sit in liquid to gel.

You can get them at Walgreens, most health stores and it is possible that Wal Mart carries them now. I have Cha-Cha-Cha Chia brand. But there are a lot of different brands available.

Bariware - Portable Portion Control For Us!

I'm not on all foods yet, so I haven't used mine but I did get it out of the cabinet and take a look at it yesterday and was shocked. I hadn't looked at it since before surgery. Before surgery I thought that I would starve to death with such a tiny amount of food for lunch. Now that I'm going into my 7th week post-surgery, I am wondering how in the world I could begin to eat half of what that thing can hold!
  22. I'm just starting my 7th week, so maybe there are somewhat predictable stalls like the 2 week stall, we just haven't all tracked the dates. Someone should work up a spreadsheet!
  23. Mine is just nuts. I have been recording but lately there seems to be an anti-pattern. I weighed this morning and those same 3 lbs gained are sticking. I did try to throw things off yesterday by upping my calories from 500 to 800 but that wasn't the magic trick. I'm not crying or throwing things, but I wonder what's up. Could be that I haven't had but two poos in 6 weeks.

  25. After a 2 week stall I lost 1.5 lbs and now three days later I've gained 3. No reason for that to have happened. Go figure. That's an example of why you shouldn't weigh every day or obsess over numbers.
